Fu Jinghen still stood unmoved in front of the floor-to-ceiling window.

"I have packed all my belongings. You can deal with the stuff in the walk-in closet as you see fit, since it was all bought by you; taking it away wouldn’t be right."

Wen Qiao looked at his rigid back and spoke resolutely, "We didn’t sign any prenuptial agreents before our engagent, which saves trouble. You don’t owe any compensation. Let’s part on good terms."

After a while, the man standing in front of the floor-to-ceiling window finally let out a slow "hmm."

"Is there anything else you want to say to ?" Wen Qiao asked.

"The engagent was dissolved by ; mother—," Fu Jinghen hesitated, then said, "I will explain things to my aunt and my sister myself. I won’t make things difficult for you."

"......"

What a responsible and accountable good man indeed.

Wen Qiao’s mouth twitched mockingly, seeing that the man showed no reaction. She nodded, pulled her suitcase, walked to the entrance, changed her shoes, opened the door, and left.

As the door closed, it didn’t make a thunderous noise as if to vent anger, but shut ordinarily, as if she was just leaving for a while.

There was a short distance from the entrance to the gate of the yard. Just a couple of days ago, on her way ho, she remarked that the yard felt empty. She had planned that next ti she was ho with so free ti, she would plant sothing, preferably roses.

Then, she could pick so petals and make fresh flower cakes for Fu Jinghen.

She always liked brightly colored things because she felt that they made a lasting impression at first glance.

Her steps neither slowed in hope of soone coming to hold her back nor quickened as if wishing to escape the place at once.

When Jiang Yao received Wen Qiao’s call, the car hadn’t gone far. By the ti she had gathered her things and reached the yard’s gate, the car that had left only fifteen minutes before was parked back in its spot.

Jiang Yao opened the car door, glanced at the luggage next to Wen Qiao, then at her, "Why, why are you packing up all of a sudden?"

Wen Qiao appeared no different from usual, her voice not betraying any aberration, "Director Zhang just called urgently asking to return to filming. Neither the lead actress nor the supporting actress is on set; can this show even continue? I figured I was free, so I rushed back."

"Then, President Fu and the endorsent..."

Wen Qiao’s hand, gripping the suitcase handle, turned sowhat pale from the grip, instinctively lying to Jiang Yao, "He had sudden business to attend to and is on a trip. Let’s wait until he’s back to discuss it."

"Okay—"

Her words were abruptly cut off when she inadvertently caught sight of the man’s silhouette at the villa’s window. Despite the heavy night, Jiang Yao could clearly see that his gaze was fixed on Wen Qiao at that mont.

She was startled and imdiately realized Wen Qiao had just lied; surely there was so problem between the two of them.

In just a second or two, Jiang Yao’s thoughts had raced through several turns. She didn’t expose Wen Qiao’s lie but continued the unfinished conversation, "I’ll book the tickets right now and go to Hang City with you."

"There’s no need, just drop at the airport, and you and Xiao Chu head back ho. No need to put yourself through this so late at night."

"What nonsense are you talking about? When you called to co pick you up, weren’t you worried about bothering ?" Jiang Yao shoved her, pushing her towards the car, "I’m your agent and Xiao Chu is your assistant; if we don’t go through the trouble for you, who will? Besides, such a beautiful woman flying alone on a red-eye flight, do you think I can spend the whole night at ho without worrying?"
