The burning liquor that would usually choke a person felt like plain water this ti, as George River revelled in the searing pain.

It was as if only this feeling could blur the glaring sight before him.

"Hannah Winter." He pronounced each syllable deliberately, as if he used all his strength to voice the na.

His body trembled, his hands clenched into fists, knuckles white, veins on the backs of his hands bulging, and the smile on his lips laced with sourness and agony.

He had never imagined that he would be the one tornted by his feelings for Hannah.

They were once so close to each other...

They even had a "ho" together.

"George, I’ve made dinner, can you... co back?"

That soft tone of voice seed to overlap with the one from not far away.

Only, she was beside another man now, her tender words were given only to him.

*

Jimmy Simmons had been watching Hannah for a long ti, so long that Tiffany Lynch beside him was already feeling dissatisfaction and a sense of threat.

She had dressed up carefully for today; Jimmy was very generous to her, never stingy with money.

Different from George River’s approach, this give-and-take attitude made her feel as if she was back to her life as Eldest Miss Lynch, high above others.

She was still the princess in the lilight, not having to regard anyone else’s face.

Yet, all this crumbled when faced with Hannah.

An inferior imitation.

She did not know how many tis she had heard such remarks.

The sense of defeat she once felt because of George River, when compared to Hannah, drove her to frantically emulate every makeup look of Hannah Winter, even every gesture.

In the end, she was t with full mockery.

But when she finally managed to find her own style again, wanting to make a stunning entrance, a simple white dress could still not outshine Hannah Winter’s grace.

The freshly done manicure scraped across the bag, the small embedded diamonds making a subtle sound, yet the pain from her fingernails could not relieve the anger in Tiffany Lynch’s heart.

She could only force herself to smile, but as she turned and t Jimmy’s gaze on Hannah, the jealousy in her eyes was undisguised.

Indeed, Jimmy’s gaze was on Hannah, but it was not the infatuated look that Tiffany imagined.

It was more like... inquiry?

Hannah’s beauty was undeniable; anyone who saw her once would never forget.

But to Jimmy, it brought a strange sense of familiarity.

As if... he had seen her in a dream?

The thought was so ludicrous that Jimmy dismissed it as soon as it surfaced.

How could it be possible?

As Jimmy collected his thoughts, he did not notice the poorly concealed jealousy and darkness in Tiffany Lynch’s eyes.

All he thought about was that he ought to greet his "uncle."

The encounter between these two "uncle and nephew" was sure to be an extraordinary drama for onlookers, even though the Simmons family now consisted only of these two, barely qualifying as close blood relatives.

But that didn’t bridge the deep-seated hatred between them.

After all, the car accident that led to the deaths of Jimmy’s parents was just too mysterious.

The surroundings gradually quieted down.

Watching the couple walk up to them, the corners of Hannah’s eyes lifted slightly, showing a trace of amusent.

Turning to the man beside her with a calm expression, her eyes sparkled with deeper mirth as she looped her arm through his, leaning her soft body against his.

Their display of affection seed even closer than that of the other two before them.

Jimmy’s glance lingered unintentionally on Hannah for a second.
