The case being taken over by the Albuquerque office still has so impact on Jimmy and his team, because currently, they have no other leads, and can only continue to follow up on the subsequent investigations of this case, although this ti they are bystanders, unless clear leads appear.
During the interrogation of the living gang mbers, they indeed obtained so possible leads. This gang is just a small one, with not many mbers and not much assets. An underground sex service station has almost exhausted the won they could bring out, so the won here weren't brought by them. Apart from four "voluntary" girls, the others are actually transient technicians.
And these "voluntary" girls were actually taken over from others. The high-quality ones have of course been intercepted by the upstream, and the quality of people active on the outskirts of this reservation area is usually not very good.
Their upstream contacts are certainly controlled by the boss, and their boss was shot directly while sitting in a chair, so this lead can only indicate that they have one or multiple upstreams, without specifying who they are. Jimmy and his team still don't have specific leads.
Jimmy was also at a loss and could only call Ruiz to ask about their investigation results, also as a way to adjust his mood in his own investigative process.
The progress on Ruiz's side is not too good. The contact records before seventeen have been fully retrieved, and now investigations are being conducted on those who have contacted them. The only good news is that they have not received news that seventeen was hard, nor has anyone co forward to take over the submarine dock. It can be basically judged that seventeen should still be alive at present.
It's considered good news, but evidently, the investigation speed on Ruiz's side is not fast. It's unclear whether it's due to a lack of manpower or difficulty in obtaining leads, but the slow progress increases the possibility of mishap for seventeen. I hope things will go smoothly for Ruiz.
In the evening, when talking on the phone with Nia at the hotel, Jimmy complained that his case was at a standstill. Had he known, he might have gone back to New York for a break. They've been out for more than a month now, and have changed several pieces of clothing in their suitcase.
He already discussed with Hope that if there's no news soon, they might consider going back to see what headquarters plans next. Their case over in DC is essentially considered solved, and what they're doing now is really working on the related cases from the whole case, and not having leads won't affect the normal closure of their previous case.
Nia didn't say much about it. Although Jimmy has been away from ho for quite a while, the cases he's handling are indeed very difficult. Moreover, this kind of case involving the kidnapping and imprisonnt of young girls, as well as the criminals forcing them into prostitution that Jimmy and his team just discovered, is extrely challenging to their normal values. Knowing such cases, they have the ability to solve them, not dealing with them always makes one feel uncomfortable.
When it was close to bedti, Nia suddenly rembered sothing, "Oh right, the phone you placed in the study rang, soone nad Roland called you a few tis, and then there were no more ssages."
Jimmy was shocked. That cell phone was his Little Rock number, and because he had been in New York for too long, people from over there all have his New York FBI number, so that phone basically isn't used often. He just keeps it plugged into a charger in the study as a backup.
Jimmy: "Roland? When was this?"
Nia: "Last night. I heard it was the last ti he called, and after that, there was no more sound. Sorry, I forgot to notify you yesterday."
Jimmy: "Go get the cell phone, I need to record the ti and number, especially those who recently called my phone."
Nia: "Is it important?"
Jimmy: "Yes, a very important person. Go get the phone."
Nia rarely sees Jimmy so tense about a phone call, but it's not the ti to ask in the call. Can ask thoroughly after Jimmy cos back. Now still she got up and went to the study to report the call ti for Jimmy. As for Roland's number, Jimmy of course morized it, and after having Nia report it to verify his mory was correct, he hurriedly hung up the call and used an anonymous phone he bought earlier to dial Roland's number.
The phone couldn't connect, no signal. Either Roland is in a no-signal area, or he's gone back to his world.
Roland wouldn't call Jimmy for no reason, it must be sothing very important. You know last ti when Priest Rodney and they t Roland during an exorcism, Roland didn't contact Jimmy, obviously that incident wasn't enough for Roland to reach out to Jimmy. Unfortunately, it was missed due to a mix-up.
Jimmy checked the ti. Just take the chance these days to make the call. Maybe Roland will appear again, who knows.
Because it's unknown whether Roland's call would affect his schedule later, Jimmy doesn't want to delay too long on this case. The next day, he returned to the Albuquerque office and asked them to adjust the city's gang records involved in sex services. Jimmy and local detectives began screening these records together to see if there was any chance of finding the corresponding target.
