After Jimmy finished speaking and sat down, applause rang out again in the conference room. Jimmy looked at everyone present, and on the surface, everyone smiled kindly and no one caused trouble at this ti.

At the end of the applause, Dave smiled and said, "Congratulations, Jimmy, for stopping this serious bomb terrorist attack. Your efforts saved countless lives."

Jimmy: "Thank you, but the credit for this investigation doesn't belong to alone, there was also the support from our bureau, Agent Gordon's team from headquarters, and the cooperation of other federal departnts. It's an achievent that belongs to every one of us."

Dave: "No need to be modest. To be able to find a clue from a seemingly insignificant accident and ultimately lock down the criminal, your hard work and ability are evident for all to see. I think that's a sentint we all share. Hughes, congratulations on training another great young man."

Hughes remained unsmiling, but he was always like that. He looked at Federal Prosecutor Richard Daddario, "Richard, what do you think?"

Richard nodded: "The trail of evidence seems complete, and even though the mastermind wasn't caught, we can proceed with the prosecution without any issue. Sara Browning will take over on my end, and she will arrange for soone to confirm the evidence with Jimmy."

Hughes looked at Dave, "Dave, is there anything else you want to ask?"

Dave shook his head, and Hughes looked at Jimmy, "Jimmy, after you go back, organize all the reports and evidence, and then submit everything to Assistant Prosecutor Sara Browning."

Jimmy: "Understood."

Hughes: "OK, that's it for today. eting adjourned."

The people in attendance dispersed. Jimmy got up, greeted everyone, shaking hands and saying thanks, until only Dave, Hughes, and Jimmy were left in the conference room.

Dave: "Hughes, how is Chris doing?"

Hughes shook his head: "He can only retire now. The doctors advised him to recuperate."

Jimmy: "Wait, what happened to Chris? I haven't seen him for a long ti."

Hughes: "Ah, Chris was diagnosed with liver cancer, stage three. The old fellow never told us, we wouldn't have known if he hadn't been injured and gone to the hospital last ti."

Jimmy asked in surprise: "What? How did that happen? There were no signs before?"

Hughes: "We had no idea either. After Chris handled Vince's case, he was rushed to the hospital, that's when we found out he was already stage three. His hair loss, sobriety, frequent leaves—I just thought he was getting old, who would have thought that this was the reason."

Dave: "I've already submitted Chris's retirent application to the director. As a companion who has served for many years, we will also cover his dical expenses, hoping to make his later days a bit more comfortable."

Hughes nodded: "Thank you, Dave."

Jimmy: "Hughes, where is Chris now?"

Hughes: "Princeton University dical Center. Don't go looking for him, he'll co back to New York after he has undergone treatnt. Your most important task now is to resolve the case and move on to the litigation stage as soon as possible. You should head back now."

Jimmy nodded, thanked Dave, and left the conference room.

Dave: "That young man is quite good. Are you thinking of having him take over?"

Hughes shook his head: "He's still too young, it's been less than a year since he graduated from the academy, and he's really quite young now. Chris had very high praise for him, but he lacks experience. My thought is to have him act as the head of the homicide team temporarily. However, this also needs to be communicated with others; many in the bureau are eligible for promotion, and this choice might not satisfy everyone."

Dave: "You arranged for so many people to attend today's eting so that he could prove his capabilities in front of them, right? Don't you think this is a bit too fast?"

Hughes: "That was part of the consideration. To help him get through the probation period more smoothly, I arranged for him to intern in multiple groups and departnts. The feedback was all positive, and even relations with the NYPD are not bad; it's apparent that everyone quite likes him."

Dave shook his head: "Still too young, and his case is tricky. We were a bit late in intervening, and the issue had already escalated. Even though I've contacted the TV stations to stop broadcasting the video, the public opinion below has already been stirred up, and it's not going to be easy to suppress it."

Hughes: "What do you an?"

Dave: "I'll suggest to the director that we hold an award ceremony for him once this case is over, as a reward and also to put a final note on the previous incident. We've handled a major case and can also showcase our outstanding agents. It's a pity, though, he's not one of us."

Hughes: "I actually think it's good that he's Asian, those blacks keep making trouble, and by promoting him, we can shut so people up."

Dave's eyes flickered, his mind whirling: "We don't have such a tradition, Hughes, think carefully about it."

Hughes shook his head: "I'm not planning to push him, no hope there. But given our current situation, his presence will secure us quite a bit of leeway in the coming years."

Dave nodded: "I understand, Hughes, let's leave it at that." Having said that, Dave left the conference room, and Hughes, watching Dave's retreating figure, also returned to his own office.

Docunt report work was troubleso; the case had gone on for too long. Jimmy had to write the case conclusion, as well as record the corresponding clues and evidence, and the deduction process. It would be close to a month's work. Scratching his head, he began to recall his previous actions, and started on the case report bit by bit.
