"Edward, why are you back?" Hannah heard her husband’s voice, was startled, quickly turned around, and went to greet him.

Maya watched as her dad returned, took a deep breath, and maintained an indifferent expression on her face. anwhile, Elia moved in small, aggrieved steps towards her dad.

"Were you making all that noise in the city last night because life has been too peaceful?" Edward was reproaching those who caused trouble, but his gaze was directed at Jane and Liam upstairs.

The siblings, upon seeing their long-absent father, both let out a sarcastic smile and then simultaneously turned back to their rooms.

"Dad~~~ You have to stand up for . Maya frad while you were gone and even got taken to the police station."

Maya listened to Elia’s accusations without defending herself, instead staring straight at Edward, seemingly waiting for him to handle the matter, or to punish her.

In the past, as long as Elia complained, she would get scolded, regardless of who was really at fault. She was always the one in the wrong, and she was used to it.

But she hadn’t expected that after he left, Hannah and her daughter would beco so audacious.

Edward, seeing Maya staring intently at him, took a deep breath, turned to Hannah and said, "Hannah, when I’m not at ho, I expect the house to be peaceful. Otherwise, I can’t guarantee how stable your position as Madam Spencer will be."

Hannah heard Edward’s words, her face turned pale, and all her resentnt shifted to Maya.

Yet she still forced a smile and explained, "Hey! It’s not that serious, just the two girls playing around. I’ve already scolded them."

Maya listened to Edward’s reproach, unsure whether to be happy or sad. This man was always so selfish, never caring about his children, only his own comfort.

She didn’t understand how her mom could like such a man. After his first wife passed, not even two years had gone by before he took a concubine and married Hannah. It was bad enough he married her, but to get together with her mother too - Maya didn’t like her philandering father, nor any of the Spencers. She never considered herself part of the Spencer Family.

She also knew that regarding the grievances she suffered last night, this man wouldn’t care. He wouldn’t care about the beatings or drugging she endured recently, only that his peaceful life was disturbed.

Thinking of this, the corner of Maya’s mouth twitched coldly as she turned and walked towards her room, thinking returning with Liam last night might have been a mistake.

"Hannah, if anything happens to Elia and Maya, I’ll hold you accountable. As a mother, you better et the standard!"

Maya heard Edward’s words and paused her steps, feeling even more ironic inside. Even though his words seed to protect her, she felt no warmth of a father. From the first ti she t this man, he was like this, waiting for everyone to please him, never caring about others’ feelings.

It wasn’t until two hours later when Edward left the side house that Maya ca out of her room again, searching for food.

At the dining table, she ate the breakfast the maid prepared for her, her mind preoccupied with Ethan Turner and Ella Turner. She wanted to visit Ethan in the hospital but didn’t even have money to buy a gift, nor did she get back the necklace that was taken from her. These were her sources of annoyance.

"Maya, I heard you ran into trouble last night. Are you okay, did you get hurt?" Just as Maya was worrying, Henry Reid suddenly arrived.

Hearing Henry’s voice, Maya gently put down the sandwich in her hand, holding back her anger as she looked at him.

The reason Elia went crazy yesterday was definitely because she saw Henry kissing her, which drove her to risk everything and fra her. Elia was driven mad with jealousy.

So she slowly stood up from her chair, without even looking at Henry, ready to return to her room.

Seeing this, Henry hurriedly grabbed her wrist, looked her up and down, and asked, "Maya, are you hurt anywhere?"

"Henry, stay away from , I don’t like you."

Although she had already warned Elia harshly, she didn’t want to get herself in trouble over a man. She returned to the Spencer Family only to find out the true cause of her mother’s death, not to compete with Elia over a man, especially one she didn’t even like.

"Maya, don’t be so harsh to , okay? I’ve already bought and renovated an apartnt, I’ll take you there now. Please don’t be stubborn anymore, okay?" Henry was practically begging Maya.

He had everything ready, just waiting for Maya to agree, and then he could give her a happy life, or so he thought.

"Henry, stop being delusional. I’m not going to live elsewhere, nor will I be with you. Don’t provoke ; you’ll only bring trouble."

"Maya, everything will be fine if you leave the Spencer Family. I’ll take you away from there."

"Oh! Young Master Reid, you’re in a good mood! Starting to co to the Spencer Family to take people now, but what if my sister doesn’t want to leave with you, what then?" Jane Spencer had sharp ears. Even though the villa was thousands of square ters and the living room far from her room, she was always aware of any commotion in the living room and ca out to watch the drama in ti.

"Sister Jane Spencer, I’m not trying to take anyone from your Spencer Family, but you’ve seen how your stepmom and sister are. They aren’t satisfied unless they destroy Maya. I’m just trying to protect her."

"But she has to be willing to leave with you!" Jane Spencer always liked teasing her younger siblings.

"Sister Jane Spencer, I know you treat Maya the best in the Spencer Family. Please help persuade her for !"

"Her stubbornness, I can’t persuade. Maybe she has other motives for not leaving. Don’t force it."

Maya heard Jane ntion she had other motives, quickly looked up at Jane leaning on the railing, wondering if Liam had told Sister Jane about the study incident. She felt a bit panicked.

"Brother Henry, you’re here!" At this ti, a beautifully dressed Elia ca out, looking at Henry with a beaming smile, quickly running downstairs.

Maya saw Elia coming, took a deep breath, raised her head, pouting, and looked at Henry with an aggrieved expression, sweetly saying, "Henry, my face hurts, my hand hurts, and I bruised my bottom yesterday too. It all hurts so much."

Henry was almost shocked, seeing Maya’s 360-degree change. He never knew Maya could be coquettish.

Hearing Maya say she was hurt, he quickly raised his big hand, touching her face and comforting her, "Those bastards, if I catch them, I’ll skin them alive."

After that, he grabbed Maya’s wrist, checking her injuries.

She shyly said, "There are people here."
