He’d almost forgotten the past.

It’s just that occasionally, in the middle of the night, those long-healed wounds would quietly ache, but there wasn’t a ripple in his heart.

He never took those people seriously.

Jimmy Simmons had been wrong all along; it was not for revenge that he held the Simmons Clan in his grasp, it was rely out of pure curiosity.

Curious whether a person with two faces could still remain aloof and superior after losing everything.

Old Sir Simmons was right; he was not of his kind.

He was inherently evil; he enjoyed watching those people lose everything they had, struggling desperately in the mud, gradually revealing their true nature.

In this life, all the tender affection and love he now had, were given to him by his girl, existing solely because of her.

The quiet room filled with the soft voice of a girl and the indulgent words of a man.

"Arnold, did anyone discover you ca here today?"

"No."

The girl was curious, "If anyone saw you, would they think they were seeing a ghost?"

The man remained silent for a while, seeming to sigh, pulling her into his arms, "Perhaps."

What does it matter... what others think?

*

The closer to the mountains, the quieter it beca.

Total silence, occasionally broken by a few harsh cries from the distant forests.

By the ti Hannah returned to the mountains, it was nearly four in the morning, and no one was disturbed.

A rustling sound ca from the corner of the courtyard. Against the moonlight, a vague, humanoid shadow could barely be made out.

Perhaps sensing that soone was looking, the shadow recoiled, trying hard to hide itself, not daring to move, unaware that most of its body was already exposed.

Hannah walked over, moved aside a large pile of firewood, revealing a bruised face full of scars.

Vincent, subconsciously retreated, his eyes trembling open. The mont he saw Hannah, his eyes filled with joy, "Hannah."

He tugged the corner of his mouth, still with that foolish air.

Hannah squatted down, poked his face with her finger, and seeing him gritting his teeth in pain, she found it funny and annoying," what are you doing here?"

Vincent’s face turned red, still feeling the warmth of Hannah’s fingertips on his face, he subconsciously lightened his breath, "Waiting... waiting for you, afraid... afraid I’d miss you when you return."

He didn’t dare to say.

Actually, he was afraid that Hannah would never co back.

When he was tornted by Benjamin Wilson, he did not understand what "a toad lusting after a swan’s flesh" ant, but he did understand one sentence.

"They are just a group of rich people coming here for fun, you really think they will stay here and accompany you, this fool. When they are gone, watch how I beat you to death!"

A heavy punch landed on his head again, causing his vision to darken. But that one sentence stuck in his mind.

Hannah will leave.

He finished talking and lowered his head again, tugging at the slightly old short shirt he was wearing. It was too thin for this weather.

The exposed arm and neck were full of terrifying scars, they looked like they were made by a whip.

"Did they beat you?" Hannah looked at those wounds, shaking her head in disappointnt, "Don’t you know how to fight back?"

Vincent grinned foolishly, "I don’t want to lose Hannah."

Those people said that if he dared to resist, they would throw him into the mountains and never let him co back.

That way, he would never see Hannah again.
