Chapter 348: Report In Person 2 (Ch.348)

King Jian’s eyes were closed in ditation as he cald his predator side.

Trouble had risen at the East, a great trouble and it was one Jian could only approach with a clear head.

However, a clear head was hard to maintain when thousands of his people, dragon lords and all other species alike had disappeared off the face of the earth.

"Will you say nothing of Fort Blazed?" Cassian who had been watching in silence finally spoke.

It had not been so long Jian dismissed the young lord of Fort Scabbard and the heiress of Fort Blazed after acquiring a full report of all they had witnessed.

And following that, Jian had said not even a single word and it did not appear like he would speak anyti soon.

Cassian was already at his wits end, the entire second squadron was in a great rage at the word from the East yet where they had expected a battle order, Jian had instead demanded silence.

"Say the word and I will send for the third and sixth squadrons. We will make flight east imdiately." Cassian said again when Jian did not respond.

"Scales! Say sothing Jian!" Cassian exclaid.

"And do what?" Jian asked, his eyes still closed.

"My Liege..." Cassian began but Jian cut him off.

"Your wrath is justified, do you suppose I do not wish to declare war? But on what?! Do you not understand Cassian?!"

"You fly east to what?! The army of dark sorcerers waiting there to return Fort Blazed to us after a scuffle?!" Jian hissed, his eyes snapping open.

"If a battle could undo what has happened, I would already be East! But fire and blood cannot undo a spell of dark magic!"

"We have no idea what has happened to Fort Blazed, but what we do know is the lives of thousands of our people are in their hands...you ask

to declare war? Who is my enemy?" Jian demanded.

"Are we to do nothing then?" Cassian asked with a heavy sigh.

Jian scoffed beneath his breath, a deadly glimr in his eyes.

"No one knows better than the dark sorcerers that a war with dragons is a lot cause."

"They have declared a different kind of battle...a battle on their terms. One where we cannot confront the enemy."

"We will have to play along, our priority is securing the safety of Fort Blazed and it’s citizens. As long as they believe us unard, Fort Blazed will be untouched." Jian said, his hands clenched into fists.

"Our hands are tied then." Cassian murmured.

"It is thus a good thing that we still have wings. On my word, you are to convey my orders to the Citadel...rouse Verothrax." Jian decided as he rose up to his feet.

Cassian’s eyes widened at the na Jian ntioned. The Dragon King had co up with a drastic asure.

"Verothrax... this ans...?" Cassian trailed off, marvelled at the solution Jian had concluded on in such a short ti.

"What do you suppose I have been doing? Entertaining your glares? Trembling in fear? Or garnering the wits to forsake my people?" Jian asked.

"My faith in you has never been proven wrong." Cassian said, lowering his head to a bow.

"It is not our first dance with dark sorcerers, brother. But by the Creator... I will make it our last." Jian vowed, his eyes gleaming with cold malice.

"I will send word to Imagor as soon as you permit." Cassian obliged.

"First...we must finish the battles we have already begun. Send Dante and Elle back to the citadel at dawn, the package in their possession must be well secured and then summon narx, I have decided on the fate of the hidden city." Jian continued.

"And the rest?" Cassian asked after a mont of silence.

Jian passed Cassian a blank look.

"You know I speak of the girl, Jian. narx will be here soon, have you made a decision?" Cassian asked.

Jian frowned slightly, his eyes going closed dismissively.

"Answer

this at the least... did you rage at her for this affair? Or because she failed to see the severity of the danger she could have been in?" Cassian asked pointedly.

"And do you suppose the girl would escape the academy and then travel here right into my hands? At the exact period that parchnt was delivered?" Jian asked back.

"It would be too much of a coincidence, everything is in place to paint her a threat." Cassian admitted.

"Do not try to read what is not there Cassian. I would assu you know

well enough." Jian added.

"I do..." Cassian agreed, the rest of the statent he completed it in his mind.

’That is precisely the problem... I know you well enough to sense a change, no matter how subtle.’ Cassian thought to himself, in a tone that was a cross between amusent and concern.

"Whatever it is you have in your mind had better stay there."

"As for the girl and the circumstances surrounding her disappearance, her actions will be judged by the masters of the academy on our return to the keep." Jian decided.

"If she still insists on keeping her silence?" Cassian asked.

"It would not be the first radical rider the masters have faced...they have their thods." Jian replied blankly.

Neither Jian nor Cassian got to say anymore as Kaideon and Rodvan arrived at the tent, with Neveah in tow.

"My Liege." Rodvan greeted.

Jian’s eyes fluttered open, his gaze settling on Kaideon and then moving to Neveah.

She stood guiltily by the tent flap, keeping as much distance between Jian and herself as possible.

She appeared very much different from the sharp tongued girl from a while ago and Jian was not surprised,

He had witnessed himself at Mount Edar’s bridge and at Asrig’s morial hall that Neveah had a side to her personality that was very well hidden beneath the ferocity.

’At least she has so awareness left.’ Jian thought to himself, he was not as angry as he had been a short ti ago.

But that did not an he would let go of Neveah’s disregard so easily.

"You must have a death wish coming here..." Jian began in a chilling cold tone.
