Chapter 349: Mutual Feeling (Ch.349)

"I’m not here because I wish to be." Neveah replied, quickly reverting back to her usual cold countenance.

"My Liege, Neveah has faced the troll golem." Rodvan reported.

Neveah’s eyes widened slightly at Rodvan’s choice of words, she had surely not faced it.

"Is this true?" Jian asked, his gaze moving to Neveah.

Neveah noticed Jian’s gaze trailing over her quickly, and Neveah wondered if it was in a bid to examine her for injuries...or perhaps Neveah was just thinking too much.

"I did not face it exactly..." Neveah began, passing Rodvan an awkward look.

"Tell us everything exactly as it happened." Rodvan instructed.

Neveah glanced over at Kaideon who nodded in encouragent.

"It was human, without a doubt. He was right there when I got out of the tunnel, just lurking in the forest doing his own thing and I heard a twig snap,"

"I went over and there was no one and then I turned and he was behind . He wouldn’t respond to my questions...he looked like any normal human but had the strangest eyes."

"Then I was going to leave and he begun acting strangely, twitching..." Neveah related all that had occured within the forest before she ran off.

"... and so... I ran." Neveah finished in a sheepish tone, it was not everyday she had to announce out loud that she had run away for her dear life.

Especially to dragons who probably never had to feel like prey their whole lives, given the fact that they were so much stronger than everyone else.

"We could never have thought the dark sorcerers would have a thod to grant their conjured beasts a human likeness." Rodvan said after Neveah had finished.

"It is hard to ascertain what spell cos to play here, we will have to consult with the academy of magic and determine likely counter asures."

"We could have more than just the troll golem lurking around in human skin. That being said, this does make everything so much easier to understand." Cassian admitted passing a look to Jian who had been silent since Neveah had begun speaking.

The thoughts running through Jian’s mind at the mont were impossible to decipher but he maintained his silence for a mont longer before he finally spoke.

"Can you rember how he looked, exactly?" Jian finally asked.

Neveah nodded in response, she was not one to forget faces easily.

"He was a thin male, with a youthful appearance of around twenty sumrs by human age. A few inches taller than I am, with strange yellow eyes."

"He was dressed in regular breeches and a gray colored tunic." Neveah reported.

And then Neveah thought of sothing.

"Can portals conceal blood trails?" Neveah asked aloud, drawing the attention of everyone in the room back to herself just when they were about to begin deliberations.

"Why do you ask this?" Cassian asked.

"I think I left a wound..." Neveah murmured, lifting her claw from beneath the cloak which still had traces of the troll golem’s blood.

Neveah was not certain how she had completely forgotten about that, or the stench that lingered due to the blood trace.

It seed Jian’s arrival had truly left Neveah more disoriented than she would have liked to admit.

"With his blood trail, I could sniff him out anywhere as long as he is still within this terrain."

"There is nothing more adept than a wolf’s sense of sll. It would also be more efficient to have a backup, just in case the portal has already been altered." Neveah said.

The dragon lords were quiet at Neveah’s offer and then Rodvan spoke first.

"You could possibly be endangered." Rodvan pointed out the obvious.

"For as long as the troll golem is out there, no one is truly safe. narx was already hurt because of it, if I can do sothing to help, it is my responsibility." Neveah replied unfazed.

"You have encountered it once, you should know it is not a beast you wish to face." Jian was still far from convinced.

"Exactly because I have encountered it once, I am in the best position to track it down. I do not intend to battle it... and I am not so helpless that I cannot protect myself." Neveah countered.

"Neveah has a point." Cassian chipped in.

"You would certainly think she does." Jian replied, passing Cassian a withering glare.

"Is it not a better result for everyone if the golem is taken down as soon as possible? This ability of camouflage places many unsuspecting humans in danger."

"It could already be sowhere in the town for all we know, I would think this is not the ti to discriminate against , Your Grace."

"You may not like , which I must add the feeling is mutual, but if there is anything a wolf is better suited to than a dragon, then it would be scent tracking, this is the fact." Neveah pointed out.

"The answer is no, you stay out of this. You’ve done enough." Jian made clear.

"With all due respect, Your Grace, you may not favor it but I am your king’s guard until you decide to relieve

of my duties... which you have not."

"Your affairs are already my business, what makes you think you can sideline

as you please?" Neveah added insistently.

"Again..." Cassian began to say but cut himself off when Jian passed him another dark glare.

"The girl is right, her suggestion is worth a try and Kaideon agrees. The danger is manageable as we will not be far behind." Rodvan spoke up.

It seed everyone else was in agreent with Neveah but Jian.

"narx has been alerted of your presence here. He will be here in a day’s ti, we will decide on his arrival." Jian finally said.

"A day is a long ti, the scent trail will go cold..." Neveah began but her words were caught in her throat when Jian growled warningly.

"As Your Grace commands." Neveah adjusted with a forced smile.
