Capítulo 1176: Chapter 501: Choices_3

“Relax, there aren’t many Qataris here; our ho is on the vast sea, though… though it’s full of storms and heavy rain now, it’s still much better than being here.”

“Moreover, the newly arrived warriors are often filled with fighting spirit, their hearts brimming with faith and determination.”

“In terms of actual combat power, they’re no worse than their predecessors.”

The words rolled off his tongue, cold and detached, as if the camp before him wasn’t filled with living beings, but rather with livestock awaiting slaughter.

For so reason, Odysseus always felt he was drifting further away from his once-dread self.

It wasn’t just the emotional evaluations; even in terms of sheer strength… Despite countless battles where he had faced life and death situations, even if now his sword skills had surpassed several levels from the past.

But Odysseus felt that if he were to duel with his forr self, even if he could initially gain an overwhelming advantage and even push him to the brink.

Ultimately, the one who would die would undoubtedly be his current self.

Unknowingly, it seed he had lost a certain ability, a power that the fad demigod heroes of ancient tis possessed, which could erupt in the face of life and death.

What remained was rely a shell nad Odysseus.

“Let’s go.”

“Since we’re awake now… let’s take a walk around the camp.”

Taking a step forward, Odysseus decided not to linger any longer.

But after just a few steps, he frowned slightly and looked back at Mode.

Mode didn’t seem inclined to leave with him; instead, he appeared profoundly troubled.

After a mont of silence, Odysseus asked:

“What’s wrong? Do you have sothing to say to ?”

“…Yes.”

Mode nodded slowly, his expression sowhat conflicted.

“Odysseus… do you rember that debate?”

“…What about it?”

The debate… he rembered it vividly.

Yet, at this mont, Odysseus was unsure why Mode was bringing it up.

“If you were to debate once more… would you still stand by the faith of the gods?”

“…It’s just a debate, what difference does it make?”

No direct response, Odysseus continued to press.

“…Not much difference, but not long ago, I received a ssage from Ithaca.”

Drawing a deep breath, his expression grew complicated.

Recalling the content of the ssage, Mode began to convey it bit by bit.

“Due to storms, heavy rains, earthquakes, and natural disasters, in addition to the godhood practitioners devoted to the Sea Emperor experiencing various mutations, even newborns among the aristocrats blessed with other divine blood no longer erge as extraordinary.”

“As there was no other choice, the kingdom’s aristocracy and royalty began seeking the protection of other deities.”

“They constructed even more grandiose and extensive temples for the Sea God, the ruler of the near seas, within the Olympian Pantheon, who once obeyed the orders of His Majesty Poseidon.”

“But the Sea God ignored them, choosing an enduring silence.”

“They then offered sacrifices to the Ocean God and the Primordial Water Goddess, rulers of the far seas, praying for the calming of the storms, the dispersal of clouds, so they could again extract salt from seaside salt fields, harvest catches from the sea, and trade for bronze.”

“Yet the Ocean God System’s deities likewise ignored them, maintaining their usual tranquility.”

“Next, they prayed to the Sun God Apollo, but the Sun God could not quell the tumultuous waves of the sea.”

“He rely descended with a prophecy, informing the kingdom’s subjects that all these disasters stemd from the Sea Emperor’s disappearance, but ultimately, nurous sea deities would subdue it.”

“At their wit’s end, they prayed to the Goddess of Hearthfire.”

“Though the Goddess bestowed a divine miracle, bringing them warmth, she was equally powerless to transform the sea and renew the entire kingdom.”

“In the end, no matter how many attempts were made, the gods either offered no response or rely delayed the kingdom’s doom… this was an unchangeable fate for a kingdom near the sea.”

“Until one day, deep within the islands, they discovered so ancient ruins.”

Though the ruins weren’t described, Odysseus had a faint suspicion.

Connecting it with the previous words, perhaps there, they found traces of an ancient deity capable of mitigating the calamities from the sea.

After all, most ancient gods of the present age were either well-known or were deities outside the Olympian Pantheon.

So, what Mode might be insinuating is whether he should punish his subjects for shifting their faith when facing disasters in Ithaca?

“If that’s the case, I won’t bla them.

“But who is this ancient god, could it be so eternal prisoner?”

Imdiately associating it with that Titan Deity, the Bronze Creator, also one of the main figures in that debate.

Protheus the Foreseer, indeed imprisoned in the seas, and definitely closely connected with humans.

If his power leaked from the Sea Eye, it’s possible it could aid the human clan at sea.

Yet facing his query, Mode first nodded, then shook his head, leaving Odysseus sowhat bewildered for a mont.

“What does that an?”

“It indeed concerns the Bronze Creator, Protheus who stole the fire.”

“But actually, the crux of the issue lies beyond that.”

Taking a deep breath, Mode explained in a solemn voice:

“In truth, those aren’t even relics of this epoch, but rather remnants from an earlier period, from the previous era.”

“The earliest humans, ancestors of the Golden Age, once lived here.”

“And they were also devout worshippers of deities.”
