As Ryan stepped out of the portal, two thoughts were running through his head. The first was the hatred that was consuming his mind as he fought the beetles. The second was a doubt he'd had for a long ti.
'What are the portals...'
If Ryan already had access to the second world, he could report that the place was different from the versions presented in the portals. This ant that the portals were a kind of ti copy of the second world, a frozen fraction of the place. But how they ca to be or who controlled the flow of portals were questions that were still hanging over his head.
Opening his system window, Ryan once again stared at the tir running on his mission screen. At tis, the tir would go down for days, at others, it would go up again. As much as he couldn't understand what the guardian of the void wanted with it, he wondered if he could accept her help.
'She must be treacherous'
'Wait, repeat that please'
Slowly, the pieces of the puzzle began to fit together. John Wrinn said that Ryan would beco an important warrior, Nyx felt that she should hand over the system to him. It was as if things were moving in a direction to strengthen him.
'Fate'
Ryan's eyes widened, and Kodiak, confused, asked if everything was all right.
"Yeah, I'm just thinking about so things," Ryan replied.
"You still look a bit dazed, why don't you take a break and have a nice cup of coffee with this druid here?" Kodiak said with a smile as he pointed at himself.
Ryan nodded, and the two of them left the HQ for a portal that led to the Neodrazzil shopping center, near Lyza's apartnt.
Stepping out of the dinsional rift, Ryan was looking at a large building with glass walls and modern architecture. On the top was written "Spellbound Sips, isn't this place a bit expensive?" asked the boy.
The druid laughed at his reaction "You certainly make a lot more money than I do, but don't worry about it. It's on "
"That's fine with , but you should know that I don't like n," Ryan replied. The druid first widened his eyes at the answer and then laughed in surprise. Slowly catching his breath, Kodiak said, "I'm sure of it! I just want to offer you a good cup of coffee"
When Ryan passed the glass door that closed the place, the first thing he saw right in front of his eyes were two attendants with rabbit ears. 'That's different,' he thought, at least, seeing two half-beasts of the sa species attending was sothing he hadn't thought would be very common.
The sweet sll of cappuccinos, lattes and coffees reached Ryan's nose, taking his attention away from the taste of the place. "I'll take two Mana Latte Bombs, in the large size. Oh, and four chocolate marshmallow cookies please."
The two rabbit girls bowed and held out their hands, beckoning the two to keep walking. Passing the counter, they sat down in a chair on the second floor. As Ryan looked from one side of the place to the other, he could only find half-beasts working.
"Does this place only employ half-beasts?" Ryan said quietly, almost whispering. Kodiak laughed at the question and nodded. The druid's folded arms and serious face conveyed confidence, but all that was shattered when he spoke again, "This place belongs to my father, he has peculiar taste."
"Hmm... Peculiar"
