Capítulo 1175: Chapter 501: Choices_2

A fleeting mont before his eyes, as if it were yesterday.

Odysseus recalled the earnest advice of his father and the dreams he had pursued in his youth.

He still rembered the first ti he heard of Prince Theseus of Athens’s adventurous tale, how he had sworn in his heart.

Soday, he would travel across the continent, leaving an immortal legend in the world.

Yet, in a daze, those youthful dreams had been ground into dust.

Now, his mories were mostly filled with death and bloodshed.

“O…dy…”

“…”

“Odysseus…”

“…”

“Odysseus!”

Clang——!

Awakened suddenly from sleep, the hero resting briefly under the tree drew his sword furiously.

Years of slaughter had stretched his nerves to the limit, even the slightest movent would trigger a most violent reaction.

From stillness to extre speed, it took rely a fleeting mont.

In the next instant, the sharp alchemy longsword halted before a figure with only one arm.

Whoosh——!

The wind rushed with the sound of the sword blade, blowing through the warrior’s hair.

Finally coming to his senses a bit, Odysseus saw the face of the person before him clearly.

“Mode…is it you?”

“It’s , I didn’t intend to disturb your rest.”

“But the situation is urgent, I had no choice but to co.”

The voice was sowhat hoarse; the once naive and youthful aristocrat who traveled the continent with the young Prince had long since lost his innocence.

Mode looked at the dear friend before him, the Monarch to whom he swore allegiance later.

It seed as though he gestured slightly with his right arm, as if saluting an honored guest.

However, Odysseus saw clearly, it was empty, with no trace of any limb.

“Not long ago, the North Wind God Boreas declared that he saw an opportunity, commanding us to lead the army and charge.”

“Even though I reasoned with him, telling him the so-called opportunity was rely a trap by the Athenians, he would not heed my words.”

“——And the result? How many perished?”

With a held breath, Odysseus interrupted directly.

Mode hesitated for a mont, but then he revealed the outco of this assault.

“Seven thousand in the vanguard, apart from a dozen knights and captives, none survived.”

“The enemy lost a few hundred, part of which were casualties at the comncent of the battle, the rest were the solitary results of Lord Boreas.”

“But this was temporary, not long after, when that Queen of Athens mysteriously appeared here from the Eastern Plains battlefield, the battle concluded.”

“In front of that fad Evil Sword, Lord Boreas could not hold out for long… Everyone said, that sword carried the power Theseus used to defeat deities and grew stronger in his successor’s hand.”

“After being pierced through the chest with a single stroke, the North Wind God turned into an invisible stream and fled the battlefield.”

“What ensued was an undeniable rout.”

Boom boom boom——!

His heart pounded violently; with Mode’s narration, Odysseus’s blood boiled.

He did not bla Mode for not waking him earlier, for both knew that even if he were awake, he couldn’t solve this problem.

Ever since the Divine King’s order spread among the Olympian Gods, the intensity of the Mortal Realm battlefield escalated several levels.

One deity after another descended upon the Mortal Realm, slaughtering wantonly—montarily, the alliance indeed maintained so advantage, but it was rely temporary.

Gradually, as ti passed, on the other side of the battlefield, those deities and powerful demigods not belonging to the alliance also joined the fray, rebalancing the situation.

Yet most deities on both sides knew, after that conflict atop Olympus Mountain Peak, the nature of the Mortal Realm conflict had already changed.

They could not decide the ultimate victory or defeat; it was a clash and contest between the Divine King and the Primordial Gods, destined to end only when the seal hovering over the Mount of the Gods was broken.

Thus, aside from a few deities intentionally seeking to impress, most Olympian Gods did not fight fervently.

They initiated conflict, showcased strength on the battlefield, causing so seemingly noteworthy destruction… then chose to retreat gracefully, leaving behind swathes of mortal casualties.

Among them, the North Wind God Boreas and the South Wind God Notus were the most typical examples.

Perhaps inspired by Zephyrus, Leader of Wind Gods, these two wind gods were particularly keen on charging through the mortal realm—but only charging and retreating.

They cared not about victory or defeat, nor about consequences.

As long as they diligently fulfilled Zeus’s command, even if it ant losing face to Humans.

Crunch…

Expressionless, Odysseus tightened his grip on the sword hilt.

After a while, accompanied by a ‘clang——,’ he sheathed the sword.

The place they were positioned was a hillock, offering a vantage point to gaze upon the entire nearby camp.

Yet, as Odysseus gazed afar, all he saw were numb faces.

Their clothes and armor were mottled, just like the two of them, stained with countless traces of blood.

“…I understand.”

“Anyway, the North Wind God suffered damage to his Divine Body, for at least a few months…”

Pausing slightly, as if recalling sothing, Odysseus continued:

“Even if he intends to ‘fight while wounded’ to express loyalty to the Divine King, it will take at least a month for him to return.”

“Before then, the Alliance from the rear countries will send reinforcents. They have plenty of troops.”
