There were a lot of things that surprised Daphne today. The beasts that had co forward, the death of her own mbers, and the mysterious group that had saved them. She had walked into this situation expecting resistance, but not this scale, not sothing that had pushed even her own trained people to the brink so quickly.
But now, the very creatures that were after their lives, to have been captured by this mysterious group was quite the sight to see. The Werewolf was restrained, its limbs damaged, muscle tendons cut cleanly in areas that showed precision rather than random brutality, and even now it was still trying to wriggle about as if its body refused to accept defeat.
And as to why they had captured it, it was all because they wanted Daphne.
‘I thought that it might have been a coincidence that they ca to save , but that’s stupid.’ Daphne thought. ‘A group this strong that is unknown to , ans they have even more information than one of the top Kings in the world.’
That thought alone unsettled her. The Bree family maintained networks, information channels, and influence across territories, and yet these people had moved inside her city without her knowing, fought with coordinated strength, and now stood here speaking as if they understood her ability in detail.
‘So of course they knew about , and it looks like they want to use my powers.’
Daphne took a second look at the creature they had brought in. It had been severely wounded on its limbs, the muscle tendons cut in multiple places to prevent sudden bursts of movent, but even now it was still trying to wriggle about. The n in black were gripping it firmly, adjusting their hold every ti it tried to twist.
Having seen the n in black’s strength in the fight, they were strong enough to hold it in place at least. They weren’t careless either, their positioning showed training, one near the shoulders, another controlling the torso, and others prepared to strike if needed.
“How do you know about my power?” Daphne asked.
Jin gave a smile towards Daphne.
“Do you really think that’s important right now?” Jin replied. “You see these creatures, they’re not just attacking your city. They’re appearing all over the country.
“Although we are strong, we aren’t infinite in number, even fighting against them now we have lost so of our lives, so we’re trying to find an answer to all of this, and a way to stop them.
“We know you have the ability to control Altered and animals to a degree… although this isn’t exactly the sa, since your powers transcend even to animals, it might do the sa to this guy.
“Try to get through to him, think of this as a favour for saving your lives.”
Daphne had to admit she had to be thankful there, because for sure she and Yin would have died if they didn’t co. She had seen how quickly her own mbers had been overwheld, and if the black-haired man hadn’t stepped in when he did, she wouldn’t be standing here.
But part of Daphne was worried, after these guys got what they wanted, what would they do to her?
And if she did give them what they wanted, it would an they would want her to do more things.
She was used to how organisations and people of the world worked, and she was in a damned if she did, and damned if she didn’t type of situation right now. Refusing would an conflict with a group she didn’t understand. Agreeing would tie her to them in ways she couldn’t predict.
‘What I do know is these creatures are dangerous, and if they’re going to try to take them out, then maybe this situation is an enemy of my enemy is my friend.’
At least for now.
“I’ll see what I can do.” Daphne said as she reached down, because she wasn’t exactly sure what she could do.
Her powers could enhance a form, and she rembered touching Gary and bringing out his true power. She had influenced the transformation before, guiding it, strengthening it. If the current person in front of her was in a crazed Altered state, then maybe she could reverse it or at least suppress it.
She then went from behind the beast rather than the front in case it snapped its mouth trying to bite her. Even restrained, she wasn’t foolish enough to underestimate it.
When she held onto the creature, she started to do her magic, and she could instantly tell things were different.
There was a strain feeling on her body, sothing was fighting against her for control. It wasn’t like influencing a normal Altered, where her power flowed naturally and was accepted. This felt like pushing against another will that refused to yield.
‘This hasn’t happened before, I didn’t even know this was possible…’ Daphne thought.
If it was one of the others, those that were still training to use the power, they would have been overwheld, but there was a reason why she was the current head of the Bree family.
She forced her powers flowing into the Were man, pushing deeper despite the resistance.
‘I might not be able to control him, like I can the others, and I don’t think what I do will stay, sothing is constantly fighting back.’ Daphne thought.
Whatever was inside him wasn’t simply instinct or rage, it was structured, as if sothing else had been layered over the transformation.
That’s when changes could be seen physically on the Werewolf. The fur was receding, and so of the wounds were starting to disappear reshaping into skin.
The Werewolf was being turned back into its human form.
“It looks like the information we got was quite accurate.” Jin said.
Daphne could feel that this wasn’t a permanent solution. The resistance hadn’t vanished, it had only weakened enough for her to suppress it temporarily.
Eventually the Werewolf had receded turning back into its human form, although not all of its wounds were healed since it was quite badly damaged, just that of what its form had placed on him.
“Can you speak?” Jin asked.
“ARGghh, arghh!” The man said groaning in pain.
“We have so questions we need answering from you. What Pack are you from? What even are you?” Jin asked.
