Standing in the kitchen, Lin Xinlan was making noodles for Rong Shaoze.

The man was beside her, stir-frying vegetables and making poached eggs.

Soon, two bowls of noodles were ready. Rong Shaoze placed the fried eggs in the bowls, both eggs shaped like peach hearts.

They had eaten this kind of noodle before, back when they’d just escaped from Qiao Yiyang and reunited.

Now, they were eating it again, but it was a ti of separation.

Sitting around the small round table, both of them ate very slowly, as if delaying the al would make ti stand still.

Rong Shaoze’s phone rang twice; he didn’t pick it up.

Lin Xinlan looked up and smiled faintly, "Answer it, they’re probably getting anxious."

"Xinlan, when I co back, let’s make noodles together again," Rong Shaoze said, looking deeply at her.

"Okay."

The man stood up, kissed her on the forehead, then on the lips, and resolutely turned around to leave.

Lin Xinlan stared at his back without blinking, her vision gradually blurred.

The mont of separation is the most painful.

He was unwilling to turn back, and she was unwilling to see him off. This was the only way to lessen the pain of parting.

"Xinlan, what’s wrong? Where is Shaoze?" After an unknown period, Rong Shaoze’s mother’s voice sounded in her ears.

Two bowls of noodles were left on the table, half-eaten and cold.

"He had sothing to do, so he went out." Lin Xinlan lowered her eyes and answered softly.

"Went out? Why didn’t he tell ?"

Because he didn’t want to make more people sad, that’s why he kept it unspoken.

The maternity matron ca down holding Xiaotian and asked with a smile, "Mada, Xiaotian is hungry. Should I give him formula or should you nurse him?"

"Give the child." Lin Xinlan took Xiaotian and went upstairs.

She didn’t want to reveal her sadness in front of others.

The child suckled the milk, feeding contentedly.

Lin Xinlan looked out into the distant sky, her thoughts drifting far away.

Xiaotian finished eating and wet his diaper, but Lin Xinlan was completely oblivious.

The wet diaper made him uncomfortable, and he cried intensely, turning red-faced. Lin Xinlan slowly lowered her head, looked at him, but still showed little reaction.

Hearing Xiaotian’s cries, Rong Shaoze’s mother ca in and quickly took the child.

"Xinlan, what’s wrong with you? The baby cried and you didn’t react. You look so absent-minded."

"Mada, I’m a bit unwell. Could you please help take care of Xiaotian today?" Lin Xinlan said softly.

Rong Shaoze’s mother looked at her and nodded, "Alright, you get so rest."

"By the way, it’s windy today. Don’t take Xiaotian outside; I’m worried he’ll catch a cold," Lin Xinlan added.

In fact, she was indirectly stopping Rong Shaoze’s mother from going out.

"Don’t worry. I wouldn’t take such a young child outside in this weather. I’ll stay ho and take care of him today."

Lin Xinlan smiled faintly, feeling sowhat relieved.

Even if Rong Shaoze’s mother wanted to go out, those outside would stop her; she didn’t have to worry about anything.

All she needed was to stay inside for a few days until the crisis passed.

Rong Shaoze’s mother held Xiaotian and left, while Lin Xinlan sat alone in the room, staring blankly for a long, long ti.

Mrs. Du approached the villa with a bag of fruit but was stopped outside.

"Today, Madam and Young Madam are not receiving guests. If you have any matter, please co another day," said the man who stopped her, disguising as a servant of the Rong Family but actually a mber of the Fla Phoenix organization.

Mrs. Du smiled, "I’m an old friend of Madam Rong. My daughter was once Rong Shaoze’s fiancée. Are you saying I can’t even visit them?"
