Chapter 372: Revelations (Ch.372)
"She was my mother..." Neveah replied.
Kaideon’s eyes widened slightly, Neveah watched in astonishnt as tears brimd in the eyes of the usually calm Dune Lord.
The clearing was in pin drop silence, no one dared breathe too loudly since Kaideon had spoken his first words, they could only watch in shock, narx included.
’Neveah...’ A voice, Kaideon’s voice to be exact sounded in Neveah’s mind.
Neveah was caught off guard, her eyes widening in shock to find she could hear Kaideon’s voice in her head, she could actually hear him loud and clear just like she heard her wolf.
And this was not even a situation of being in contact with his scale, Kaideon was in human form and his hand had dropped back to his side, there was no contact between them yet Neveah could hear Kaideon’s words.
How was it possible? They did not share a mind link...or any link whatsoever.
’But we do share a link.’ Kaideon replied to Neveah’s thoughts, his voice echoing in Neveah’s mind again.
"I can hear you in my head... how?" Neveah asked in shock, her words which were said out loud added to the astonishnt of everyone else.
"Your wolf bears my scale colour, right from the first mont I set eyes on you, I have felt an intense and overwhelming need to protect you..."
"You can easily understand
when I never speak and all this ti, I have wondered just what it was about you...the mark you bear is exact to the one I know, yet it is altered by my clan’s sigil..."
"How could I not have known you were mine?"
"How could I have failed to recognize my own daughter?" Kaideon whispered, this ti out loud.
Neveah’s jaws dropped open in shock, Kaideon’s words completely caught her off guard.
"D... daughter?..." Neveah stuttered out, not sure if she heard correctly or the wind was playing tricks.
Kaideon took off a pendant that was hidden beneath his clothing and handed it over to Neveah.
Neveah took it, staring at Kaideon for a mont before she glanced down at the pendant.
On the pendant was engraved four letters, the four letters that ford her mother’s na.
It could not have been so coincidence that Kaideon knew her mother’s na when she had never uttered this na to anyone since she ca to know of it.
And from how this pendant was carried on Kaideon’s person at all tis, Neveah surmised it was sothing he considered most precious.
"My mother... she was..." Neveah trailed off, unsure how to ask the question on her mind.
"Eira was my rider." Kaideon replied, knowing exactly what Neveah was asking.
"But how... she... how?" Neveah asked in shock, but she did not get to fully form her question or hear the answer as in the next mont, she blacked out.
_____________
Kaideon stood at the balcony of narx’s quarters, gazing down at the mountain peaks below.
It was sun down now and the colorful hues of the setting sun painted the sky even as it descended below the horizon.
How long had it been since Kaideon last took notice of such common sights and could actually perceive the beauty in them? Kaideon could hardly rember.
Kaideon’s fingers twirled the pendant dangling from his neck, his face was etched with a mix of confusion, elation, and profound contemplation.
In all these years, there was not a day that passed by where Kaideon was not tortured by his great loss, devastated by the uncertainty of what had truly happened.
In all these years, how tirelessly had Kaideon searched? He would have turned the world itself over if that was what it took, yet...he ended up with nothing.
But now, almost two decades later, right before his eyes was a miracle Kaideon had never even known of...a child, Kaideon had fathered a child.
The thought of it alone was foreign to Kaideon, this realisation was both a balm to Kaideon’s wounded heart and at the sa ti, it stirred a tempestuous storm of questions.
How? Why? When?...
All these thoughts ran through Kaideon’s mind and the pains he had buried in the very depths of his heart just so he could go on living were once again unleashed.
Kaideon heaved a quiet sigh, he could not understand it, there was no thods to understand it yet he knew without a doubt that Neveah was his child and Eira’s.
There was not a single doubt in Kaideon’s mind about this, even without the revelation today, Kaideon had always felt it right from the first mont he set eyes on her kneeling out in the courtyard.
She was the spitting image of Eira, that was the first thing that had given Kaideon pause...but her eyes, those striking violet orbs were just a shade lighter than Kaideon’s own eyes.
And that unyielding personality, it was exactly Kaideon in his youth, stubborn and independent.
All this while, Kaideon had allowed the truth that was right before his eyes to escape him.
But now that the truth was clear, now that he had finally recognised what his dragon side had always known but he had been too slow to sense,
The question arose, what would Neveah make of this? And what exactly had happened to Eira?
"Kaideon... " narx’s voice drew Kaideon out of his thoughts.
Kaideon glanced over his shoulder to narx who stood by the door leading out to the balcony, a baffled expression on his face.
"She’s awake, Everon has finished his examination. She wants to see you." narx relayed.
Kaideon nodded, letting out a shaky breath. He had been anxiously waiting for Neveah to regain consciousness, but now that she had,
Kaideon realized he had not really thought of what exactly he would say.
What overwheld Kaideon’s heart at this mont were two things he could not rember when last he had felt.
Kaideon realized he was nervous, so much so that he had to clench his hands into fists to hide the tremors...but more than that, he was terrified.
Kaideon headed back into the room but was stopped by narx at the door.
"This...are you absolutely certain of it?" narx asked Kaideon.
"Why? You must know you have been on my bad side for quite the ti." Kaideon murmured in response, brushing past a horrified looking narx.
