In the mist.
Gao Fei hugged a bunch of athysts and grinned widely, "Truly a big fool!" In Gao Fei's eyes, Hao Niu was an outright idiot with pitifully low intelligence, easily duped and deceived.
"With such low intelligence, to actually beco the chief of bandits! Unbelievable! A miracle!"
"But then again, if the other party was smarter, I wouldn't have gotten the athysts, let alone killed Cao Buwei and Di Renkui."
"Hmm, I hope you keep this level of intelligence."
...
"These athysts are too beautiful!"
"So beautiful it's unbearable."
"Co on, give you a kiss!"
After kissing each of the fifty athysts, Gao Fei's excitent gradually subsided.
"One's mindset still needs to be tempered," Gao Fei mused, slightly curling his lips: "I get this excited over fifty athysts, what if I encounter five hundred, five thousand, fifty thousand, five million... Wouldn't I be excited to death?"
"I must temper my mindset!"
"At least to the point where... when I encounter fifty athysts again, I won't get excited anymore."
"One step at a ti."
"Sooner or later, I will stand at the peak of Elysium, looking down upon the heavens and the earth, accomplishing an unmatched hegemony, where all beings will rely on my breath to live."
"It's just that I don't know... when that day will co."
...
After playing with them for a while, Gao Fei stored the athysts and then checked on Miao Kuangfeng's condition; his vital signs were normal, his breathing was steady, and there was no danger to his life, just that his internal injuries were severe and he couldn't wake up anyti soon.
In the following ti, Gao Fei began studying the white egg.
Not even an hour had passed, and the white egg underwent huge changes; first, its size increased, and second, the cracks on the eggshell beca more nurous, dense and nearly covering the entire eggshell...
Gao Fei's eyes sparkled as he muttered to himself, "Once the cracks accumulate to a certain level, will the eggshell split open? And then so creature will pop out from inside?"
These white eggs were obtained from the mysterious "Immortal Palace" and were definitely not ordinary grade.
"Grow faster!"
"Hurry up and crack open! All co out!"
"Let see what exactly you are."
Gao Fei was growing impatient.
Humans always have a curiosity for the unknown.
Thinking of the "Immortal Palace," Gao Fei rembered another matter; he encountered a mory Stone in the "Immortal Palace." Hidden within the mory Stone were the ntal powers of a predecessor who communicated with Gao Fei, telling him many hidden secrets, two of which caught Gao Fei's attention.
The first one was that the path to becoming an immortal was sealed. No matter how hard mortals tried, they could not ascend to the Immortal Realm, and without Ascension, one couldn't beco a true immortal, and not becoming an immortal ant slowly aging to death.
The second thing was that the predecessor had once befriended a beloved companion who was the Holy Maiden of Piaomiao Palace. Later on, due to certain events, they parted ways and never saw each other again until death. The predecessor greatly regretted this, and so many years had passed that the Holy Maiden must have passed away.
The predecessor asked Gao Fei to pay homage to the Holy Maiden for him and also to find her descendants.
These two matters had always been on Gao Fei's mind and were not forgotten.
"Why was the path to becoming an immortal sealed?" Gao Fei frowned in deep thought: "Is there a way to solve this?"
Gao Fei's goal was to ascend to the Immortal Realm and beco an immortal, then obtain infinite life, exist as long as heaven and earth, and no longer worry about life and death.
Now that the path to becoming an immortal was severed, how could Gao Fei not be anxious?
"The path to becoming immortal wouldn't be severed for no reason."
"There must be unknown secrets hidden within."
"Perhaps it's an earth-shattering secret."
"My cultivation is too low, I can't even touch the highest level, let alone explore the reasons behind it,"
"Luckily, I'm still far from reaching the Tribulation Crossing Stage, so there's no need to worry about this issue for now… Who knows, by the ti I cultivate to the Tribulation Crossing Period Great Perfection, the path to Becoming an Immortal might already be open?"
...
In an instant, many thoughts flashed through Gao Fei's mind.
"Could it be that the Immortal Realm is already overcrowded, hence the closure of the ascension pathway from the Lower Realms?"
After this thought occurred, Gao Fei imdiately dismissed it, "Impossible! Legend has it that the Immortal Realm is boundless, it can accommodate countless people no matter how many there are; there definitely won't be an issue of overcrowding, there must be a problem sowhere else."
"Crack..."
A crisp sound interrupted Gao Fei's contemplation.
"Huh?"
Gao Fei looked up to see a white egg crack open, a small thing was faintly visible wriggling inside the shell, Gao Fei's face lit up with joy, "Is it finally coming out? I've waited too long for this day!"
...
Outside.
Hao Niu stamped his feet in frustration, "It's been three days already, that damn guy hasn't shown up, I don't even know if he's run away."
"You'd know if you went in to check," Ma Wei said indifferently.
"I'm not ready to die yet," Hao Niu glared fiercely at Ma Wei, "Can't you stop making those chilly remarks?"
"Fine, from now on, I'll keep quiet," Ma Wei closed his mouth.
"You... you'll be the death of soday," Hao Niu huffed and walked off to one side, then stared blankly at the black fog, "I can't just keep waiting like this, I need to think of sothing. Should I try with fire? Most poison fogs are afraid of fire, I'm not sure about this black fog though. Whatever, let's just give it a try, we'll see if it works."
Once he thought of it, he had to act on it.
Hao Niu gathered a large pile of dry grass around the black fog and then set it on fire.
The fire was blazing, almost enough to turn the sky red… But looking back at the black fog… it seed completely unaffected...
"Stop wasting ti," Ma Wei waved his hand, "If this black fog were afraid of fire, it would have been eliminated long ago."
"Then what do you suggest we do?" Hao Niu was truly out of ideas, "We can't just keep waiting here, right? Don't forget, those bandits we hired, for each day we dally, we have to pay a hefty sum of Spirit Stones..."
"You're wealthy and mighty, you won't care about those Spirit Stones," Ma Wei teased.
"Bullshit, where am I wealthy and mighty? Over the years, I did rob quite a lot, but I gave most of it to my brothers, I hardly kept anything for myself."
"Alright, no need to explain, you could talk till the end of ti, and I still wouldn't believe you," Ma Wei retorted.
"You..."
"Now we have only two options, the first: stay here, the second: leave."
"Is there a third one?"
"Oh, there is! You rush into the black fog to grab the person. If you're lucky, maybe you'll co out alive."
"..."
Hao Niu began to admire his own patience; first played by Gao Fei and now provoked by Ma Wei, yet he was still holding back? That was quite impressive!
Unable to co up with a better plan, they could only continue waiting.
To just leave like this was too hard to swallow for Hao Niu.
...
Ti passed.
Without realizing it, ten days had gone by.
Gao Fei and Miao Kuangfeng still hadn't appeared, and Hao Niu was practically going insane with impatience.
