Chapter 225: Unrelenting

Chapter 223

AWHOOOOO!

A black puff of smoke imdiately enveloped Ray’s area, obscuring the battlefield.

BAM—! BOOOM—!

The ground was reduced to rubble as the mace descended with full destructive force, turning the stone into a wide and deep crater that yawned five ters across.

A thick blanket of dust rose up, forcing Felix and Caster to freeze their charge.

"Brother!" Felix shouted in panic into the swirling dust.

Fear gripped him as he questioned whether the Tribrid had survived or not.

He didn’t want to admit it—nobody did—but with the speed the mace had been descending, the Aspirant might not have made it out in ti.

Then, a low growl resonated from the side, about six ters away from where the beast had smashed its weapon into the earth.

Everybody’s eyes widened as they caught sight of a wolf as large as a car.

Matte black fur clung to its powerful fra.

Fangs jutted from its mouth with saliva dripping maliciously, and its claws looked sharp enough to pierce any flesh and tear it apart.

Its eyes glead with a crimson light that seed to lock onto the surroundings with predatory intent.

It was a beast!

And not just that, the creature had Ray gently held in its fangs by his shirt collar.

"Wait! Another beast?! It’s got Ray!" Van shouted in panic, lifting his cannon hand and preparing to blast the newcor into oblivion.

"Phew," Caster breathed, a visible sigh of relief escaping him.

The wolf walked toward the group with hurried steps and, in a flash, stood before Caster.

A whirring sound echoed as Van began activating his cannon, but he paused when he saw the wolf lower its head before Caster, setting Ray down gently in front of the Aspirant.

"Huh?"

Everybody mouthed in confusion at the scene.

The Aspirant, uncaring of the stares, began stroking the beast’s head calmly while whispering, "Good job."

That was when it finally clicked in Kai’s head.

’Shoot! Of course. He’s part of them too. How did I not realize it in ti? Actually... I couldn’t have. Their trademark is their summons, and if I hadn’t seen it, I wouldn’t have suspected. This is crazy. What is going on with this group?’

Trish showed no emotion whatsoever.

While the others were practically gawking at the wolf, she remained focused on the Minotaur, who, for so reason, seed intrigued by the wolf as well.

Ray rose with a stunned expression.

He hadn’t expected a beast to save him, and to top it off, the creature was relatively calm.

[Inspect]

[Na: Dark Wolf]

[Rank: Advanced]

[Ability: Super Speed]

’An Advanced rank beast? Wait... how did Caster get one to be so calm with him? Is it an ability of so sort?’ Ray mused inwardly as he watched Caster continue to stroke the creature.

Then—

Crackle—! Bang—!

The Minotaur moved with deadly velocity toward the gathered group.

Lifting his head, Caster frowned.

"Wolf. Go!" he shouted.

’Hey, wait. What can an Advanced rank beast do against a King rank?!’ Ray shouted inwardly, unable to even voice his complaint.

He didn’t have ti to speak because of how fast the wolf was moving.

Within a heartbeat, it leaped into the air directly above the King rank beast, which paused for a mont to look up.

"AWHOOOOO!"

The wolf howled loudly, causing a powerful shockwave to smash into the face of the Minotaur.

The ground cracked massively as the Minotaur was sent sliding backward, genuine shock written all over its face.

However, lightning continued to arc around the monster’s body with deadly intent.

Lifting its hand toward the wolf, a bolt of lightning burst out, speeding toward the creature.

Before the strike could land, the wolf was already gone, avoiding the attack by a wide margin and allowing the bolt to crash uselessly into the ground.

BOOOOOM!

A ball of energy from Van smashed into the beast’s back, causing it to skid away in pain.

Cold. It was suddenly very cold.

Spinning around, the Minotaur found Trish standing directly in front of it with a pair of ice daggers gripped firmly in her hands. Promptly, the girl moved.

From that mont on, her movents beca little more than a blur to the beast’s eyes.

Trish was unrelenting, her daggers slashing and lashing from multiple angles in the span of no more than two seconds.

She was fluid and imnsely competent.

Dodging the beast’s wild, desperate swings of its mace by the sheer skin of her teeth, she kept pressing the advantage.

She pushed the monster backward with a series of precise thrusts from her daggers.

She said nothing. Not a peep. Not a single word escaped her lips.

Her gaze remained firm and calculated.

The way she danced around the hulking beast was so fluid that it seed like a choreographed performance; even though she was technically slower than the Minotaur, she compensated for the gap with her graceful skill and mastery.

Pushing herself to the absolute limit, she deflected a heavy blow with her now-cracked dagger.

The force of the impact rattled her bones, and she could feel them straining under the pressure, almost reaching their breaking point.

Then, kicking the ground with precision, her sword—which had fallen from Ray’s hand earlier—flipped into the air.

Chloe’s eyes widened in realization.

’Genius! She was intentionally pushing it backward just so she could retrieve her primary weapon?!’

A glint of cold steel flashed before the beast’s eyes.

Trish grabbed the weapon by the hilt and hauled it from below in a vicious upward strike aid toward the Minotaur’s temple.

A twitch.

Trish caught sight of the movent, but unfortunately, she couldn’t do anything to stop it.

The beast’s second hand now glowed with a gathering electrical hum, ready to discharge a bolt of lightning directly into her at point-blank range.

Before the Minotaur could fully lift its hand to fire, Felix and Ray jumped forward.

They quickly pressed their weight onto the monster’s limb, forcing it back down with a grunt of collective effort.

Frost crept from the girl’s fingers and onto the blade she was holding, encasing the steel in a layer of reinforced ice as it neared the creature’s face.

Caster remained on high guard, ready to send his wolf forward to retrieve them at a mont’s notice.

Van stayed poised with his cannon, his finger hovering over the trigger just in case.

Everybody held their breath in a silent prayer, hoping the slash would actually accomplish sothing.

Even if it didn’t defeat the beast, they needed hope.

An opening.

Sothing to capitalize on in order to facilitate their desperate escape.

However....
