The girl’s voice was both coquettish and charming, like the sensation of fine, darkly-toned velvet gently sliding across the skin.

It tickled in a way.

The words, beguiling.

But all Hannah wanted was...

A mont of turmoil flashed in Jackie Qualls’ eyes, and Hannah quickly let go of his hand.

Switching her mood quicker than flipping the pages of a book, she said, "You always say that you can do anything for , but you can’t even fulfil a small request."

Her expression remained detached, her skin as cold and white as snow, emanating a chilling aura.

The man wanted to explain, but before he could utter a word, he was abruptly interrupted by Tiffany Lynch who had suddenly burst onto the scene.

"Hannah Winter, I didn’t think you would be this kind of person. How can you say such things to Jackie?"

Tiffany Lynch had accompanied Jackie here. Though she was a little late, she had heard Hannah’s words, specifically ant for her.

Naturally, she was annoyed, but in front of Jackie, she still had to maintain her perfect image.

Hannah just responded with a glance and kept silent.

Tiffany Lynch was irked by her nonchalance which she interpreted as provocation. She turned her red-rimd eyes to Jackie and said in a pretended soft tone, "Jackie, despite not knowing why Hannah is acting against , we have known each other for many years and I understand you. You wouldn’t do such things, would you?"

Looking at the tall man beside her, she couldn’t help herself from blushing.

Jackie Qualls naturally had superior looks and although not as handso as George River, his matured charm was clearly evident.

Being admired by such an outstanding man was what Tiffany Lynch had always been proud of.

However, Jackie’s attention was solely focused on Hannah, and he barely spared Tiffany a glance.

Tiffany’s expression beca sowhat difficult to comprehend, but she managed to wear a smile and spoke to Hannah, "Hannah, I don’t know why you have such a grudge against . Perhaps there were so issues between you and George in the past, but that’s history now. I believe George treated you well while you were with him, right?"

She casually brought up the matter of George taking care of Hannah, disguising it as an attempt to diate their quarrel while aiming to reveal who exactly Hannah was to Jackie.

How upright could a woman willing to be kept by a man be?

Tiffany sneered internally.

However, Hannah only maintained her usual composure without any intention to argue with her. She glanced at Tiffany and spoke to the man beside her, "Mr. Qualls, if you can’t do what I asked, please try to keep your distance from in the future."

Upon hearing this, Jackie looked up abruptly at Hannah, his fists clenching and unclenching finally ending up in a tight grip. His response was hoarse but firm, "Impossible."

He had barely got closer to her again, but her words had pushed him away yet again.

She was rejecting him; the notion was like a sharp needle stabbing him in the heart, making his breaths taste like blood.

But why? She used to love him too.

Why...

They had both been through the sa pain, the sa people.

Hannah should know, he was the only one who truly had her best interests at heart, who would protect her.

Hannah didn’t understand what Jackie was thinking. She gave him an odd look and turned away, leaving directly.

Jackie instinctively wanted to follow her but was stopped by Tiffany Lynch, "Jackie do you really want to hurt just because Hannah said so?"
