Chapter 557: A Coincidence...or not? (Ch.558)
Neveah gritted her teeth, she was just a mont away from tossing aside her caution and ripping off the clammy hands that were on hers, clean off the shoulders of the buff man,
But Neveah did not even get to settle on a decision when another voice spoke up.
"Get your hands off of her!" The familiar voice interrupted in a furious snarl.
Neveah’s eyes widened in surprise as she glanced over her shoulder. Her eyes settled on a familiar face.
Kaz stood at the entrance of the shed, his bow poised with an arrow already locked in and ready to take a shot, the target, no one else but the buff man who held Neveah.
Neveah blinked in astonishnt, before she could even fully comprehend what exactly Kaz was doing here, Kaz had let loose of the arrow and it went whooshing right past Neveah’s cheek, lodging itself through the throat of the buff man.
All of this happened in a split second, even before the buff man could respond to Kaz’s threat and it seed as though the world slowed down for just a mont,
That slow mont was then interrupted by the gargling man who crashed heavily to the ground, eyes wide and bulging, choking on his own blood.
In the next mont, horrified screams echoed through the storehouse from the maids who scurried over to the side, huddling together in their terror.
anwhile, it took another mont for the situation to sink in for the other workers, but when it did, they flew into a rage... rightfully so, as one of them had just been killed by an unknown person, right before their eyes.
There was only Kaz standing by the door, with his bow and almost empty quiver.
The other workers charged on Kaz in a rage, Neveah knew there no way he could withstand them, he was just human and his bow was useless in a close range combat.
"Scales!" Neveah whispered, the tray in her hands clattered to the ground as she lunged.
Neveah shot through the air, she landed right in front of Kaz, ahead of any of his attackers.
"Shut the door." Neveah passed on to Kaz and then she lunged.
eting the attack of the first of them, Neveah’s claws swapped out in a flash, slashing right through his throat.
In that mont, as the tallic scent of blood flooded Neveah’s senses and droplets of blood splattered across her face, Neveah felt her control slip dangerously.
Neveah did not miss a beat, she lunged at the next, slashing down from one man to the other. Her speed far surpassed theirs and so she easily escaped their blows launched at her.
Neveah’s eyes glead dimly as her wolf rose up right to the surface, enhancing her abilities. Her breaths were slow, her movents lithe and agile and her eyes were narrowed into an animalistic glare.
Her lips were pulled back to reveal her elongated fangs and Neveah could feel that familiar prickling of her fur growing out as she suppressed her shift.
Neveah was not sure how long went by, her mind was clouded with her predatory urges, and she had no other thought, not until she stood in the midst of over a dozen dead n, her claws dripping with blood.
Neveah sucked in a deep breath, her animalistic gaze moved to settle on the terrified maids, her gaze narrowed slightly and a low growl rumbled out from deep in her throat.
The sll of their fear was thick in the air, especially to Neveah’s sensitive senses and that sll was like a drug, spurring her predator on...to satisfy a thirst for blood that could never truly be quenched.
"Pl... please don’t kill us... please..." One of the braver maids pleaded to Neveah in a stuttered voice.
Neveah’s brows twitched slightly, the terrified plea penetrated through the haze that had co over her and she sucked in another breath, battling her wolf.
’Down girl... that is enough...’ Neveah thought to her wolf, her head visibly twitching as a slight battle ensued between both custodians of the body.
It took Neveah a mont to regain enough control to step away from the trembling maids, a reassurance that she would not harm them.
"You.saw.nothing." Neveah made clear, enunciating each word clearly so the trembling girls knew she was not asking.
"Return to your duties, you had no idea of what happened here tonight...it only took place after you had left." Neveah added.
She turned her head to the door, nodding to Kaz who still stood by it.
He had shut the door like Neveah had instructed before all hell had broken loose.
Kaz pulled open the door and stepped aside.
"Go." Neveah instructed.
The maids stared warily at Neveah as they got up to their feet and scurried out of the storehouse, till there was just Neveah and Kaz left, as well as a dozen dead n.
Kaz shut the door once again but Neveah did not even pay him any attention.
Instead, Neveah glanced around the storehouse, her eyes moving from one dead man to the other, lingering on the deep slashes she had left in different lethal points.
This level of brutality... Neveah realized she had not manifested such in a long, long ti.
"Self defence." Kaz spoke up from where he stood, as though he could read Neveah’s mind and see the complex thoughts in them.
"They are humans...it is they who need to be defended from ." Neveah murmured.
She lifted her hand to her view, unable to understand how she had just killed a dozen n without even giving it a second thought.
How that had been the first thought to co to her mind in that situation and she had truly carried it out.
"Scales!" Neveah growled, clenching her hands into tight fists.
"If you had done nothing, they would not have let
off... would it have been a better choice if I died then, lieutenant? You are a predator...a glorious one. Why do you fight your true nature?" Kaz asked Neveah, walking over to her.
"Don’t...stay right where you are...do not co close to ," Neveah warned.
"I am not sure what I might do." Neveah added.
She tilted her head back for a mont and then her gaze lifted to settle on Kaz.
"Kaz... chancing on you at the most unusual tis, it has happened one too many tis...one too many to still be a coincidence." Neveah murmured, her tone chilling cold.
"How did you know I would be here?" Neveah asked darkly.
