Right after Nessa released her hidden demonic energy and turned into her demon form, the mages at the tower were frozen in fear in their seats.
The only ones who looked composed in the room were the sages sitting at the front, who seed to trust everything I said.
It was a good mont to get the mages familiar with the feeling of demonic energy. That way, they would be able to recognize it anywhere else.
After the demonstration, Nessa suppressed her energy and returned to her seat while we moved on to the next topic.
I showcased our "voice crystals" and our "teleport quartz" since I thought they could co in handy in case of ergencies.
"With these, we could have people teleport to different nations in an instant..." I said.
While so mages were paying attention, so of them were still shocked at Nessa’s power, but I couldn’t dwell on a single topic for too long.
"The reason I’m showcasing these here is because I think we might need them in the future..." I said, shooting a glance at Sage Astra.
"If there really is a big war coming, then we are going to need to be able to send our troops anywhere they are needed. We will also be looking for the secret weapon, just in case..." I continued.
Sage Astra raisd her hand. "The dwarven secret weapon? It has been dormant for over a thousand years..." she said.
"I know, but I just have a strange feeling that it could have so clues. I’m not saying we will use it, but it’s still worth checking it out..." I replied.
Of everyone in that room, only Sage Astra had been inside the dwarven nation and seen the weapon herself. Nobody else, not even the other sages, could cross their mountain pass.
Our eting lasted for a few hours, as we had to elaborate in-depth on everything we knew about the devils and their powers.
I didn’t know much about the other devils other than Drakzen, whom I knew so of his abilities, but I could also tell that he had plenty of other tricks under his sleeve.
"Drakzen wants to build an army of monsters and Accursed Beasts, so that’s sothing to keep in mind..." I said.
Once the eting was over, the mages returned to their work while the sages ca to talk to my group.
We went to Astra’s office to keep discussing the matter and start developing contingency plans.
lina and I were going to keep hunting the devils as we had been doing. anwhile, the other sages would travel to the other nations to place the magic quartz and create a teleportation network between countries.
So mages were being deployed to the different forests and fields of the world to hunt down demonic monsters or look for Accursed Beasts.
One of Drakzen’s abilities was being able to control and evolve monsters at a much faster rate than Armaros, so his monsters were on another level.
However, if we managed to find them and hunt them down before they could beco as strong as Salamandra, our work would be much easier.
After we all delegated our tasks, we began our preparations.
__________
The following day after the Sage’s Assembly, our group was fully ready to travel to Durinhold, which was to the southwest of our location.
The trip was supposed to be three days by carriage, but it ended up coming down to one day since we were going to be flying.
Durinhold was a nation that supposedly had underground cities, and the capital was on a plateau surrounded by tall white marble mountains.
The only way to enter the nation was to show any form of permit that the dwarves recognized, and I had the coin that Dhorc had given .
There was the option of flying above the mountains and entering the capital city from above, but that would have made us an enemy of the dwarves. Of course, there was no need for us to do that anyway since we had clearance.
On our way there, we reached the town of Lakewake in half a day and decided to rest there. We wanted to get to Durinhold during the day and not late at night, so it seed like the best spot to relax.
"That went much better than I expected..." lina said as we both entered our room.
"Right? It was all thanks to Sage Astra, though. If she hadn’t scheduled those lectures for us, I’m sure we would have gotten more push-back from the mages." I said.
"I was worried that soone would try sothing stupid after seeing Nessa’s demonic energy..." she said, flopping on the bed with her head against the pillow.
"I’m glad everything went fine..." she continued, her voice muffled by the cushion.
During our stay at Lakewake, we used our voice crystals to send ssages to the people at Sephyr to see how they were doing.
I had left the knights of the 7th order to finish the road in the Illusive Woods, and when I asked about their progress, they told that it had been completed two days prior.
Now, there was a road that safely connected the Droman Empire and the Sephyr Kingdom, and they said that rchants would start using it in a few days.
I also sent a ssage to the alchemists, but not because I needed anything in particular from them, but just to see how they were doing.
By this point in ti, Reinar and his group had been living in the tree house at End Forest longer than I ever had, which I thought was kind of funny.
Nonetheless, the alchemists gave us news that shocked both and lina—Reinar and Jen had gotten engaged.
Honestly, I acted like I was shocked, but I kind of expected it to happen every ti I saw them together.
They were pretty much perfect for each other, as they were both obsessed with alchemy. Still, Reinar was a pretty shy person, so I kept wondering how he managed it.
’Either way, I’m proud of them...’ I thought.
