C134 – Big Brother
At that mont, one of the security guards spoke up with a blank expression.
“Sorry, sir, we have our policies!”
Jiang Hao expected this outco but couldn’t help feeling a bit frustrated. Still, he chose not to elaborate.
Since he was already there, running back to retrieve his mbership card was out of the question. His only option was to call Xue Zixi and ask for soone to co get him.
The call connected quickly.
“Hello, Miss Xue.
I’m downstairs at the Heavenly-Mansion Tavern. I rushed out today and forgot the Supre mber Card you gave . I’ve been stopped by your security. Could you send soone to pick up?”
“Mhm!”
……
Jiang Hao didn’t step away to make his call, so every word he uttered was overheard by the two security guards behind him.
They couldn’t help but snicker upon hearing his predicant.
Jiang Hao then caught snippets of their hushed conversation.
“How many does that make today? Here’s another suitor for our Miss!”
“Indeed! The guy earlier at least had a fancy sports car and was dressed to the nines.
“But this guy? He arrived in a cab, dressed so simply, and doesn’t even have a mbership card. And he thinks he can woo our Miss? Tsk tsk tsk…”
“Still, you’ve got to admire the guts on soone who dares to court our Miss!”
……
Jiang Hao paused mid-step, realizing their assumption.
“Do they think I’m one of Xue Zixi’s admirers?”
He turned around, staring at the two guards with a mix of surprise and bemusent.
Realizing their private conversation wasn’t so private, the guards weren’t the least bit intimidated. In fact, one even slyly flashed Jiang Hao a thumbs-up.
“Bro, I respect your courage!
But we still can’t let you through.”
He then gave Jiang Hao’s simple attire and the bag in his hand another once-over before offering so unsolicited advice.
“Kid, drop the act and hit the books, huh?
Talking about a Supre mber Card? If you had a blue crystal card, I’d write my na backward from now on!”
At a loss for words, Jiang Hao stood there, unsure of how to respond.
After a brief mont of contemplation, Jiang Hao broke into a smile, his curiosity piqued as he inquired,
“Does that domineering young miss of yours have a lot of admirers?”
Upon hearing this, the young security guard conversing with Jiang Hao couldn’t help but beam with pride.
“Not at all! Today…”
He was on the verge of launching into an extensive lecture to counsel this seemingly naive young man.
However, his colleague caught sight of a middle-aged man, smartly dressed in a suit and polished shoes, approaching them from a distance.
Instantly, his face fell, and he quickly whispered a warning to his companion who was still engaged in conversation with Jiang Hao.
“Laifu, cut it out, Manager Su is coming!”
His companion snapped to attention upon hearing the warning.
At that mont, Jiang Hao also noticed the middle-aged man making his way over.
Observing the two security guards, a subtle smile played at the corners of his mouth.
He turned to the guard he had been speaking with and said,
“Big brother, make sure to write your na in reverse for later, okay?”
The security guard was montarily taken aback by the request.
But with their general manager now at the doorstep, he dared not dwell on it.
As Su Jiu arrived, he spotted a teenager at the entrance, staring intently at him. Realizing they were alone, confusion washed over him.
“Didn’t Miss Xue ntion that Mr. Jiang would be at the door?” Su Jiuhui murmured to himself.
