Her decision to retire at the peak of her career shocked everyone.

People praised her for her talent, and admired her for her daring nature.

Six years in the industry, her output wasn’t high, but each work was a masterpiece. Whether acting or singing, she treated both with the sa dedication.

And through those six years, Jack Stewart was always by her side.

The professor still marveled at how unexpected it was that Jack, who had majored in directing, ultimately chose to beco a talent agent.

"Do you have any plans to go back to directing in the future?" the professor asked.

Jack shook his head, "Probably not."

Downstairs, the festivities were in full swing. The stage had already been set up, and the air was filled with youthful laughter and excitent.

They were just like this back in the day.

The professor still rembered how Hannah had the nickna "Wooden Beauty" at school—people said she had a pretty face but lacked spirit.

However, her transformation later was completely unexpected.

"I don’t know what made her suddenly seem like a different person, but regardless, the outco was good."

What brought about such a drastic change?

Jack simply smiled and bid the professor farewell.

"The anniversary celebration is in a week. Be sure to co, alright?" the professor said, seeing him off at the door.

Jack gestured for the professor not to follow and nodded, promising to attend.

The school was already decorated with bright red lanterns. Near the stage, students were busy hanging banners. The path they used to walk together had new trees planted along its sides.

The branches were lush, with small buds tucked away like hydrangeas among the green leaves.

On the basketball court, people were playing, and the moon was clear and bright in the sky.

Hannah was gazing at the moon too.

Lying on a straw mat, with the distant bonfire glowing brightly, Big Round was running in the fields with his new companion, Big Yellow. Nearby, Golden Lotus sat on a rock, looking toward the moon.

"It’s trying to absorb the essence of the sun and moon," she said.

Hannah joked that the dog was preparing to beco an immortal and fly away.

Arnold Simmons ca over, shining a flashlight, holding a paper bag filled with local snacks.

"Mrs. Li gave them to on the way here," he explained.

Mrs. Li was the owner of the hostay they were staying at. She often made snacks to sell at the village entrance when she had free ti.

Though they called it a village, Bulai felt more like an ancient town, with convenient transportation and everything they needed readily available.

Arnold sat down next to Hannah, and she naturally leaned into him, resting her head on his lap while reaching for the paper bag.

"It’s hot," he said, raising the bag slightly out of her reach.

The snacks were fried and fresh from the pan.

"Okay," Hannah replied, obediently pulling her hand back, though her eyes remained fixed on the snacks.

Earlier, Mrs. Li had given her a piece, and after tasting it, she remarked on its sweet and rich flavor. It was very delicious.

Arnold wasn’t fond of sweet snacks.

But Hannah loved them.

Whenever they traveled, he would be the one to pack up and prepare their daily necessities, while Hannah squatted to the side, rummaging for her jar of fruit candies.

The transparent glass jar was filled with brightly wrapped candies.

It had all sorts of flavors.

Orange-flavored ones were the most abundant.

Every ti her jar of fruit candies was nearly empty, Arnold would have already prepared a new one for her.

When the moon rose to its highest point that night, Hannah was already feeling drowsy.

Arnold gathered her into his arms and asked, "Want to go back and sleep?"

She shook her head, burying her face in the crook of his neck, making him feel a tingling warmth. Her scent was tinged with the sweet sll of candies. "Fireflies."

The villagers said that around this season, many fireflies would fly into the night sky, twinkling like stars. The children in the village loved watching them.
