Jimmy tidied up his gear, checked his gun and bullets, and then left the office, driving his rcury to the hospital to see Charles. On the way, he bought a bouquet of flowers and after thinking about it, he picked up a fruit basket as well. He couldn't go empty-handed, and just flowers seed a bit inadequate, especially since Charles had only been shot, not sick like Chris. There were no dietary restrictions, so a bit of fruit seed fitting for the occasion.

After knocking on the door of Charles's hospital room, which was quite large and well-equipped, Jimmy noticed that Charles was popular given the three bouquets of flowers by the bed, all within just one day.

Jimmy: "Charles, how's your wound?" Jimmy set the flowers aside and imdiately opened the fruit basket, tossing him an orange.

Charles: "Thanks, I was just getting a little craving."

Jimmy: "How's the wound? What did the doctor say?"

Charles: "No major issues, just a through-and-through. It didn't hit the bone, so I just need to rest."

Jimmy: "Lucky you. Did they find the bullet?"

Charles: "7.62 NATO. It seems he wasn't aiming to kill, more like a warning shot. The situation is a bit complicated this ti, of the three witnesses, we're down to one and a half. Only Big Chin is intact, another witness was shot too, currently in another hospital."

Jimmy: "Not bad though, you're pretty lucky. If he really wanted you dead, he definitely wouldn't have fired just once, and he aid at your leg, a place less likely to be fatal. As for who the guy is, that's up to your further investigation. I won't be involved."

Charles nodded: "Right, Paul wanted to say thanks for him. Things would have been dangerous on the road today if you hadn't been there."

Jimmy waved his hand dismissively: "It's nothing, just part of the job. We're all aiming for the sa goal. Anyway, seeing that you're fine, I can rest easy. After being busy for two days, I need to go ho and take a good rest. I'm sick of eating burgers and pizza, ti to treat myself to a good al."

Charles nodded: "Yeah, you should rest up. Have a good night!"

Jimmy left the hospital. He didn't feel like cooking after two busy days, and decided to eat at a restaurant next to his apartnt instead of laying eyes on another pizza or burger. However, eating alone isn't much fun, so he turned his car around and headed for the police station to see if Nia had any plans.

The old man Chuck was still buried in docunts. Jimmy didn't disturb him and went straight to Nia's desk. It seed her Detective credentials had co through, as Nia was casually dressed during work hours. It looks like quite a bit had happened in the last couple of days.

Jimmy leaned on the partition at Nia's desk and whispered, "Hey beautiful, free tonight?"

Nia recognized the voice without looking up and laughed, then looked up at Jimmy shaking her head, "No, I'll be busy tonight, and... I need to go ho."

Jimmy frowned: "I finally got a day off, co on, let's have dinner together."

Chuck: "Scram, kid, we have work to do here. Really? You just clock out after such a big ordeal today?"

Jimmy turned to Chuck, who had already co up behind him, and said with a furrowed brow, "I haven't seen the news today, what's it about?"

Without giving Chuck a chance to speak, Nia cut in, "There was a shootout at the crossroads, soone fild part of it from a building, the clarity is pretty good. Plus, we got traffic cam footage from the dispatch center covering different angles from the start of the incident to the end of the fight. Want to take a look?"

Jimmy pouted: "Copy it for later when you have ti. I'm actually curious to see my own combat footage from the surveillance angle. It was an ergency today; bad conditions, bad environnt, too many civilians around, had to end the fight quickly. I was with the Federation Court Police's SOG team, a bunch of elites escorting a witness to court."

Chuck took over the conversation: "Jimmy, best you give a heads up to the higher-ups. The TV station folks haven't released your na yet, probably waiting for news. If it's arranged in advance, they won't say anything off-script, otherwise, who knows when they'll put you on the air."

Jimmy: "Hughes should be handling that, I'm not familiar with the TV folks at all. Doesn't really matter anyway, I'm an FBI Detective, my identity is public. If it does co out, so be it, can't imagine anyone preparing to take a potshot at , right?"

Chuck: "You decide, it's not my problem. Now get outta here, we've got a ton of work today, so stop dreaming."

Jimmy: "WTF! Chuck, you can't do this. It's just dinner, won't take long."

Chuck didn't indulge Jimmy and promptly shoved him in another direction and out of the office, with Nia giggling behind them. "Nia, call when you're done, I'm taking off." Jimmy said as he was pushed out, then Chuck closed the door behind them.

Ah, not taking the old guy seriously, whatever, ti to go ho. Might as well eat at the restaurant next to the apartnt.

After dinner, Jimmy went ho, quickly changed clothes, showered, and lay refreshed on the sofa with a can of beer, resting well. He wasn't sure what his limits were anymore; Heart Eye had been maintained for over 12 hours with no significant strain, a stark contrast to before the fusion with Black Rainbow, when an hour after Heart Eye's upgrade would tire him. The difference was huge.
