"You live right across from Grace, how could you have never run into her?"
In reality, they really hadn’t run into each other.
Even their tis for going out and coming back ho were staggered.
Joy Hoffman noticed Hayes Edwards was getting more annoyed and quickly added, "How about we ask Grace to hang out this weekend? It’s been ages since we all played together."
They used to play in the neighborhood all the ti on weekends, it was really convenient.
Hayes nodded irritably, "Whatever you guys want."
On the weekend, everyone finally gathered again, and Helena even brought snacks.
Hayes originally planned to play basketball, but seeing two girls, he changed the ga.
"Let’s play hide and seek!" Helena excitedly suggested, "Grace, what do you think?"
Grace Winter was sucking on a lollipop and nodded in agreent, "Okay."
Everyone agreed, and before the ga started, they set the rules: no hiding too far away and no hiding inside buildings.
Once everyone was on board, the ga began.
The first round, it was up to Chubby to find everyone.
He sat on a bench, covering his eyes, loudly counting, and would start searching after fifty counts.
By the ti he reached twenty, everyone was already hiding, except Grace Winter, who was torn between hiding behind the flower bed or the big tree.
In the end, it was Hayes Edwards who couldn’t stand it anymore and pulled her away.
In the following rounds, Grace was almost always the first to be found.
But she didn’t seem discouraged at all, her eyes curved in laughter, and her dimples appeared especially sweet, "I’m going to start counting now."
Hayes looked at her with her eyes covered and muttered, "Silly girl."
This round, Grace found Hayes first.
Chubby was incredulous, "Brother Edwards hides so well, how could he be found first!"
Everyone else was surprised too.
Hayes couldn’t be bothered to explain, went straight to the wall, turned his back to everyone, and started counting down.
With the ga on, people quickly forgot about this.
In the first exam of the first year of middle school, Hayes ranked bottom again. He was the notorious troublemaker in the class, often talking during lessons, and teachers found him a headache.
Every ti they talked to him, he acted as if he was listening, but afterward, nothing changed.
In the second sester of the first year, several seniors from the ninth-grade basketball team couldn’t stand Hayes’ arrogance and invited him to play... basketball.
It was still the sa basketball court, but this ti the audience was much larger, even the PE teachers without classes ca to watch.
Hayes wore a fiery red jersey, a white sports headband on his head, and his face, though youthful, was strikingly handso, coupled with a height not inferior to the ninth-grade seniors, making him look carefree and vibrant.
From kindergarten to middle school, wherever Hayes went, he was always the center of attention.
This ga, the cheers for him were overwhelming.
By the ti Grace arrived, the basketball court was surrounded by layers of people; even standing on tiptoes, she couldn’t see what was happening inside.
Apart from the cheers, the sound of basketballs hitting the hoops echoed, making one’s blood boil.
"Hayes Edwards is so handso!"
"I heard he’s not just good at basketball, he’s a fierce fighter. Haven’t you heard? In elentary school, he smashed several chairs to pieces!"
"Is that true? So handso and bad, I’m in love!"
"Get a grip..."
