Chapter 426: Tell

(Ch.426)

"How did you get to know... about it?" narx asked Jian.

"Rodrick. His daughter must have ntioned it at so point and I assu she heard from Neveah." Jian explained.

"Right, it would be Davina. Veah does not have much people she would tell of her personal affairs." narx murmured.

There was a tinge of hurt that he was also one of those people that did not know such things about Neveah but narx also knew it was hard on Neveah to let people in... she was already so accustod to solitude.

"I will speak with Veah about it and decide together." narx relayed to Jian.

"Very well. Convey these to her as well." Jian agreed, passing narx two scrolls.

"These are?" narx asked with a raised brow.

"A task Neveah must take on in person. You both will understand it when you see it." Jian replied.

"I understand." narx said, getting up to his feet, he took his leave.

Jian watched narx leave, before his gaze moved over to his open balcony, staring out in the direction of Mount Edar.

"This is it then...there is no going back now." Jian murmured, heaving a quiet sigh.

Jian returned his attention to the scrolls heaped on the desk.

"Hey love." narx greeted as he walked into his room to find Neveah up and getting dressed.

"There you are." Neveah acknowledged.

"Going sowhere?" narx asked.

"As a matter of fact, yes. Everon advices

to rest undisturbed, but I am following in your footsteps and ignoring his sound advice. " Neveah replied.

narx chuckled quietly, he could tell Neveah still had not let go of that event in the early days at the outpost where he had stubbornly taken flight and ripped open his injury.

"I am all healed now, Veah. Can you lay it to rest?" narx asked in amusent.

"Never." Neveah made clear, turning around to face narx as she pulled her hair up into a pony tail.

"I was thinking, it’s been too long since I went on a run. Given the situation at the outpost, my wolf has had to stay suppressed, she is becoming restless."

"I need to let her out now." Neveah explained.

"I’ll go with you then." narx said, placing the scrolls Jian had given him down on his desk.

"Jian asked

to bring these to you, though I am not certain what is written in them yet. He says it is a task... ant for you." narx relayed.

"He is assigning

tasks now?" Neveah asked with a raised brow.

narx shrugged casually and Neveah sighed, walking over to the table, she picked up the scroll and open it, reading through it’s contents.

"It says here that the elves will be sending your chosen bride as the representative of the unified council." Neveah passed on to a patiently waiting narx.

"Co on, you can’t be jesting over..." narx began to say, chuckling at Neveah’s tease. But then narx took notice of the serious expression on Neveah’s face.

"You’re not jesting." narx realized.

"I am not." Neveah concurred, handing the scroll to narx.

"Veah, I’ll speak to Jian..." narx began to say but Neveah cut him off with a shake of her head.

"Narx, relax. It’s fine, I’m not against it." Neveah assured narx.

"But, the elves have agreed to the unified council on the condition that you represent dragon dynasty at the trial and their own representative is that... they even went as far as procuring approval from the rs."

"Knowing a joint appeal cannot be easily overlooked. It must an they have sothing up their sleeves, it would be safer to refuse them." narx reasoned.

"Their justification is the fact that I commanded the battle and discovered the cri, it is within reason. If we refuse, we do not have a worthy reason to counter theirs." Neveah pointed out.

"Even so, dragon dynasty has the ultimate say. They won’t dare act out if Jian rejects the appeal." narx insisted.

"If I am not mistaken, the Dragon King’s founding declaration is not to govern his dynasty with tyranny. This is precisely why you can, but should not overlook this appeal."

"I will just have to relay the facts of the investigation to the unified council, right? It’s not that big of a deal." Neveah assured.

"And the elf representative?" narx asked.

"Is just that, an elf representative. Why must I consider her a rival? She does not stand a chance." Neveah said with a shrug.

narx shook his head at Neveah’s statent, his lips twitching in amusent.

"No, no she does not." narx agreed.

"It’s just... the presence of the unified council cannot be helped, I just do not want your day ruined with added troubles." narx sighed quietly.

"My day? You an the ceremony? Everon ntioned the date was set in a few days. It’s our day, Narx. It’s not all about , you know." Neveah adjusted.

"Veah...the day of the ceremony, does it not an anything to you?" narx asked with a raised brow.

"What are you talking about?" Neveah asked with a chuckle, but then it dawned on her what day the ceremony was.

"It’s your birthday, Neveah." narx said it out loud just as Neveah recalled it.

"So?" Neveah asked blankly, still not understanding what that had to do with anything.

"So? Veah, you’re turning a new age in a few days ti and you did not even ntion it. Clearly, you did not plan to." narx blurted out, his tone sounding more hurt than he had intended for it to.

Neveah placed the second scroll back down on the desk and walked over to the bed, taking a seat beside narx.

"You’re hurt." Neveah realized.

"Well I... I know I should not be, I have no right..." narx trailed off, unable to deny the obvious.

"Narx, do not say that. You have every right...you more than anyone else. It’s okay to say that I’ve hurt you, it’s right to let

know..."

"That way, I get to understand you better. And I do want to understand you, Narx. I dearly want to know your heart, better than I know mine." Neveah clarified in a quiet tone.

"So tell

what’s on your mind, yes?" Neveah asked and narx nodded in agreent.
