My Whole Class Isekai'd to a Xianxia? Good Thing I Can Do Mind-reading Chapter 299: What’s He So Afraid Of?
The leader of the five-man group walked awkwardly toward Feng Fan. With every step, his knees buckled slightly, drawing Feng Fan's attention. It didn't take a genius to guess why: his groin must still be screaming in pain.
Despite being the strongest among them, his injury was the most painful, which made him the last to close the distance.
By the ti he was halfway to Feng Fan, the other two had already reached striking range. Their swords sliced diagonally through the air, aiming straight at Feng Fan's back.
Without turning fully, Feng Fan tossed the Suppression Relic behind him. As his spiritual qi surged into it, the relic expanded instantly, forming a barrier between him and the attackers.
Instead of cutting into flesh, their blades clanged against Little Brick. Worse still, the relic reflected the force of their own strikes, sending a powerful backlash through their arms. The shock made them stagger as spiritual qi surged violently in reverse through their ridians. Gritting their teeth, they quickly activated their cultivation techniques to stabilize the chaos within their bodies.
But it was already too late.
The Suppression Relic shrank. Feng Fan snatched it mid-air and lunged toward the man on his front-right side. One swing was all it took. His target's head burst like a lon, splattering the floor.
The other assailant, barely a ter away, froze in horror. His eyes widened because of panic. As Feng Fan took a step toward him, he stumbled backward, retreating in a rush toward his group's leader, who had stopped after witnessing their failed ambush.
"Little guy, you were in such a rush to kill . Why the sudden retreat?" Feng Fan mocked, a smirk adorning his face. Despite the man's hesitation, Feng Fan continued advancing, step by step, closing the distance between them.
"Don't let him get in your head! Attack together!" barked the leader, now standing beside his last living subordinate.
Feng Fan chuckled. 'If I truly wanted to get in your head, would you even be able to stop ?'
The subordinate swallowed hard and readied his stance, eyes fixed on Feng Fan, who was now just outside striking range.
When there were less than two ters left between them, Feng Fan suddenly shifted his gaze to the leader. "Want another kick?"
The words alone made the leader flinch, hesitation and raw fear flashing across his face. Feng Fan nearly laughed aloud. 'He doesn't even have balls anymore… what's he so afraid of?'
But that flicker of hesitation was all Feng Fan wanted.
Instead of targeting the leader, his leg shot toward the subordinate. The man, acting on instinct, slashed down in a desperate attempt to protect what mattered most.
Steel t flesh, but not with the result he expected.
The subordinate's sword snapped in half on impact, powerless against Feng Fan's leg. A split second later, the kick landed true, crushing his groin in a burst of spiritual qi and agony. A strangled scream escaped him as the sword's hilt clattered to the floor.
Not content with letting the man off with what Feng Fan considered a minor injury, he followed up instantly. While the victim was still distracted, Feng Fan's fist shot forward like lightning. The punch crashed into his face with devastating force, exploding his head.
Blood sprayed. Brain matter splattered. And the corpse crumpled.
Feng Fan looked down at the blood staining his robes and sighed. "Great. More laundry."
The last man standing in the room, besides Feng Fan, trembled with rage. Rage at Feng Fan, and perhaps even more at himself for hesitating and showing fear.
"You monster!" he roared, attacking with a wild swing of his sword, a strike even he knew wouldn't land true.
Feng Fan didn't even spare him a glance. Instead, he walked calmly toward the cabinet where the projection orbs were stored. For a fleeting second, the leader believed his attack would succeed. His eyes lit up with a mix of excitent and hope.
Then a black blur crashed into his face.
Blood sprayed from his mouth as the force of the Suppression Relic hurled him backward. But before he could even hit the ground, Little Brick smashed into his skull again.
And again.
And again.
And again.
When it finally stopped, only a headless corpse remained.
With his back to the now-dead leader, Feng Fan opened the drawer and found the projection orbs still intact. He let out a quiet sigh of relief before retreating to a corner and activating the illusion array once more.
Truth be told, even if the orbs had been destroyed and Qin Cai couldn't be held accountable for his cris, Feng Fan would've simply killed him and left. But that would've made his mission a lot harder.
He still had a eting to attend with Inspector Lu Bao, and Feng Fan had no doubt the man held the answers he needed.
Or at the very least, had access to them.
Since he could ensure Qin Cai's death and win the bet, what was the rush?
While Feng Fan cultivated quietly in the corner, the Suppression Relic returned to his space ring on its own. At so point, a woman entered the evidence room and let out a piercing scream upon seeing the mangled corpses. Her cries quickly attracted attention.
The result? Grand Inspector Lu himself stord into the room, shouting furiously and ordering an imdiate increase in security. From that mont on, two of his most trusted subordinates stood guard inside the room at all tis, ensuring no further intrusions would occur.
Though Grand Inspector Lu had a reputation for fairness, he wasn't a fool. It was obvious the five intruders had co to destroy sothing; he had a strong suspicion that the "sothing" was the projection orbs.
Using his connections and investigative skills, he quickly uncovered who had granted access to the room. Unfortunately, that man had already been killed. Whoever the projection orbs threatened to expose clearly wasn't soone who could be touched easily.
The only question he couldn't answer was: who had killed those n?
As for Feng Fan, he remained still, cultivating in silence throughout the next three days while investigators and guards ca and went, unaware of the hidden guest watching from the shadows.
