Seeing her like this, Chu Tian couldn’t bear to let her down.
"Okay, let’s catch up to them!"
Although he agreed verbally, Chu Tian had his own calculations. He accelerated when he felt it was safe but prioritized steadiness in the more dangerous spots.
He wasn’t overly worried about himself. But if Xu Qingqiu were to get even slightly injured, that would be troubleso, especially since her concert was just a few days away. An injury now would be disastrous.
Even so, Chu Tian gradually caught up to the car in front, which was navigating a series of bends.
Xu Qingqiu grew even more excited. "AAAH! We’re almost there! Co on, co on!"
Pushing harder isn’t an option, Chu Tian thought. Even though the karts in the recreational area are speed-restricted, accelerating on the bends is still too dangerous.
However, using so techniques should be fine, he mused. In his previous life, he’d even specifically learned a few things for a variety show, though not a lot. But go-karts and cars have a lot in common, and his aptitude for this sort of thing isn’t bad; he usually gets the hang of it after one try.
He couldn’t pull off a gutter run, but a simple drift was still a piece of cake for him.
Besides, go-karts have protective fras, so a minor bump is no big deal.
So, he cut the inside line on two consecutive corners, quickly closing the distance. The two karts were about to touch.
The other driver clearly hadn’t expected them to catch up. Upon hearing the sound, they instinctively stepped on the gas.
Perfect opportunity! Chu Tian’s eyes lit up. He saw the other kart accelerate too much and swing wide on the next bend. He imdiately yanked the steering wheel and slamd the accelerator, cutting in from the inside.
First, the nose of his kart grazed the other’s tail as they entered the bend. Then, in an instant, his kart’s tail grazed the side of the other as he drifted out of the bend. The stylish drift left the other driver completely stunned.
"WOW! WOW! WOW! That was so cool! We overtook them!" Xu Qingqiu exclaid. "Chu Tian, you’re so amazing! Just like a race car driver! SWOOSH! You just shot right past them!"
Xu Qingqiu’s eyes seed to sparkle, her entire deanor transford. Her face was brimming with an excitent she couldn’t suppress.
After overtaking the other kart, Chu Tian sped up a bit. A straight stretch of road lay ahead, which was relatively safer.
When the kart they had passed caught up, Chu Tian gave a friendly wave. Any lingering annoyance the other driver might have felt dissipated.
He and Xu Qingqiu completed another two laps before erging from the go-karting venue, thoroughly exhilarated.
"Did you have fun?" Chu Tian asked.
"So much fun! It was incredibly thrilling! Who knew go-karting could be this exciting?" Xu Qingqiu replied.
"Of course. If you liked it, we can co play again next ti."
"Yes, yes! After my concert is over, I definitely want to co again! I never knew sothing this fun existed."
There are plenty more fun things than this, Chu Tian thought, a smile playing on his lips as he watched Xu Qingqiu’s excited face.
"Let’s go. On to the next thing!"
"Next thing? Where are we going? There’s more?"
"Of course, there is! Get in the car, I’ll take you."
With an eager Xu Qingqiu, Chu Tian drove them to the nearby Happy Valley amusent park.
Once inside, Xu Qingqiu was like soone entering the Grand View Garden for the first ti, her eyes wide with wonder, unable to take everything in at once.
Each holding an all-access pass, they joined the back of a line.
"I think this is my first ti at a place like this..." Xu Qingqiu murmured, clutching her pass, her gaze drifting upward to the Ferris wheel in the distance.
"You didn’t visit places like this when you were a kid?"
Chu Tian wasn’t particularly interested in these things himself, but he had encountered them occasionally during his school days. He wasn’t too clear about the details of such places, but he did recall a small scenic area near his hotown that had an amusent park. Classmates had dragged him there once in middle school, so the experience wasn’t entirely unfamiliar to him.
"No," Xu Qingqiu shook her head, a touch of wistfulness and longing on her face. "My family lived in a small county town. I don’t rember any amusent parks there at all; I only ever saw them on TV."
Chu Tian took her hand, cradling it in his. "It doesn’t matter," he said softly. "You’re seeing one now, aren’t you? If you like it, in a few years, we can build our own. Just for the two of us. We could play however we want, how about that?"
Xu Qingqiu rolled her eyes at him good-naturedly. "Are you silly? There are perfectly good ones already built; we can just buy a pass and play. Why would we build one ourselves? It’s not like we’re drowning in money with nowhere to spend it."
"AHEM... I just thought you’d like it..." Chu Tian hadn’t expected that what he thought was a romantic, tily promise between lovers would be t with such a cold splash of reality.
Seeing his slight embarrassnt, Xu Qingqiu chuckled softly. She reached out her other hand to gently caress his cheek and said tenderly, "Alright, I know what you an. But I’m not so clueless little girl. If we want to play again, we can just co back next ti, can’t we?"
"Then... would you be willing to co with again next ti?" Xu Qingqiu asked, a hopeful look in her eyes.
What was there to hesitate about? Chu Tian imdiately agreed.
"Of course," Chu Tian replied. "Whenever you want to co, I’ll always be here with you."
"HAHA! Let’s go, it’s our turn!" Xu Qingqiu cheered.
After that, they went on the pirate ship, the drop tower, and the roller coaster, among other rides. Finally, they stood at the very top of the Ferris wheel, taking a photo and sharing a kiss.
They didn’t leave until dusk, each holding a grilled sausage, eating as they strolled leisurely down the path.
Just as they reached an intersection, Xu Qingqiu suddenly stopped.
Chu Tian turned in surprise. Parked at the entrance of a shop by the roadside was a small, dazzlingly colorful toy car, and cheerful music drifted from it.
