Back at the office, Intelligence Officer Nick wasn't there, and Jimmy had no idea what leads he might have found these past two days. Just as he put down his travel bag, Hughes's call ca through, and Jimmy sighed, resigned to reporting to Hughes's office.

This ti there was no one else in Hughes's office, just Hughes himself sitting in his chair waiting for Jimmy.

Jimmy, "Hughes, I'm here. Is there anything you need?"

Hughes, "Sit, tell about what happened these past two days."

Jimmy didn't bother with formalities and sat down directly in front of Hughes's desk, then he went through the events of the past two days, including the incident at the villa and the gunfight at the crossroads today. Overall, he had perford ritoriously without fault and achieved significant results. Taking advantage of the storytelling process, Jimmy also used it as a chance to fully recall all his actions over the past two days, making sure nothing was omitted or that he hadn't inadvertently leaked any secrets.

Hughes, "Hmm, you've worked hard. How did Charles perform?"

Jimmy thought for a mont, "So far, so good. Since there were no significant results, it's hard to judge his capabilities. But he managed to stand guard for several hours without lights at night, and his withdrawal from the mission was due to uncontrollable factors, so I'd say he's done a very competent job. The only headache was having to stay alone for over 12 hours due to the shortage of personnel. This ti the Court Police completely miscalculated; their intelligence capabilities need improvent. We were overwheld by the assailants."

Hughes nodded, "Did you visit him at the hospital?"

Jimmy shook his head, "I've just returned from the Federation Courthouse. The mission has just been completed; I didn't have ti to go."

Hughes, "Find so ti to visit him."

Jimmy nodded, "Right, Hughes, I'm requesting so leave; these past two days have been really exhausting."

Hughes looked at Jimmy without speaking. After about ten seconds—his mind surely racing—he finally nodded, "Submit the report to , then take a couple of days off. Rember to attend the psychological assessnt; you might have startled quite a few people. Stay out of trouble in the next few days, and don't go running around."

Jimmy drew a sharp breath; damn, he just knew there would be trouble. He had suspected as much when he overheard Nia's phone conversation, and now Hughes was saying the sa thing; it seed today's news footage was quite explosive. But there was more to Hughes's words, what did he an by having startled quite a few people?

Jimmmy's mind raced as he nodded, "I'll write the report imdiately. Also, there might be no progress on the taxi driver homicide for now. Nick hasn't called with any leads; probably there are no new developnts. I'll continue to handle it after my leave."

Hughes nodded, "Do your best. If it really can't be solved, it won't be due to what happens in just a day or two. Go ahead."

Jimmy stood up, buttoning his suit jacket, and left Hughes's office. Just as he had thought before, Hughes must have set him up for sothing by assigning him to this witness protection mission. And though he was one of Hughes's tools, he knew nothing about the higher ups, currently without any leads.

He also needed to visit Charles. Although Hughes had only ntioned it in passing, it was certainly not without purpose; it seed that this brother Charles had quite a background. Even though Jimmy didn't know what it had to do with him, he decided to head straight to the hospital to see Charles after work, not only because of Hughes's arrangent but also because they had fought side by side, and it was only right to visit him.

Jimmy returned to his desk to begin writing the report. Such reports always required careful consideration of wording and recalling the situation at hand, which was ntally exhausting. Sotis, he really missed the days working in Peter's team when all he had to do was task handling while Diana did the report writing, which was blissful.

He looked up at the office; he was the only one there in such a large space. Perhaps he should apply with Hughes for an intern investigator to co over as an assistant. That way, he could delegate the report writing to them in the future, and all he would have to do was dictate.

Jimmy wrote the report while daydreaming, taking more than two hours to finish. After checking it twice to make sure there were no significant issues, he took the report to Hughes's office. Although it was past closing ti, Hughes had not yet left, waiting for Jimmy's report.

After reviewing the report, Hughes placed it on the desk, "Okay, go ho and rest. Rember to attend the psychological assessnt, and don't make any trouble. Just stay at ho quietly."

Jimmy nodded, "Understood. Goodbye, Hughes."
