Chapter 90 - Sakazuki Captures the Dragon (End)

In his pteranodon form, King spread his wings wide and gave a powerful flap.

He shot into the sky, dodging the rain-like barrage of sword slashes. Then, hundreds of ters above the ground, he arced through the air and dove sharply downward.

"Imperial Archer!"

His wings surged with Haki, the air around him crackling with cutting pressure like invisible blades.

With a thunderous burst, he streaked toward Carlo at blinding speed.

Clang! Clang! Clang! Clang!

The sharp ring of tal echoed as sparks flew in every direction.

King's wings beca deadly blades, slicing and striking in a relentless storm. Yet Carlo's sword flowed like water—graceful, precise. It shimred with afterimages, intercepting every strike as he gave ground step by step.

Their battle tore through the landscape. The earth split beneath their feet, deep fissures snaking outward. Dust and sword energy swirled around them, masking their movents in a violent haze.

Then, King let out a muffled grunt. His body froze for a split second, and blood trickled from the corner of his mouth. That burst of strength had pulled at the internal injuries left by Sakazuki's earlier assault.

Carlo's eyes sharpened. Sword energy surged from his body, sweeping away the dust in a sudden gust. He stepped forward, gripping his blade with both hands.

"One Sword Style: Bluebird."

A crisp cry echoed out as blue sword energy shaped like a bird took form, darting left and right like lightning as it flew toward King.

The pirate's pteranodon head pulled back sharply.

"Imperial Deep Pride Stake!"

With a shout, he launched himself forward.

Whoosh!

A laser-like shockwave erupted from his beak, slicing toward the incoming energy.

Boom!!!

The two attacks collided in a devastating explosion, tearing through the air and blowing apart the surrounding clouds of dust. Both combatants were hurled backward by the blast.

Catching themselves midair, they locked eyes once more.

"Rooaaarrrr!"

From afar ca Kaido's roar. An azure dragon soared skyward, only to be yanked back by an unseen force and slamd violently into the ground.

BOOM!

A massive tremor rippled through the island.

King shifted into his hybrid form, hovering in the sky. A flash of worry flickered in his eyes.

Drawing a deep breath, he raised his sword as flas surged from his body, coiling around the blade before erupting outward, forming a lifelike fire dragon over a hundred ters long.

He slashed toward Carlo.

"Imperial Flaming Wings!"

Roar—

A dragon's cry sounded as it rushed forward, flas howling in its wake.

Carlo exhaled softly, steadying his stance. He moved his blade to his right side, and a faint blue aura began to shimr around him.

He stared down the incoming attack.

"One Sword Style."

He drew a sweeping arc in front of him with his sword.

"Supre Azure Dragon."

Roar—

Another dragon's cry rang out. A blue dragon made of sword energy erupted from the slash, slicing forward with a faint blade hum.

It shot toward the fire dragon.

Sharp sword aura clashed with blazing flas. They collided and began to cancel each other out, twisting and rging in midair.

Sssss!

Boom! Boom! Boom! Boom!...

Both energy dragons shattered at the sa ti. The flas and sword energy exploded in every direction, piece by piece. The deafening explosions filled the battlefield.

BOOM!!!

With one final thunderous blast, a scorching shockwave swept through the air and a giant mushroom cloud rose into the sky.

The blast forced Carlo to retreat rapidly.

King, anwhile, used the shockwave's montum to rocket upward. He grunted, then shifted back into his pteranodon form and flew toward Kaido at full speed.

...

Elsewhere, at Kaido and Sakazuki's battlefield.

Kaido, in his hybrid form, was pinned down on one knee. Several magma spears covered in Armant Haki had pierced through his joints, locking him in place.

Holding the pirate's kanabo in one hand Sakazuki slowly approached.

Kaido was gathering energy in his mouth, but the vice admiral noticed without showing the slightest concern.

At this point, all of the pirate's joints had been shattered by Sakazuki. They were temporarily held together by the magma spears. Even though Kaido possessed the Mythical Zoan Azure Dragon Fruit, recovery would still take ti.

And he hadn't awakened yet. He didn't have that absurd regeneration speed like in the future.

Suddenly, Sakazuki looked north.

A burning pteranodon ca flying toward him. Its mouth was also glowing with a concentrated build-up of energy.

Sakazuki raised an eyebrow as he lifted his hand and swung it upward toward the incoming King.

"Precipice Blade."

In front of the pirate, a massive magma blade dozens of ters wide burst out from the ground. With King flying at such high speed and Sakazuki's powerful Observation Haki predicting his path, there was no ti to dodge.

A flash of fierceness crossed the pirate's eyes, and the attack building in his mouth was about to fire straight at the vice admiral.

But at that mont, from below, Kaido—still pinned down—raised his head. He aid upward at King and released a blast of heat breath.

A golden beam, several ters thick, shot out like a laser, slamming into the top of the magma blade.

"Go!" Kaido bellowed. "Find a chance—"

BOOM!!!!

He didn't finish.

A loud sonic crack rang out as the kanabo, wrapped in Conqueror's Haki, smashed down on his skull.

The blow shattered the magma spears reinforced with Haki, and Kaido collapsed, unconscious.

Sakazuki exhaled slowly, staring down at the unconscious pirate. Then, with sothing like cruel amusent in his voice, he muttered softly:

"Thunder Bagua."

He casually tossed the kanabo aside. By then, King had already vanished into the distance, a small black dot disappearing into the sky.

Sakazuki narrowed his eyes slightly.

The last surviving mber of the fourth race depicted on the Sky Island mural...

Just then, Carlo approached, saluting. "Vice Admiral Sakazuki."

Sakazuki gave a short grunt of acknowledgnt and asked, "How long until the battleship arrives?"

"About half an hour, give or take," The man replied.

The vice admiral nodded. Then, forming chains from molten magma and coating them in Haki, he bound Kaido's joints one by one.

He turned to Carlo and said, "Bring so seastone chain. We're transporting him to Punk Hazard."

With that, he extended his Observation Haki again. Both arms turned into lava as he raised them toward the remnants of the Beasts Pirates trying to escape out at sea.

Endless smoke and molten magma erupted from his fists.

"teor Volcano."
