Chapter 31
"Why did you just chase away like that!"
Luo En and the others had barely left the study when that palm-sized White Dragon popped out of Lady rcury's cup.
It wasn't because of any special fetish on his part; it was simply that there was no other source of water in the study.
"Because you weren't suited for that kind of setting," Lady rcury said calmly.
The White Dragon pondered for a few seconds before replying, "After handing over this territory to him, you're just going to wash your hands of it?"
The White Dragon knew full well that the territory was barren—nothing there at all. Luo En might very well starve once he got there.
"My duty is only to guide otherworlders, not to hold their hands and teach them everything step by step."
"Besides, as long as he's got the system on him, an outer god is bound to co knocking."
Though Luo En personally slaying the evil god had co as a bit of a surprise to Lady rcury, that was all it was—just surprise, nothing more.
"He's still wanted across the whole city right now, and you just let him walk? Aren't you afraid he'll get caught again?"
"That's sothing he needs to learn to handle on his own." With that, Lady rcury lounged back lazily in her chair.
"By the way, did you just try to manifest earlier?" She rembered the water in her cup from before and asked offhandedly.
The White Dragon wanted to, but Lady rcury had suppressed him. "No."
"Then it must be that witch's doing," Lady rcury murmured, closing her eyes.
The witch Luo En had rescued was more powerful than she'd imagined.
......
......
Once Luo En had left the study with the docunts Lady rcury had given him, he finally rembered sothing crucial.
"Am I still wanted?" Luo En asked Lilian quietly.
"You're absolutely right," Lilian nodded.
"This is the Normar Empire?" Luo En's expression soured a bit.
"Of course it's not the Normar Empire," Lilian shot him a glance.
"You're a duke of the Normar Empire, but you're not in your own country?"
"For Lady rcury, going anywhere is a simple matter."
Lady rcury had co here solely to find Luo En, this otherworlder.
Hearing Lilian's explanations, Luo En finally let out a sigh of relief.
If he was wanted by the Normar Empire and yet had received territory from the Normar Empire, that would be a real head-scratcher.
"You don't need to worry too much," Lilian began explaining to Luo En. "Even if you've committed a cri, it wouldn't warrant plastering wanted posters of you all over the streets."
"That said, getting out of here easily is going to be tough." She spoke with complete composure, her face utterly calm.
After all, she wasn't the one wanted, so there was no reason for her to get worked up.
And even if they ca after her, how could a white dragon like her possibly fear getting caught? The ones who should be scared were the fools trying to nab her.
Moruna suddenly tugged at Luo En's sleeve. "Luo En, that person in the drawing looks just like you, and the one next to them looks like ."
Luo En looked up, following her finger, and fell silent on the spot.
"There are a lot more around," Moruna quickly spotted even more drawings. "What are these?"
What are these? Wanted posters, obviously, you silly girl.
Lilian took a look and asked, "What exactly did you do?"
Wanted posters of Luo En and Moruna were plastered everywhere on the streets, and the bounty amounts were the kind reserved for serious offenders.
"I threw a noble kid into a trash can and got sentenced to death for it," Luo En said weakly.
He figured that in a feudal country like this, pulling sothing like that was definitely a major cri.
But Lilian shook her head. "Mr. Luo En, even if you'd tossed a noble into a river, they wouldn't put that high a price on your head."
"I chopped the guy up," Luo En tried again.
He had killed soone, after all—no way around it, that was a heavy cri.
"That bounty doesn't add up. It's way too exaggerated." Lilian shook her head; she had a decent grasp of normal reward amounts. "What else have you done?"
The 5,600 gold coins dangling under Luo En's wanted poster were downright terrifying. Even soone with dozens of kills on their record wouldn't fetch more than about 1,000 gold coins.
Luo En thought for a long while, as if sothing was coming to mind, but he wasn't entirely sure.
"Miss Lilian, if this isn't the Normar Empire, then what country is it?"
"The Vandall Holy Kingdom. It doesn't even have as much influence as the Normar Empire."
"I said sothing at the execution grounds."
"What did you say?"
"'From this mont, I am the Enemy of Vandall.'"
Lilian couldn't help but break into a sweat; she instantly understood why Luo En's bounty was so high.
"You should count yourself lucky it's the middle of the night," she said. Her senses picked up only a few guards on patrol.
If it were morning, Luo En would already be in custody by now.
And if he got caught again, the people of the Vandall Holy Kingdom wouldn't settle for just executing him—they'd probably subject him to tortures worse than death.
"I've got a great idea, Miss Lilian." Luo En slapped his thigh, struck by inspiration. "You can fly us out of here."
Luo En figured the city walls weren't that high, and as a dragon maid, Lilian surely had a way to get them over.
"I'm just a delicate maid—I couldn't possibly handle sothing like that." Lilian lowered her eyelids, her voice flat and emotionless, like she was reading from a script.
"You're a dragon maid," Luo En corrected her.
"Getting within a ter of you is already my limit. If I had to carry you, it'd cause serious physical and emotional harm." Lilian touched her forehead, speaking in the most earnest tone.
"I'm not that repulsive, am I?" Luo En felt personally attacked.
"You should reflect on your actions a bit." Lilian said, "I'm already regretting putting my coat over you twice before."
She now felt like her hand had been dirtied by Luo En's shoulder, and no amount of washing could clean it.
As for what exactly he needed to reflect on, that was sothing for Luo En to figure out himself.
Luo En noticed guards approaching with torches and imdiately pulled Moruna down into a crouch. Helplessly, he said, "If we keep this up, I'm really going to get caught."
But to maintain her elegance, Lilian refused to squat, getting caught red-handed instead.
Anyone who wasn't blind would spot Lilian's figure with those torches in hand.
"Who are you?! What are you doing here so late at night!" The guard raised his torch and barked.
"What are you doing!? Hurry up and crouch down!" Luo En said in a panic.
Lilian calmly gathered a droplet of water at her fingertip and flicked it out.
"Bang—" The guard who had questioned her collapsed to the ground on the spot.
"Don't worry, I'm fine." Lilian smoothed her long hair.
But by doing this, Lilian had drawn even more guards, leaving Luo En's jaw practically on the floor.
"Miss Lilian, how do you think we should get out of here now?"
"If I turned into a dragon, it'd be easy for to leave on my own."
"That's not what I an—I an us."
"I'm just a delicate maid; I shouldn't have to worry about things like that."
Luo En wanted to grab Moruna and run, but she shook her head.
Earlier, she hadn't recovered her senses, so she'd just been stumbling around aimlessly. But things were different now.
Moruna stood up expressionlessly and gazed indifferently at the people ahead. "No one's laying a hand on you."
As soon as the words left her mouth, a torrential downpour began, extinguishing all the torches in an instant.
And with the firelight gone, the night in this city grew even thicker.
