Although the company employees on the surface acted as usual, each ti they faced him, there was an inexplicable look in their eyes.

It was as if they were looking at a favorite vase with regret over a scratch on it.

He was tempted to stop and question them on multiple occasions, but it was futile. In the end, he had to target his own assistant.

However, the assistant rely suggested delicately and kindly, "Director River, the restaurant downstairs makes an excellent okra main dish you might want to try."

With that, the assistant left, and George still looked flummoxed.

Okra?

George never managed to try the reputedly excellent okra dish in the restaurant downstairs, because he had an important private dinner party to attend in the evening, where many people from the business world would be present.

He was no exception.

George gave Tiffany Lynch early notice to attend the banquet with him, and she didn’t decline.

He let out a sigh of relief.

He usually attended these types of banquets alone in the past, even when Hannah Winter begged him multiple tis to take her along, he had never consented.

Because the space beside him was reserved for only one person.

Perhaps he was not even aware himself that each ti such occasions arose, he would subconsciously think of that woman.

At the banquet that night, Tiffany Lynch wore an opalescent pale-coloured long gown, her hair was done up, and little wisps fell onto her exposed shoulders. Every move was filled with warmth and grace, almost attracting the attention of all the n in the room.

George standing by her side made her even more radiant.

Tiffany Lynch, after all, hailed from high society, and even though her family had fallen on hard tis later, "a cal starved to death is still bigger than a horse". Habits cultivated from childhood couldn’t be altered, and she was completely at ease in such an environnt.

The smile on George’s face beca more indulgent and tender, his gaze lingering as if his eyes could only accommodate the person by his side.

After greeting many, his lingering gaze, by chance, fell upon a profile in a corner, and his whole expression froze, and his hand around Tiffany’s waist involuntarily tightened.

"George, what’s wrong?" Tiffany Lynch followed George’s gaze in confusion.

But before she could see anything clearly, George returned to his normal state and quietly reassured her, "It’s nothing, I just saw an acquaintance."

"Is that so?" Tiffany Lynch gave a small smile and considerately suggested, "Why don’t you go say hello then?"

She asked out of politeness, but surprisingly, George didn’t refuse, and simply nodded his head.

Catching sight of the delicate, graceful figure in the corner, her smile dimd slightly, but she still let go of George’s hand, pointing at another direction, "I’ll go sit over there, then."

George nodded, his voice sounded gentle but with a hardly noticeable urgency, "Alright."

Tiffany Lynch went away.

Only after making sure that she couldn’t see him, George brought his assistant to the side and asked in a low voice, "Why is Hannah Winter here?"

He had clearly warned this woman never to appear before him again.

What was she playing at now?

Had she not given up yet?

The assistant was also at a loss.

This was a private banquet and would be impossible to get into without an acquaintance. Besides, from his previous encounters with Miss Winter, she didn’t seem to be the type to not take no for an answer.
