Chapter 49: Family Concern
They didn't stay in the study long—just about half an hour—before Ryosuke had clearly laid out the mission details.
"Father, I won't be having dinner at ho tonight," he said, rising from his chair. "I forgot to bring any gifts for Hinata this ti. I'm going to pick her up from school and take her out to eat as a make-up."
If this had co from a kid who hadn't even started elentary school, it might've sounded strange.
But in this world, it was perfectly normal.
Across from him, Hiashi Hyuga hesitated, then tried to offer a suggestion. "The chef's cooking here isn't any worse than what you'll get outside."
Ryosuke chuckled as he tucked the chair back under the table. "True, but you can eat at ho anyti. Eating out feels more like a gift—or a surprise."
"...Alright," Hiashi finally said, giving in. "Before you leave, tell Aliang not to prepare too much food tonight."
"Got it," Ryosuke nodded, then turned to leave after bidding his father goodbye.
With Souji and Hoshicai by his side, he exited the study and stepped into the courtyard.
Almost imdiately, Souji—who had clearly been debating whether to say sothing—finally spoke up.
"Master Ryosuke, did you forget sothing?"
Beside him, Hoshicai looked just as puzzled.
"I'll find ti to report the Uchiha situation to Father later," Ryosuke replied casually, then added, "But for now, do either of you know any clan mbers who've shown skill in dical ninjutsu? Soone trustworthy, ideally with a good reputation with the main family."
He extended a hand. "Let have the scroll."
Souji reached into his pack and handed over a sealed scroll. "Hoshicai probably knows more than I do. He's been learning so dical ninjutsu himself."
"dical ninja, huh..." Ryosuke muttered, looking toward Xingcai.
He hesitated, then gave a small bow. "I'm sorry, Master Ryosuke. No one cos to mind imdiately. Would you mind giving a little ti to think it over?"
"Of course," Ryosuke nodded, accepting the scroll. "Think it through and find people who are both capable and trustworthy. Don't limit it to just one—make a list."
"Yes, Master Ryosuke," Hoshicai replied respectfully.
"You two should get so rest," Ryosuke added with a small smile. "You've been out for days. Ti to go ho, see your families. I'll be fine here in the village. If anything happens, I can handle it."
He gave them a brief wave. "Besides, you've got that special training with Father tomorrow—and the Jōnin exam is coming up. You'll need to be at your best."
"Yes, understood," the two replied in unison.
They'd originally planned to escort him until his trip ended tonight, but after hearing that, they knew it was ti to step away.
Ryosuke watched from the courtyard as they disappeared through the gate. Only once they were gone did he turn and head toward his room, scroll in hand.
He didn't plan to report the Uchiha ambush to his father just yet.
Hiashi's concern for him was far deeper than Ryosuke had expected.
If his father found out about this little trip and the danger Ryosuke had put himself in, he'd absolutely tighten the leash again. There was a very real chance Ryosuke wouldn't be allowed to leave the village again until reaching Chūnin level.
People who travel always report good news to their family—not bad news.
As for asking Hoshicai about dical ninja, it wasn't just curiosity. It was about those three pairs of Sharingan sealed in the scroll.
Thanks to their Hyuga bloodline, Ryosuke knew the clan excelled in chakra control, which translated to strong potential in dicine.
So mbers had surely made notable achievents in that field.
But knowing of them wasn't the sa as knowing them personally. He couldn't judge their trustworthiness based on rumors alone.
After storing the scroll safely in his room, Ryosuke stepped back out.
It was just about ti to pick up Hinata from school.
"Yeah... yeah..."
As he passed Hanabi's room, he heard her babbling nonsense inside.
She could already walk and talk, more or less, but still had a habit of expressing herself with weird, half-ford sounds and phrases only she understood.
Still, Ryosuke wasn't here to play with her. He was looking for Aliang, the housekeeper in charge of household matters.
Sure enough, he stepped inside to find a stout middle-aged woman crouched down, teaching Hanabi to read while playing with her.
"Ryos-ke!"
Hanabi's eyes lit up when she spotted him. She scrambled up on her chubby legs and waddled toward him.
"Easy now," Ryosuke laughed as he bent down and caught her in his arms.
"Roske, where's Sister?" Hanabi asked in her childish voice, glancing curiously outside. She rembered him saying earlier that he was going to pick Hinata up from school.
"I was going to take you with so we could all go out to eat together," Ryosuke said, smiling warmly.
Carrying her over, he spoke to the woman nearby. "Auntie Liang, we won't be eating dinner at ho tonight. I'm taking them out."
Aliang nodded respectfully. "Yes, Master Ryosuke. But the Master ca by earlier and asked us to prepare a special al for your return."
She glanced toward the kitchen and added, "At this hour, the dishes are probably already in the pot. If we cancel now, it'll go to waste."
"...Did my father personally request it?" Ryosuke paused.
Aliang nodded.
"...Alright. Then we'll stay and eat at ho tonight, and go out tomorrow instead," he said, gently setting Hanabi down. "No wonder Father looked like he wanted to say sothing earlier. I guess after being gone so long, it's not right to leave again the mont I get back."
Aliang smiled warmly. "That's wonderful. I'll ask the kitchen to prepare a few more dishes. It'll taste just as good as any restaurant."
"Thanks, Auntie Liang."
Ryosuke reached down to straighten Hanabi's clothes. "Since we're staying in, then you'll have to wait for at ho, alright?"
Unlike most kids who would've thrown a tantrum, Hanabi simply nodded. "Okay. Just bring Sister back quickly!"
"Got it," Ryosuke grinned, pinching her cheek before saying goodbye to Aliang.
There were many non-Hyuga working in the estate, and Aliang was one of them—just an ordinary woman.
That's why she referred to Hiashi as "Master" rather than "Clan Head," like most Hyuga did.
