Chapter 91 - Punk Hazard

Aboard the warship en route to Punk Hazard.

Without warning, the vessel shuddered violently.

Sakazuki pushed open the cabin door and stepped out. He looked at Carlo, who was overseeing training on deck.

"He's awake again, huh."

Carlo sighed, his expression caught between frustration and admiration. "Looks like it. Still full of energy. No surprise, really. Mythical Zoan types recover like nothing else."

Sakazuki narrowed his eyes. "Then it's ti he got so more rest."

With that, he turned and headed toward the prison at the bottom of the ship.

...

Inside the prison.

Kaido was bound in layer upon layer of seastone chains. The restraints covered him like an iron cocoon, the links thick and cold against his skin. Several massive chains stretched out from his body, bolted into the surrounding walls to anchor him in place.

The pirate thrashed wildly, and the sheer force of his movents made the entire warship tremble.

Suddenly, the sound of the door opening echoed.

Kaido looked up and saw Sakazuki entering. A shadow flickered in his eyes as hatred surged through him, spilling out in waves of Conqueror's Haki.

The vice admiral remained unfazed. He slowly approached and gave a faint smile, pulling out a sheet of paper from inside his coat and glancing down at it.

"Kaido. Born in the Grand Line, Kingdom of Vodka. At just ten years old, you beca the strongest warrior in the nation. Sixteen years ago, in order to beco a mber of the World Governnt, and gain a voice in the council, your kingdom sold you out. Gave you to the governnt for experints."

Kaido's pupils shrank, then flared blood red.

"AAARGH! SHUT UP!!!"

He howled like a wounded beast. His massive body twisted and slamd against the chains, shaking the entire chamber. The warship groaned under the strain.

This was the deepest scar in the pirate's heart. Betrayed by his own nation. Treated as a rare resource for experints.

He thought he had buried it long ago. But now, soone had torn it open. There was no way he could stay calm.

Seeing this, Sakazuki put away the paper in his hand. The rest was already known to the world. After joining the Rocks Pirates, Kaido had gradually made a na for himself.

"Pathetic, isn't it." He smiled slightly. "You gave everything for your country, then they turned around and sold you off as material. Handed you to the World Governnt. How ridiculous."

Kaido's muscles bulged with fury, veins pulsing along his arms and neck.

"RAAAAAAGH!"

His Conqueror's Haki erupted in full force. Above deck, many marines staggered and fell to their knees. A whirlwind of pressure exploded outward, yet Sakazuki stood still. The cloak on his back whipped in the torrent, but his eyes never left the man before him.

After a while, Kaido panted heavily. His bloodshot eyes locked onto his torntor.

"You say all that... for what?" His voice was a rasp, hoarse and low. "Pity? Sympathy? Huh...?

The vice admiral stared at him and shook his head. "No. I just ca to mock you. And tell you one thing. As a pirate, you're about to finish what you once left undone, that is to be used as material, to contribute to the Marines."

As soon as Kaido heard that, killing intent and Conqueror's Haki exploded again.

"SAKAZUKI!!!"

With a roar, he lunged forward, tearing against his restraints. But Sakazuki was already in motion. His right arm morphed as magma surged down its length, shaping into a kanabo wrapped in black Armant Haki.

Boom!

He swung it down on the pirate's head with trendous force. But Kaido, driven by hatred, refused to yield. His blood-soaked head stubbornly stood in place.

Blood stread past his eyes. The world before him turned red. In the crimson haze of his vision, Sakazuki, drenched in magma-red light, slowly crouched down.

A cold, twisted smile curled on his lips as his voice, low and demonic, echoed in Kaido's ears:

"Sleep well... experintal subject."

Boom!

Another brutal strike.

Kaido finally lost consciousness.

Sakazuki rose to his feet, withdrawing the magma-infused kanabo back into his body as the fiery glow faded into flesh. He turned and walked out of the cell.

Carlo stood outside, staring at him like he'd seen the devil himself.

"Vice Admiral Sakazuki," he muttered, "I'll never match your level of cruelty..."

The vice admiral scoffed. "Hatred gives people purpose. And the ones you understand most... are the easiest to break."

As he spoke, Sakazuki turned his gaze toward the ocean ahead, his thoughts drifting sowhere far beyond...

...

A few hours later. Punk Hazard.

Vegapunk stood waiting at the harbor, already inford of the incoming delivery.

Around him were elite CP agents—silent and alert. Even if pirates launched a sudden attack, these operatives could evacuate the island's scientists in monts.

Then, Vegapunk's eyes lit up.

The warship had arrived.

As it docked, Sakazuki stood on deck, exchanging a brief smile with the scientist across the distance.

"Long ti no see, Dr. Vegapunk," he greeted.

"It has been, Vice Admiral Sakazuki," Vegapunk replied with a grin.

Without another word, Sakazuki hoisted the massive chains that bound the still unconscious Kaido, and leapt off the ship.

Boom!

The weight of the pirate and the chains slamd into the ground, forming a crater at their feet.

Dragging the fallen beast behind him, Sakazuki approached Vegapunk, who looked visibly thrilled.

The vice admiral chuckled. "Need a hand? He's not exactly cooperative."

Vegapunk's voice brimd with excitent. "That would be most helpful, Vice Admiral. Thank you."

Sakazuki waved a hand dismissively. "Just a small favor. Let's head to the lab. Judging by his recovery rate, he'll probably wake in a few more hours."

Vegapunk nodded. "Understood."

He then ordered the CP agents to take the chains from Sakazuki and led him toward the research facility.

...

Inside Punk Hazard's lab.

Vegapunk stood before the monitors, observing Kaido's biological data. Awe shimred in his eyes.

"Incredible... The vitality of these cells," he murmured. "As expected from one of the sea's most mysterious races. There's sothing... extraordinary hidden deep inside. If I can just dig deeper, if I can unlock what lies beneath the surface, this could be—"

Boom!

A sudden blast of Conqueror's Haki surged from the adjacent chamber. Vegapunk staggered, disoriented by the overwhelming pressure.

Sirens blared across the facility.

Nearby, Sakazuki's expression didn't change.

'So... he's awake.'

Releasing his own Haki, he countered the overwhelming wave and vanished in a blur of movent.

...

Kaido's eyes fluttered open.

A white ceiling. Blinding lights. It brought back unpleasant mories.

Then he recalled what Sakazuki had said before knocking him out. His eyes snapped wide. A torrent of rage and Haki erupted from his body as he tried to break free.

BZZZZ! BZZZZ! BZZZZ!

The alarm scread. Then, another wave of crushing Haki slamd down on him.

Sakazuki's voice rang out, calm and rciless:

"Stay still. An experintal subject should behave like one."
