Chapter 761: Bleeding Skies 2 (Ch.762)

"All infernal dragons...retreat imdiately." Neveah said, knowing Xenon would convey her orders .

Just at that mont, the first wave of the combat unit, mounted on the forest spirits charged through the portals. Spilling into the forest in great numbers.

Neveah was montarily taken aback at the first sight of the forest spirits but she quickly regained her composure. She had been unfortunate enough to witness the troll golem’s rampage, and it was a beast far more terrifying and horrendous than anything she could have ever imagined.

Compared to that, the massive wolf-like beasts with scaled antlers, unnatural speed and fangs dripping venom were not nearly as impressive. Their numbers however... that could not be overlooked.

What made the Fae so formidable was the fact that they outnumbered the dragon population nearly fifty to one, even with the advantage of magic on their side. Fort Inferno, one of the largest of the twelve fortresses only had about two dozen dragon lords.

Lord Kiroff dropped down to the watchtower right from the sky. "My Lady. The enemy force is on us, to retreat at this point..." He exclaims.

Xenon moved forward warningly, his gaze narrowed at Lord Kiroff. "I believe the orders you received were clear enough, Kiroff."

"Lord Kiroff...look at the skies." Neveah drew his attention to the rapidly spreading fus. The dragon lords had settled for flying low to avoid the fus while breaching the barrier but they already inhaled a good quantity of it from being in the skies at all. The fus were growing thicker and soon, it would no longer be possible not to be caught in it, unless they landed.

The fus had already begun visibly affecting the flight of the Infernal dragons that had caught a draft of it. They had grown slow and clumsy, unable to maintain an orderly hover formation. It was not terribly obvious yet, but Neveah could tell and she was certain Lord Kiroff could as well.

The Fae had also sensed it, to send in the withheld battalions ant they believed they had the advantage and their advantage would only grow with every second that passed.

But in the sa span of ti, the advantage could also shift...

No, it was not a possibility, she would make sure it did.

"If you do not retreat, you will lose altitude and drop from the skies. A crash will be detrintal to the settlents surrounding the forest. You cannot face the Fae in those fus. "But you will get the battle you seek...you have my word." Neveah took a more patient approach.

Lord Kiroff inclined his head to a bow and took off from the watchtower. The Infernal dragons had already put a good distance between them and the charging forest spirits at this point, but it was not far enough.

A dragon lord with rusty brown scales had fallen behind and the fus were quickly gaining on him. His flight was noticeably slow, much too slow.

And then he began spiralling. Evidence that his consciousness was slipping. Neveah’s heart dropped at the sight.

His kin had noticed, two dragons cut through the sky, rushing back to support him, and Neveah squinted to see through the toxic hue. Her breath caught as she glimpsed a strange tal in the hands of the leading combat warrior.

And not just him, but the entire frontline of over a dozen warriors held a similar weapon. Neveah recognised it instantly... she had seen the hateful weapon once, embedded in narx’s shoulder.

It was poised in the air and in the next mont, it soared for the three dragon lords.

"Adamantium!" Xenon hissed, also taking notice of the incoming attack. The dragon lords had noticed too and seed prepared to take a stand. Turning their backs on adamantium probably was not a very smart thing to do, but that was exactly what Neveah needed them to do.

’Do not turn back! The fus will affect you both if you waste a mont! Brace him and get over here! I won’t let you get hurt!’ Neveah snarled the words in her mind. Though she was not certain how that would help anybody or how she even planned to keep that promise.

To her relief, as though they heard her, the dragon lords shifted their attention from the incoming spears to support their kin. Breaking his fall on both sides, they heaved his weight till he was steady.

A mix of relief and terror dawned on her. They would escape the fus, but if they ignored the adamantium spears...

Neveah did not waste any ti contemplating. Her instincts guided her next actions. Her eyes narrowed, zeroing in on the charging spears. She stretched a hand out and in the sa mont, almost a dozen adamantium spears halted mid air.

’Did I just...do that?’ Neveah wondered.

Clenching her hand into fists, the spears twisted and bent into odd angles in the air before bursting into splinters of golden light that rained down over the forest.

At this point, the dragon lords were out of attack range of the Fae combat unit and their throwing spears. The dragons fell back beyond the city gates, circling the watchtower Neveah stood on.

The retreat of the Infernal dragons was all the motivation the Fae needed. The fus spread faster, swallowing even more of the daylight till it was not even a few miles from the watch tower. The advanced magic unit drew more and more mana to make this possible and more portals opened, unleashing Fae combat warriors and forest spirits alike.

Not all the infernal dragons had breached the barrier, only seven dragons. The rest of the dragons still mounted the city wall in their human form, watching the battle play out as Neveah was.

Many eyes turned to Neveah, it was the first ti the Infernal dragons would actually witness her wield magic. Though the rumors of her abilities had spread throughout the stronghold, they were still rumors until witnessed firsthand.

"Everyone...heard that." Xenon said to Neveah.

"Heard what?" Neveah replied, glancing over at Xenon with brows furrowed.

"You said not to turn back... and just keep flying." Xenon repeated.

Neveah sighed heavily. It was the third ti this was happening, that she was communicating with the dragons without even realising how she was doing it.

"I..." Neveah did not get to respond as a deafening explosion shook the city.

It was ti...

The mana pools had begun to backfire.
