"Why are you doing this?" Zaque asked, voice filled with disdain and uncertainty.
"Doing what?" Coco raised a hand and rubbed her nose, "Providing for you and the other diators of Coco Hughes? If that’s it then I don’t have much to say."
"Don’t have much to say.." Zaque murmured, his eyes watching Coco’s movent like a hawk, "Why are buying baking supplies? We don’t have anything at ho that could be used for baking."
Coco seed to just realize that because she froze, her body grew stiff and rigid.
"Nothing? No oven? Clay oven? Earth oven? Cooking pit? No microwave? No nothing?" Coco asked, her eyebrows furrowed in disbelief.
"What? I an, we do have a cooking pit because that’s where Heiren cooks our als and we have this clay oven you speak of, but we can’t use it because we don’t have red magic stone." Zaque huffed out, staring at her in a confused manner.
"Magic stone?" Coco blinked, her rubbing motion on her nose ceasing as she gasped, her eyes wide and bright, "We have magic here?"
"Yes..?" Zaque said, his voice trailing off with reluctance, "Everyone has a mana here, even people like us."
"This world has magic?!" Coco gasps, her body trembling with delight and excitent, the previous gloomy mood of hers vanishing in an instant when she learned sothing amazing.
"Yes? How many tis do I have to repeat my answer?" Zaque’s lips pursed into a tight line, "Or is this another trick if yours to tell or any of your husbands that you’re not our wife? Is that it?"
His questions are contemptuous, but Coco did not care nor hear any of those. She was too busy buzzing with excitent as she laughed quietly to herself.
Magic stone? Mana? Magic?! This world has magic! Coco thought with joy, the glee she exuded was so apparent that people who passed by started to look at her and shoot her weird looks.
Zaque doesn’t know what was wrong or what his wife was thinking, but the happy and pleased expression on her face made his heart drop to his stomach.
What is she planning this ti?
Fortunately, the man ca back out with two bags filled with different baking tools. The sounds the wood and tal made had snapped Coco out of her dreamland, making her look at the man.
"Here are the things you ordered for, Mrs. Hughes." The man grunted out, struggling to get down the two flights of steps because he couldn’t see where he was going.
Coco rushed over, completely forgetting the fact that a certain fairy was sleeping inside the bag and accidentally squished it when she grabbed one bag from the man— making him let out a sigh of relief.
"I have given you asuring cups, spoons, spatula, rolling pin, dough cutters, mixing bowl, whisk— I don’t have aluminum so I gave you a wooden one, I hope you don’t mind." The man smiled tenderly towards her, handing her the other bag.
"Thank you so much!" Coco bead at him as she accepted the bag, "Say, does this village sell any magic stone thing?"
Her question made the man and the first husband gape at her, their eyes wide with astonishnt and Coco could only blink at their reaction, not fully understanding what was wrong with what she said.
"Child.. A single magic stone costs at least two gold coins and the durability as well as the quality of the stone is not even guaranteed!" The man tutted out, a frown settling on his face.
"But it will make my husbands’ lives much easier, right?" Coco tilted her head, a genuine and curious look on her erald irises.
Unable to resist such a face, the man cleared his throat and looked away, "That’s right.. It will make your darlings’ lives much easier, but might potentially drain them by the end of the day."
"Okay! Can you tell who sells magic stones in this village?" Coco totally ignored the man’s last statent and continued to pester him with details about the magic stones, "If you tell , I’ll give you discounts for anything I’ll bring ho tonight!"
"Mrs. Tani is the only one who sells magic stones." The man quickly answered, not letting go of the opportunity of buying those rumoured monster at and fruits that Coco brought to the village for the past two nights.
"It was nice to do business with you!" Coco said, turning in her heels and putting the bag to her other hand before grabbing Zaque on the wrist again.
"Let’s drop these off before we go out again to buy ingredients for baking." Coco humd out, her legs carrying her through the street full of busy people with practiced ease, dragging Zaque towards the house.
She didn’t even give the first husband to react, the mont they got ho, Coco slamd the door open, startling the other three husbands in the dining table.
"Coco? What are you—"
Heiren was abruptly cut off when Coco unceremoniously dropped the bags on the floor and turned around, grabbing Zaque once again as she made a beeline towards the door.
"There are vegetables in one of the bags! Cook sothing to eat while I borrow Zaque for a while!" Coco scread over her shoulder, not looking back to the other husbands as she kept dragging an astonished Zaque behind her.
The three husbands watched Coco and Zaque run off until they disappeared in the distance, then all looked at each other, confused and startled expressions on their faces.
What could the first husband be doing with Coco? Letting her drag him like a doll?
Isn’t he the one who hated their abusive wife more than anyone else? Why is he hanging out with her, looking all shocked and cozy with her?
"She said one of the bags has vegetables." Alhai spoke up and glanced at the bags.
"She’s probably lying." The fourth husband said, despite knowing that he was just in denial.
