Chapter 371: A Familiar Mark (Ch.371)

narx landed to the ground in the wake of his flas, his shoulder ached terribly and narx was certain his wound had begun to bleed,

It was the repercussion of taking dragon form even with his injury, but it could not be helped... narx was just glad it was over.

narx strode over to where Jian stood with Kaideon, Rodvan and Cassian.

Decaron had also arrived and he seed to be giving a report to Jian, the young Scabbard dragon and his rider were also there and so was Eidon.

narx frowned slightly as all eyes turned to settle on him and his heart dropped instantly, he could already take a guess as there was the obvious absence of the one person he wanted to see.

"Where is Veah?" narx asked suspiciously.

"My Lord..." Eidon began but trailed off, having no words to say.

"I made it clear that you were not to leave her side!" narx snarled, moving towards Eidon but Jian prevented him with a hand on his shoulder.

"Let them speak." Jian reasoned, nodding towards a horrified looking Estelle.

"I...we were attacked by a dark fairy. She was powerful and had mastered the art of mind control and blood magic..."

"Dante was poisoned, we entrusted the treasure to Neveah..." Estelle began to explain in a weak tone.

"You did what?!" narx hissed.

"We thought we could hold back the dark fairy but she never showed up, she must have gone right after Neveah..."

"We hurried here hoping to find her here, but... I’m sorry, My Lord!" Estelle sobbed out, clinging to Dante as they warily watched narx.

narx’s gaze was alight with rage, he bit down on his lip harshly to calm himself and prevent himself from harming anyone.

"It has not been so long ago, she should still be sowhere in the forest. Spread out and find her." Jian instructed.

narx was already gone before Jian could complete his order and Jian sighed, following after narx.

narx took his dragon form, soaring over the forest at a low altitude, just above the trees.

His large orbs scanned the forest below, in search of Neveah.

It did not take too long before narx sighted Neveah’s familiar silhouette down in the forest.

narx landed imdiately, rushing over to Neveah.

Neveah sat, leaned against a tree. She was conscious but barely so, her weak gaze settled on narx the mont he landed and a sigh of relief escaped her.

It had not been that long since Neveah regained consciousness, the warmth of the sun had woken her up.

Neveah realized she was still in the forest and of course, the treasure was already gone.

It was already shocking to Neveah that the dark fairy spared her life but she did not ponder over it as she moved over to lean against a tree and regain her strength.

"Veah!" narx yelled, dropping to his knees beside Neveah.

A close up sight of Neveah left narx pained. The white tunic she had on was ripped in multiple places and dyed red in her blood.

Her hair had co undone and there were bruises all over her face, clearly, she was healing too slowly.

Her left hand clutched her side where narx was certain she had broken a few bones, there was a deep cut on her wrist and Neveah’s breathing was slow and strained.

"Narx, I... I couldn’t stop her... the box, she took it... I... I’m sorry..." Neveah said weakly.

Each word Neveah said only tore at narx’s heart, her tone was defeated and it pained narx to see that Neveah actually believed he could care about anything else but her.

"Scales, Veah..." narx breathed out, his heart aching as he cradled Neveah’s face in his hands.

"Everyone can see it clearly that you gave it your all, what do you have to be sorry for? Do you know how terrified I was coming here?"

"Treasure be damned! I do not care...you co first, your safety is more important than anything else." narx assured Neveah.

Neveah sighed quietly but nodded in understanding.

"He is right, we will handle the matter of the treasure. You are not in any position to worry about anything else and surviving an advanced dark fairy is already your luck." Jian spoke from behind narx.

"Your... Grace." Neveah greeted.

"We will return to the camp first and then you can tell us all that happened." Jian said.

narx was about to lift Neveah into his arms when he sensed a presence behind him.

narx glanced over his shoulder to find Kaideon stood right behind him and was still intent on moving past him.

narx’s brows furrowed in confusion when he found Kaideon’s gaze was fixed on Neveah.

"Kaideon, is there sothing you wish to say?" narx asked, his gaze narrowing when Kaideon took another step forward, past him and closer to Neveah.

Neveah stared up at Kaideon with wide eyes, the look in his eyes was too complicated to be deciphered.

"Okay, whatever this is, that is as far as you get." narx warned.

Kaideon ignored narx’s words and crouched down beside Neveah, his hand reaching out to her.

narx grabbed Kaideon’s wrist, his predator rising to the surface.

"Stand down Kaideon, I will not say it again." narx warned.

"Kaideon, you are acting strange and scaring the girl." Jian supported.

"I... I’m fine...let him be..." Neveah said.

narx slowly let go of his hold on Kaideon’s wrist, a growl escaping him when Kaideon’s finger grazed Neveah’s skin,

His fingers trailed a strange marking that was engraved on Neveah’s skin, right over her heart, it was only visible now because Neveah’s tunic had been ripped low.

Neveah sohow understood the question on Kaideon’s mind.

"My kind know it to be the creator’s mark... I got it so months ago, it is a symbol of my bloodline and heritage..." Neveah explained uncertainly.

"This mark... I know it..." Kaideon whispered in a low tone, leaving everyone shocked to hear him speak for the first ti in decades.

But Kaideon did not care for anything else at this mont.

"Eira... have you heard this na before?" Kaideon asked in a serious tone.

Neveah’s eyes widened to hear the na she herself had only co to know a short ti ago.

"She was my mother..." Neveah replied.
