While making my way towards the center of the city to help Vespera with the giant hydra, Fuego told that his brother was getting closer.

I was confused since the only brother I knew about was Frost, and he was all the way back in our camp creating ice knights. Then, I rembered what Arashi told and how there used to be a Rock Dragon.

Still, he was supposedly killed a long ti ago, and the aura I felt approaching had large amounts of demonic energy in it, so it didn’t feel like it was a dragon that was coming.

"Umm, are you sure that’s him?" I asked Fuego.

"What’s left of him..." he replied with a somber tone.

At that mont, Fuego split away from and flew towards his brother’s dark aura. As I got closer to the hydra, I saw Vespera flying around the beast to avoid its destructive breaths.

Hovering in the air above the battle, one of the hydra’s heads spotted and shot lightning out of its mouth, causing to boost myself with wind magic to quickly evade it.

Vespera tried attacking the lightning head while it was focused on , but the other four organizedly protected it.

["I don’t understand this monster. Is every head controlled by one being? Or does it have multiple brains?"] I asked Vespera with telepathy.

["I’m... not sure. Is that important?"] My companion replied as she flew backward to stray away from the hydra’s attacks montarily.

["Yes. One brain controlling multiple heads can be difficult. We could use that to our advantage..."] I continued.

The way the hydra moved its heads made believe that it only had one brain, as it would sotis move one head, and another would imitate its movents simultaneously.

I compared it to soone trying to move their pinky finger without moving any other. It was possible, but it required focus.

[’We need to overwhelm it, but with five heads against two of us, it’s easy for it to keep tracking us..."] I explained to Vespera.

["Yoru, what’s your status?"] I asked my other companion, who was returning from our camp after leaving the wounded Grul there.

["Dark wyvern near lina!"] The moonwolf responded, and I understood that he was busy.

"Alright then. It’s you and , Vesp!" I shouted, making Vespera smirk confidently as she dived down towards the hydra’s body, using her spider legs to stab it in the back.

The five heads turned back to look at my companion, who quickly jumped away before the five powerful breaths could get her.

’Interesting. The hydra is immune to its own breath... Although, I guess that kind of makes sense,’ I thought, watching the hydra bathe its body with poison, ice, fire, lightning, and shadow breaths.

Noticing that it wasn’t looking at , I relished the opportunity and targeted the black hydra’s head on its side, which was the one shooting out the shadow breath.

With my adamantite sword in hand, I fused the blade with light magic and sliced horizontally, creating a massive arc of light that flew straight at the hydra’s shadow head.

I ant to slice it off completely, but my spell was cut short mid-way as it couldn’t sever the whole neck, leaving a gaping wound with green blood oozing out of it.

In less than a second, all the other heads turned their attention to , and it was becoming clearer that the beast only had one brain, or it would have left one looking at my companion.

I flew frantically in every direction to avoid all the different projectiles the hydra shot at , allowing Vespera to appear right behind the shadow head and use her spider legs to deepen the wound I left, making the hydra screech loudly.

With more than half of its neck severed, the shadow head seed to lose its strength, closing its eyes and looking down as the green blood kept splashing all over the district.

"That’s one head down..." I muttered.

Suddenly, the lightning head next to it bit into the neck of the shadow head, right where our attacks landed and finished the job by ripping its head off.

"Huh!? Why is it doing that!?" I pondered aloud, looking at Vespera, who shared my surprise.

With one neck completely severed, I thought it would be much easier for us to finish the fight, but I was still confused as to why the hydra cut its own head off.

Right at that mont, from the living flesh that was still palpitating on the severed neck, a gush of green blood spurted out as two thinner, black necks ca out of the open wound.

’Oh no... I rember what mythology said about the hydra now,’ I thought.

In less than five seconds, the severed shadow head had been replaced by two shadow heads, and while their necks were much thinner than the previous one, it was apparent that if we cut them, more of them would grow.

"There’s six now..." I muttered, gritting my teeth with annoyance.

I had two different ideas on how to defeat the hydra, but both would be incredibly difficult for the two of us.

We were flying high up in the air since it was easier to avoid its attacks from afar while we ca up with a solution.

"Maybe it has a weak point we don’t know about. Like, where is the brain?" I comnted.

"I’m not sure. I can feel its heart right in the center of its body, but it’s as tough as a diamond," Vespera replied.

"What if we prevent it from producing more heads after severing them?" I wondered aloud.

"That could work... But how?" said my companion.

’Hmmm, how was it that ’Hercules’ beat the hydra...?’ I pondered.

When it regenerated, I noticed that the green flesh on its neck looked like it was palpitating before it produced the two heads, so I thought we could burn their necks to stop them from healing.

"Mhm, let’s try it out," said my companion, fully on board with my plan.
