Chapter 427: A Mont (Ch.427)
"Veah, to have heard it from soone else...it just felt, hurtful." narx admitted.
"I feel like the more I get to know you, the more I realize that I truly know nothing about you. Not even the basic facts that should have been a certainty to know." narx continued in a quiet tone.
Neveah winced slightly, a heavy feeling settled over her heart and Neveah could tell this feeling was not hers, it was a sliver of narx’s feeling slipping through their bond.
It seed narx had not even realized it yet, that Neveah had already begun to feel what he felt but Neveah knew he would soon.
For the ti being, the bond was still in formation and so their minds were completely opened to one another, it was just that Neveah’s emotions were always controlled and guarded, more so than narx’s.
Hence while the bond had already bored into narx, giving up his true emotions, it was yet to do the sa with Neveah.
"Narx, it is not sothing I usually talk about. Not even seldomly, I know I have only ntioned it once to Davina and it ca up in a unique situation, not because I found it right to speak of it." Neveah explained truthfully.
"What kind of situation?" narx asked in a sulking tone.
Neveah breathed a sigh, thinking back to when she had made ntion of it to Davina.
"If I could make one day in the year cease to exist, Davina asked
which it would be." Neveah replied quietly.
narx glanced over at Neveah with surprise.
"It was just a question in passing, to keep
company while I waited to fetch laundry when I served as an attendant. However my answer to her was that day and when she asked for a reason, I told her it was because that was the day I was born." Neveah continued.
"Oh Veah..." narx fretted, his arm moved around Neveah’s shoulder, pulling her closer to his side.
"The dragons do not make a big deal out of such days, so I did not really think ntioning it was of any consequence...added to that, for the first ti, I truly forgot about it." Neveah said, her arms wrapped around narx’s waist while her head was leaned down on his shoulder.
"We live for centuries as a start, Veah. Hence why we do not make an affair out of the passing of ti, it does not an we do not acknowledge it though." narx explained to Neveah.
"Do you regard your birth date to be such a terrible day that you do not even rember it?" narx asked.
"At the ti, I guess I did. I believed then that I had been abandoned by my mother at birth, left to a monster of a father and a step mother and a brother who were just as bad."
"My birth date was never anything worth celebrating, Narx. I said it before, how my fourteenth birthday played out." Neveah reminded.
"The first ti you killed a man..." narx murmured, nodding slightly.
"I killed my father’s enemy just so I could live. A man who was a son... had a family of his own, people who loved and cared for him. People who his loss would haunt even till this day." Neveah breathed a sigh.
The mories were still painful to recall but it was not as terrible as when Neveah had first talked about it to narx.
"Veah, love...he was going to hurt you, you did what you had to do to protect yourself, as anyone would. You owe him no guilt." narx admonished.
"I know, I know." Neveah murmured.
"All the years leading up to that fourteenth birthday, each was spent under tutelage by Lothaire’s orders. I spent every birthday being tested on my knowledge, on how far I had progressed through the past year, with the lives of many ogas at risk if I failed to answer rightly."
"I spent every birthday after my fourteenth being a pawn in so grand political conspiracy by my father. The event of my fourteenth birthday repeated itself every birthday after, in an even more horrifying manner."
"I never passed on to the next day without my hands soaked up in blood, it was like tradition. I was forced to make my greatest kill of the year on that day, the day where my birthday was used as an excuse to gather Lothaire’s enemies to the chopping block." Neveah explained.
"It was terrible, Narx. It was a day I dreaded the most in the year, my birthday was never sothing to look forward to, not even once." Neveah revealed, her tone barely above a whisper.
"So yes, Narx. I was not going to tell you about it, I would not have even rembered it had you not ntioned it... because for the first ti, even with the day so close, that reoccurring pain of the past was the farthest thing on my mind."
"I was happy, Narx. I was happy and the darkness of my past and everything associated with it, I did not realize when I left it all at the back of my mind." Neveah admitted.
"I hate that I hurt you, I just..." Neveah continued explaining but narx was quick to shush her.
"Hush now, love. I am the one in the wrong, I should not have carelessly brought it up, reminding you of things you have earned the rights to forget. I’m sorry, Veah... I was too selfish." narx apologized sincerely.
"I like it, you get so worked up over everything that concerns ...it shows how much you care." Neveah replied, chuckling to herself when narx sighed helplessly.
Neveah leaned up, her lips eting narx’s in a light kiss. Neveah was going to pull away but narx had other plans, pulling Neveah closer, he deepened the kiss, falling back on the bed so Neveah straddled him.
"We should go out for that run..." Neveah murmured as she pulled away slightly.
"Just a mont..." narx cajoled, his lips still moving against Neveah’s.
"Narx..." Neveah began to say but was cut off by another voice.
’I am not in a hurry Veah, not at all.’ Neveah’s wolf chipped in through their link.
"A mont is good." Neveah adjusted her stance, rolling her eyes at narx’s victorious smirk.
