126 Death Volcano (2)
(Tom’s PoV)
Up there, still a bit hidden within the darkness, I vaguely caught a non-human creature floating in the air. It was red with a pair of horn on its forehead. It looked like Hell Boy, with smaller features and more sinister expressions. Its eyes were big like a big marble with a hint of mischievousness. No tail as far as I saw, but it was wearing a black top, looking like an ancient tattered costu. It was also wearing black pants and a piece of Batik cloth wrapped around its hips. I was not sure what kind of creature it was but I was sure it was a male.
Perhaps, it was a human before?
But, the strange thing was even though his clothes were tattered and looking like a rag, the Batik cloth around his hips was still intact, instead it was kind of glowing.
I was sure the cloth was not sothing ordinary.
He must have not noticed yet. His eyes peered into the big lava hole while his fingers caressed his chin, looking deep in thought.
“I think this volcano sounds weird. I have never heard it like this before.” He said.
“...” The owner of thunderous voice didn’t say anything but I could feel the air shifted slightly, a sign that sothing was coming.
I was about to see the owner of the other voice when the creature under my feet shifted and wailed even louder.
.....
“Stupid human, let eat you! Stupid human, don’t hide, let drink your blood!” There was anger in its voice, but I didn’t feel scared at all.
Instead, I could feel the irritation stinging my brain.
How dare it called stupid!
“Who are you calling ‘stupid’, you bloodsucker maniac?!” I gritted my teeth as I stomped my feet as hard as I could. Loud crack was heard and the ground under my feet sunk under my feet.
Thankfully I was fast enough to swing the chain around my hand again and nailed it on the higher ground.
Thanks to that loud commotion, those two unknown visitors finally noticed my presence. Their heads turned towards in a flash, looking so creepy with those big and red-rimd eyes.
“He is alive?” The childlike voice owner asked in disbelief.
“Seems like he is not any ordinary human.”
I couldn’t catch what they said after that because my ears were full of the gigantic creature’s wailing. Was it just or these two couldn’t see this overly gigantic and weird creature in a shape of volcano? They looked so calm while I was nearly mad from the sound.
After planting my feet on the higher ground, I looked at those two visitors who were still eyeing with their big bulging eyes. I didn’t know whether they were sneering or not, surprised or not -it was hard to decide that since their features were not really human-like, but at the sa ti they looked almost human to -but I knew that they found oddly interesting.
Little did they know, I found them strangely interesting as well.
I wish I could have more ti to observe them, but the wailing really got into my nerves.
“If you won’t shut up, I’ll break every inch of your body.” I growled, threatening it. As I said so, I rembered when I broke the ground with my stomp.
Did I really that powerful?
Or was it this creature that was so weak?
Listening to my threat, the creature went wild. The whole mountain shook violently as lava shot out from every holes. Even the visitors flew back several ters to avoid the burst of lava. A long and loud roar was heard and I frowned as I heard it growl in anger.
“Tiny, little, puny human dares to threaten ?! I have existed for hundreds of year but no one belittled like this! This is pure humiliation! This is humiliation!”
“I am the Death Volcano! I am the mother of all volcanoes! I control...”
Why did it start rambling about itself? Who would want to know about your origin? So what if you’re Death Volcano? So what if you’re the mother of all volcanoes? So what if you are the one that controls all active volcanoes in Indonesia? What can I do about it?
“SHUT UP!” I shouted, successfully made the Death Volcano shut its mouth. “Look! I don’t care who you are and what you’re doing, but if you are eyeing for my life, you should know that I can do the sa to you.”
“Stop making noises and throwing your temper. I’m not soone with a good temper either, so don’t even try to test my patience! Keep your mouth shut and go to sleep! No one needs your lava!”
I might sound ridiculous at this ti, but I couldn’t care less about it.
This creature needed to know that I was not soone it was easy to bully.
After shouting for that long, I took a deep breath to stabilize my breath. My surroundings turned dark as the big hole spurting lava started to close, forming a thin line of lava and two smaller holes had closed up.
Now that everything went serene with only the sound of my breath and the magma crackling under the ground, I could finally think about it wholly.
So, the death volcano they were talking about was so kind of gigantic creature? But, judging from how those two reacted, they did see the volcano as volcano, not as a big creature that possessed lava ability in it.
So, where was the wrong in it? Was it with or with them?
Anyway, now that the death volcano had been quite down, I could finally look at the two visitors of mine.
“I see, he is not an ordinary human.” The childish voice started.
“He ordered the death volcano to shut up? I almost thought he was so crazy human. But, he did it. The death volcano stopped erupting.” The other one said.
“Do you think he can command the volcano? It’s been years since the last ti I saw soone commanding it.”
Can I? These two realized that I could hear them, right? But, what they said really picked my curiosity.
Tapping my right foot on the ground lightly, I called the volcano lightly. “Hey, wake up.”
The ground shook a bit and its eyes opened up wide.
Honestly, I was stunned when I felt it moving. Did I really do it?
