Jimmy closed the notebook and placed it in the glove compartnt, this thing was just too important. He wanted to return to the office, but he couldn't rest easy leaving Jinnie still in the room. He thought for a while, then picked up the phone and dialed Chris.
Jimmy, "Chris, if there's nothing urgent now, co to Brooklyn, I've made a discovery."
Chris, "Hmm? Is it serious? Can't it wait until you co back?"
Jimmy, "No, I can't leave here for now. It's not convenient to talk over the phone, you'd better co here. If it's inconvenient, see who else can give you a ride."
Chris was at a loss for words; he had driven to work in the morning, only his left hand was temporarily unusable. "I got it, I'm heading out now."
After hanging up the phone, Jimmy took off his suit and placed it on the passenger seat, he also took out his FBI badge in advance and hung it around his neck, along with the holster under his arm and his Glock on his belt. Apart from the bullet-proof vest, there wasn't much of a problem.
After keeping watch for half an hour, Chris's car arrived behind Jimmy and stopped. Chris walked directly to Jimmy's passenger side, opened the door, and got into the car, "What did you find?"
"The notebook in the glove compartnt." Jimmy looked towards the glove compartnt, then again towards the apartnt entrance. A few people had entered and left the apartnt by that ti, but they seed to be fine. As the saying goes, "The guilty are always suspicious," and any guilty person's actions might seem distorted, but these people looked normal, even though two of them didn't quite look like good guys.
Jimmy, "I used the excuse that the journalist Ashi used to be my informant to get the door opened by soone in Ashi's room. The person inside was Ashi's girlfriend, Jinnie. She showed this notebook. It's the only record Ashi left at ho. Usually, when he leaves, he takes his laptop, voice recorder, and this notebook in his bag, and Jinnie is not familiar with Ashi's business."
Chris, "Laptop? Voice recorder? None of these were found at Ashi's accident scene."
Jimmy, "Correct, so there's a big problem with this case. I'm very worried about Jinnie being in danger at Ashi's house."
Chris nodded, "Well thought out, what else have you found?"
Jimmy, "The content recorded in the notebook is a bit problematic. It seems to be Ashi interviewing soone, the notebook only records bullet points and short sentences. The materials and equipnt ntioned there have given so bad associations. You can probably imagine the other uses for fertilizer and equipnt, right?"
Chris, "Yeah, fertilizer can be used for purification, and the equipnt can be used to make hydrogen gas. Add wireless and remote control devices, and you've got a few hundred kilos of a giant bomb."
Jimmy, "That's just the superficial issue. The key is that set of equipnt. I rember from the training at Quantico, in the counter-terrorism training, it was ntioned that this type of equipnt could also be used to refine so special gases."
Chris, "Are you talking about X?"
Jimmy, "Yes, both V and G extraction processes would use this kind of compression equipnt. If we consider further, the things listed in this notebook aren't everything, then this matter could be larger trouble. Of course, this is just my guess, and I'm thinking towards the worst direction."
I also can't rule out that they're buying these items for personal use, like the several hundred kilograms of fertilizer for starting a gardening company, and that these devices are only to produce helium balloons, and those circuit boards and wireless devices are just for setting up short-distance communication systems within the company."
Chris took a deep breath, his right hand slamming the notebook onto the center console, "Fxxk, what are these people thinking? Whether it's a fertilizer bomb or a gas bomb, we can't let them explode in New York."
Jimmy, "What I'm worried about now is that if Ashi had just uncovered sothing and then went to investigate, it might an that these items have already been successfully transported, and even the production may have already started."
Of course, we can also guess that Ashi was part of the team itself, and they were just planning to acquire these devices. If that's the case, we still have ample ti to find them."
Chris, speechless, stared at the notebook, lost in thought. Jimmy didn't interrupt his thinking; when he himself had co to this conclusion, he had been quite shocked, so Chris being a bit dazed was normal.
Chris took out his phone from his pocket and directly called Hughes.
"Hughes, I'm applying for two long-term surveillance teams."
"Yes, I need them now, one to be deployed in Brooklyn, the other on standby for rotation."
"Okay, I'll co back and tell you, this case got a bit complicated."
Chris hung up the phone and said to Jimmy, "When the surveillance team arrives, you brief them on their tasks, then head back to the office. I'll take this to talk with Hughes first."
Jimmy nodded, Chris opened the car door and returned to his own car, making a U-turn on the road to head back.
Jimmy waited for almost another hour until a phone call ca to his mobile. He looked back and saw a van parked not too far behind. Jimmy took his jacket, put it on, and after looking around, he walked over. The back door of the van opened; Jimmy stepped inside, and sure enough, it was still the old setup, a surveillance van much like that of Jones's.
Jimmy, "Who's in charge here?"
Daniel, ", Daniel Hahn."
Jimmy, "OK, let explain the situation. You need to monitor apartnt 203 in the building directly ahead. The tenant is Ashi Perino; he was killed in an accident a couple of days ago. Currently, his girlfriend Jinnie is in the room."
Focus on two things: first, watch if anyone tries to enter her room to harm her; second, if Jinnie leaves, you need to follow her and see if she ets soone, and investigate that person."
