She picked a bunch of stuff, and Hannah bought the most sparklers, as for those long strings of firecrackers lying on the side... she thought about it and decided not to buy them.
Because it’s quite troubleso to clean up after setting off those firecrackers, and she is pretty lazy.
After selecting the items, she asked the owner to calculate the cost, and Hannah switched hands to hold the bag in her hand.
The bag was already heavy, and after carrying it for a while, it beca quite burdenso.
By the ti the owner handed over the bagged fireworks, she was too occupied to even take out her phone to pay.
There were many people around, everyone crowded together, soone from behind urged her to hurry, she could only put down her things first, just as she was about to take out her phone from her pocket, a pale slim hand appeared in front of her.
Arnold Simmons naturally took the bag from Hannah, scanned the code, then turned to ask her, "How much is it?"
Hannah was stunned, she hadn’t yet realized how he suddenly appeared here.
Arnold, without showing impatience, asked again, "How much is the total?"
Hannah snapped out of it, "Ei...eighty-eight."
Arnold paid the money, took the bag, "Quite an auspicious number."
With the paynt done, he then pulled Hannah out of the crowd.
What seed extrely heavy in Hannah’s hands, felt like carrying an empty backpack in his hands, effortless.
Standing at the corner, Arnold looked down at the person beside him, "Going ho or going to buy sothing else?"
Although it had only been a few days since they last t, for so reason, Hannah felt that the young man in front of her seed a bit different.
Did he lose weight? Or maybe he grew taller?
He was wearing a black hoodie today, the hood was a bit big, almost covering his brows and eyes, but when he looked down, she could clearly see those dark eyes.
There was a smile in them.
"How co you are here?" Hannah asked him.
With the items now in Arnold’s care, she felt much relieved and finally had the space to rub her frozen fingers.
Arnold glanced at her hands and then looked away, casually saying, "Just passing by, saw you by chance."
He seed not keen on continuing with that topic, quickly changing the subject, "Shall I walk you ho?"
Hannah looked at the contents of the bag, shook her head, "I still have things to buy."
"What things?"
"Haven’t bought vegetables yet."
Hannah isn’t really good at cooking, simple dishes like tomato eggs were fine, but asking her to cook a duck or stew a goose was a bit challenging.
So when they reached the vegetable market, she picked out only small vegetables.
Arnold couldn’t help but watch, "You’re just eating these for the New Year?"
Hannah compared two mushrooms in her hand, eventually choosing the prettiest one, "It’s just alone, too much and I can’t finish it all."
After saying this, she also lifted two handfuls of scallions she picked, asking Arnold, "Which do you think is better?"
Arnold glanced at them, "The left one."
Hannah put down the scallions on the left, "I still think the right one looks a bit better."
"..."
After watching Hannah choose mushrooms, scallions, and potatoes, Arnold finally couldn’t resist saying again: "Are you a sheep? Only eating vegetables?"
He now understood why the young girl loved to eat candy, most likely because she wasn’t eating well, and hence had low blood sugar.
"No." Hannah shook her head, pointed to her basket with vegetables, "Look, there are eggs here."
"..."
After a mont of silence, Arnold pulled Hannah to the other side of the vegetable market, where mostly chicken, duck, fish, and at were sold.
