159 The Tears of A Mother (2)
(Tom’s PoV)
I was still watching her, ignoring the couple who was still hugging each other the bed nearby, when she turned her head towards sharply. Her red eyes bulged out as she glared at . Her face was still wet from her tears, but it only made her appearance even more ghastly. Her lips stiffened and growl was heard from her throat. The dark mist around her thickened, creating an even more eerie atmosphere.
There was no doubt the two nearby were affected, especially Nita who was obviously not in a good condition. Her ntal was still shaky, a perfect condition for a human to get possessed. But no, she was not possessed entirely since she beca linked to the ghost because of the dark mist.
I was startled seeing the ghost was standing upright with her chin up as she looked down on . The sa happened to Nita who got out from Rama’s embrace and stood on the bed. She got the sa posture as the ghost as she glared at her husband.
“Nita? Baby? What’s wrong with you?” Rama asked carefully, a bit surprised with his wife’s behavior. He was probably feeling a bit scared, too. I an, who wouldn’t be scared when soone was glaring at you with all her heart?
I went back to my body and got into the room. “You had better gone out now.” I advised him without breaking eye contact with the ghost.
“But...” Rama was about to protest, but I didn’t let him.
“Just go! Get so help! Don’t let her approach the living room!” I shouted at him. “Trust .”
Rama grunted in distress but he obeyed what I said. Actually, it was just an excuse. I didn’t want him to see fighting with invisible force. Of course, I wouldn’t fight Nita. I had my chain to restrain her movent and another chain to seal the room so that the ghost couldn’t escape, but the main issue was the ghost herself.
.....
How do I deal with her when I don’t possess my chain?
“Be careful with her, human. She is dangerous. I sll sothing rotten from her. Big chance that she sold her soul to the devil to acquire this disgusting ability.” Putra’s voice travelled to my ears. Even his way of talking which was usually mischievous and overbearing sounded serious.
This ghost was a real deal. She was even more terrifying with those in the air plane. I wonder why, though.
“I know.” I said between my gritted teeth.
My body went full alert, every movent of the ghost made flinched. The pressure was strong, but I could stand it. I guessed I could say it was all thanks to the first trial. My shield was getting stronger after my encounter with Putra Sesta, but sohow I felt that I was still lacking in so ways.
I knew how to fight the ghost, after all I managed to capture all the shadows in the airplane before. Compare to this ghost in front of , there was a huge difference of number. How could I take care of more than a dozen shadows but feel helpless against one ghost?
Of course, the difference was I could freely capture those shadows before since I was in my spirit form, but here I needed to make sure that Nita would be left unhard. I could use my chain to restrain her and the other chain to seal the place so that nothing could co and join in the fight.
But, how could I fight her without my chain?
I knew how to fight them without weapons, but to do that, I needed to be in my spirit form to better use my spiritual power. But, to be in my spirit form, I needed to make sure it was safe for . What if Rama ca back and saw unmoving? He might think sothing had happened to and making them even more panic was the last thing I wanted to do. Not to ntion all the troubleso explanation I needed to give to them.
On the other hand, fighting with my physical form was not entirely useless. If only I could use my spiritual power better, including fusing it with my physical form, I didn’t have to worry about anything. To be frank, I was bad at it.
Was there any easy way to master it?
Without my chains to back up and without the ability to use my spiritual power freely, what else could I do? But, it didn’t an I could only sit back and do nothing.
Why didn’t I use the chain to capture her instead of sealing the room? I would say, nice idea, but no. I needed to know why this woman haunted Nita and Rama. For that, I needed to lower her guard or defeat her. After that, I could enter her mind or coax her to let see her past.
On the other hand, her dark skill she obtained from selling her soul to devil was pretty powerful. If I didn’t seal the room, our fight would attract other ghosts here and it would create a worse situation. Therefore, I opted for sealing the room and dealing with one ghost instead of directly using the chain to eradicate more of them.
