"Don’t get into fights with others."

Hayes Edwards laughed, bent slightly, and supported his knees, keeping eye contact with Grace Winter, "I say, isn’t this little friend of mine worrying a bit too much?"

Grace was startled by his sudden closeness and took a small step back, her lips drawn into a straight line, "I’m not a little kid anymore, and you’re only two years older than anyway."

Seeing that she seed a bit angry, Hayes didn’t bother teasing her anymore, "Alright, so the not-a-kid Grace can obediently stand aside now?"

"Stand aside for what?" Grace asked him.

He chuckled, confidence and swagger lighting up his brows and eyes, "To watch play basketball, of course."

The hidden aning: watch show off.

Grace: "...Narcissist."

After speaking, she picked up her backpack that was placed to the side and dashed away.

Hayes stood in the sunlight, looking at her departing figure, amused, "Just like when she was a kid."

At the end of the year, it was the 80th anniversary of the school celebration of Dawn Light Middle School, which had been a part of Dawn Light’s junior high division many years back, so a batch of students was organized to visit, including Grace.

Hayes didn’t know about this beforehand, so when he bumped into Grace at the school, he thought he was seeing things.

Grace was still wearing the Dawn Light uniform, with no one beside her, wandering around like she was lost.

"What are you doing here?" Hayes ran over, still dressed in his sports jersey.

Grace’s eyes lit up instantly when she saw him, "I ca to visit your school, but I got lost."

As she said the second half of the sentence, she touched her flushed earlobe a bit, embarrassed.

Like a cat, her tail suddenly drooped.

Hayes couldn’t leave her wandering alone here, "Wait for here for a mont, don’t run off."

Grace nodded obediently, her gaze following him, "Okay."

Hayes returned to the basketball court, tossed the ball to his teammates, said a word to them, and then ran back to Grace with his coat, "Let’s go, where do you want to go, I’ll take you."

"I’m going to the auditorium," Grace said.

Hayes took her along.

Today’s school celebration performances were all in the auditorium, which was almost fully seated.

Hayes only missed it because of basketball team practice, but even without practice, he wasn’t interested in these performances.

"Do you want to go in with ?" Grace asked him quietly when they reached the entrance.

Even though there were students from their school in the auditorium, since she arrived late, she could only sit in the empty seats at the back.

She felt a bit nervous and scared.

Hayes checked the ti, "I’ll watch with you for a while."

Grace’s eyes curved with a smile, delighted, "Okay."

They sat together watching the performances on stage.

Actually, each class prepared their own performances, nothing too new or exciting going back and forth.

Hayes was uninterested.

He would rather be outside playing basketball.

Thinking like this, he turned to look at Grace sitting beside him. She was watching intently, her eyes reflecting the stage lights, sparkling, with dimples visible on her cheeks when her lips curved into a smile.

Her sweet smile, obedient, like the sun.

Hayes couldn’t figure out what was so interesting about these shows.

Still the sa childishness as before.

Hayes turned seventeen during his second year of high school.
