Chapter 371: Chapter 364: She Stole Soone Else’s Achievent

Upon hearing the news, the administrators of the hospital quickly gathered – the dean, vice dean, heads of various departnts, and even Dean Tao ca. All of them had seen the test report. According to every test result, the patient had indeed contracted dengue fever. Luckily, he was still in the incubation period and had not yet reached the infectious stage. Furthermore, since he was initially treated as a SARS patient, he was moved through isolation channels, avoiding contact with others. Imdiately, family mbers who had had contact with him were also placed under isolation.

Feeling relieved, the dean let out a sigh while the vice dean wiped the sweat from his forehead.

For safety precautions, all objects within the patient’s ward were thoroughly disinfected, even doctors who had co into contact with the patient were placed under isolation check.

Tang Yuxin also sighed in relief, but she was confused. She didn’t rember anything like this happening in her previous life. If two infectious diseases broke out at the sa ti, it wouldn’t be possible to keep it quiet.

Just as she was preparing for isolation, a foreign-trained doctor rushed in.

“Run a hematological analysis for that patient. I’ve investigated, this patient just returned from Africa, it may not be SARS but dengue fever.”

Tang Yuxin imdiately lowered her head, feeling as if she had taken soone else’s credit. In her mind, even without her involvent, the dengue fever outbreak would not have escalated, all thanks to this foreign-trained doctor.

“It’s already been confird,” Dean Liu reached out and patted Tang Yuxin’s shoulder, “Xiaotang, you will certainly be a pillar of the dical community in the future.”

“Don’t pat her too hard,” Dean Tao quickly moved to shield Tang Yuxin. “She’s already short, if you pat her one more ti and she doesn’t grow taller, what then?”

Tang Yuxin lowered her head even more. She wasn’t short. Really, she was already 160 cm tall. To be precise, she was 160.5 cm; rounded up to 161 cm, she was a perfectly standard height. She was glad she hadn’t stunted her growth.

As for the foreign-trained doctor, to tell the truth, Tang Yuxin felt a bit guilty and dared not look at him directly.

If it weren’t for her unexpectedly stealing the rit, there would certainly be room for him in the Beijing dical community. Now, the credit had been taken by her and at most it would be added to her file. But for the foreign-trained doctor, that was a significant accomplishnt.

She could only sigh, it was fate.

In the following days, she was put under isolation, having her temperature asured three tis a day. Once her temperature stabilized, she was “released”. Of course, the entire hospital remained busy and tense.

Every day, there were people falling ill and passing away in the world, and such events were commonplace in the hospital.

As Tang Yuxin was coming out of the ward, she sighted a woman carrying a child, pacing back and forth.

“What’s wrong?” She approached and noticed that the child’s face was flushed red. She thought of Chengcheng; if Chengcheng’s little face was burning like this, she would be utterly distressed.

“Doctor, my daughter has a fever, she won’t eat, there are too many people in line, I can’t get through…” the woman began to weep.

“Let take a look first,” Tang Yuxin helped the woman to sit down and then took out her stethoscope to examine the little girl’s heart and lungs.

“It’s alright, just catch a cold. Please queue again later.”

The middle-aged woman finally sighed in relief and sat quietly with the child, waiting for the child’s father to return with the number.

Just as Tang Yuxin stood up, a person was brought in through the entrance. She quickly approached.

“What’s wrong?” She asked.

“Fever patient.”

Now, all fever patients in the hospital had to receive isolated treatnt, while common patients were kept for observation.

Tang Yuxin observed the patient’s complexion and his occasional cough and could almost confirm that this was a SARS patient. But, the official result would not be known until after the diagnosis was confird.

“You all be careful,” Her tone was casual, but it caused discomfort and tension in others. They could all understand what she was implying – there was a high chance that this patient was a SARS patient.

Just as Tang Yuxin was about to walk away, she bumped into soone.

“Sorry…” she quickly apologized.

“No problem,” said the man, holding a registration form. He shook his head as if trying to clear it.

“Wait a minute,” Tang Yuxin ca over, grabbed the man’s wrist, and then placed her hand on his forehead.

Seeing this, the woman sitting not far away hurriedly brought her child over.

“Did you get the number, honey?”

As she was about to take the registration form, Tang Yuxin reached out to stop her.

“Stay away from him,” Tang Yuxin blocked the woman and her daughter, then called to soone, “Take him for an examination.”

Her expression grew slightly somber. Nowadays, more than a dozen cases could be confird every day. It seed that the peak was soon to arrive.

“Doctor, my husband…”

Cradling her child, the woman watched her husband being led away and suddenly beca scared. It couldn’t be SARS, could it? If he really had contracted it, what would they do? What would their family do?

“You’ll know after the examination is completed, it’s the sa for all of you.” Tang Yuxin ordered that the man be taken for examination. At first, the man was uncooperative and insisted he wasn’t sick, but after just a few steps, he fainted. If it hadn’t been for the support of two others, he would have fallen flat on his face.

That day, nearly thirty cases were confird. The number had been the sa over the past few days. Out of patience, Tang Yuxin considered it a good day if she could manage a al. She was losing weight rapidly.

“Doctor Tang, there’s a patient,” the nurse called once again.

“Okay, I’ll be right there,” Tang Yuxin stood up, closed the lunch box she hadn’t finished eating, and decided not to eat any more.

She left, ready to see the next patient.

At night, she wore protective clothing, moving from one ward to another, examining each isolated patient, checking their vital signs and making notes one by one.

And, of course, there was no sleep. It felt like the hospital no longer saw her as a student. In truth, she wanted to say that she was just a student, only 20 years old and still not graduated. She really couldn’t shoulder such a large responsibility.

But, regardless of how she scread and shouted inside, she eventually had to follow the others, treating herself as a superwoman who didn’t need to eat or sleep.