Well, I knew the basic of fighting ghosts since I had done it so much when I was still in comma, let’s just do it and pray that I could sohow do it well with my physical body. It didn’t have to be perfect, it only needed to be useful. What else? I needed a good strategy, but what strategy could be used in this sudden situation?
“Hey, you killed her son, but why are you crying?” I asked, tried to distract her attention.
She sneered. “An innocent baby was hard, what kind of creature am I not to cry over this?”
I was stunned. Did she really just say that? “You’re the one who hard him! Don’t you think it’s a bit conceited for you to cry for him?”
“SHUT UP!” She roared, gale of wind created a havoc in the bedroom. Whenever she talked, Nita would start talking as well. It was as if they were one being. But, because she was restrained by my chain, she couldn’t move.
I couldn’t say the sa towards the ghost, though.
With a sharp scream she pounced on . Her claws were extended towards my neck and her eyes glowed red. I put on my shield as I tried to focus my spiritual power on my hands. As her claws bounced back from my shield, I reached out and tried to grab her arm.
Unfortunately my hand went through her as if she was just a smoke. There went my first attempt. It seed like I needed to put more spiritual power into it. But, it went through again on my second attempt.
Scorn appeared on her already sinister face as she realized I couldn’t touch her. Damn, she was mocking ! The most infuriating thing was I couldn’t say anything since I really couldn’t touch her. How much spiritual power did I need to put into my hands so that I could grab her?
“No human can prevent to kill this woman if I want to. Not even you! Foolish human! Only with that tiny bit of power you think you can subdue ? Not even in your dream!” She scread elatedly. Her face showed sinister expression but she sounded happy when she reprimanded , I must say she was definitely crazy even when she was a human before.
Her attack grew faster and more frequent. If I had not had my shield with , I would have been torn into pieces by her claws. Not to ntion the dark mist emitted from her fingers looked suspicious.
“Tell , is there a reason for you to kill her?” I tried to talk to her again, to slow down her movent.
“Reason? Hah, of course!” She sneered as her dark mist started to envelop my body.
Well, not good. I watched my surroundings as it started to turn dark. I had never heard about a ghost with this ability, not even shadows. What kind of ability did she get in replace of her soul?
“Young man, if only you didn’t interfere, I would have spared your life. But now, you can only beco the part of my power. You’re running out of your spiritual power, right? Your shield won’t be able to hold up for long.” She said.
She was right, but I didn’t want to say it out loud. The lights in the room flickered and died. I was lucky since it was still bright outside, but still her dark mist covered almost all of the room.
If this went on, I was sure I would only be her part of power. I didn’t want that, of course. But, I didn’t think I could summon any more spiritual power. Even my shield started to run out of juice after accepting her attack one after another. It was proof that she was strong.
Maybe I should take a gamble. Since my shield was ford from my spiritual power, too, I might be able to grab her if I used all the spiritual power in my shield towards my hands. But, the risk was too great. What if she decided to attack ? Without my shield, I was sure I wouldn’t escape unscathed.
But, sotis we needed to sacrifice sothing in order to gain for the best result. As long as I could dodge her attack and minimize the impact of her attack, I wouldn’t die. I might get so scratches but I wouldn’t die. This was my only chance, I needed to grab her and entered her mind.
I had made up my mind. This ti, I didn’t use my shield. Instead, the power I usually used for my shield was transfered to my hands. I could feel the difference and after making sure that it was the best I could do, I started to make my way towards the woman. I was still surrounded by her dark mist and it almost made unable to see even my own hands, but I could still feel where the sinister aura was the thickest. I could still see her glowing eyes. I knew where my target was.
Without wasting my ti, I charged forward. As I got closer to her, I could feel prickling sensation as if I was being pierced by super thin needles all over my body. At first it felt itchy, but then the needles turned bigger as if wanting to make holes in my body. It was painful, and it grew even more as I got closer and closer to her.
But, this was my only chance!
