"You love ?" Third Young Master Jun was shocked.
"Yes, I love you, Jun Huang!" Ye Lu looked at him intently, her tone more devout than ever before.
Third Young Master Jun suddenly found himself speechless; his expression remained calm, but his heart was filled with overwhelming joy and relief, his fingertips trembling uncontrollably. She had finally admitted it—she loved him. It wasn’t just his unrequited love; they loved each other, each adoring the other!
He had waited a long ti for this answer, and now that he had received it, he had no regrets in this life.
He reached out, tenderly caressing her face.
"I love you too."
Her eyes, moist with tears, showed a flash of joy. She covered his hand with hers, affectionately rubbing his icy palms, overwheld with emotion.
"But it’s already too late."
Ye Lu’s smile froze on her lips as if struck by lightning; she stared at him in disbelief, unable to accept it.
Her pale lips trembled, and her gaze drifted aimlessly as she tried to speak, her voice barely a whisper, yet shivering uncontrollably.
"It’s impossible."
Third Young Master Jun smiled indifferently, "Why is it impossible? At the mont I knelt before you, my love reached its peak. But do you know that when a wave reaches its highest point, it ans it will start to fall? There is no unchanging love in the world, nor is there a love that forever burns without extinguishing.
"Ye Lu, you made wait too long, and then you dashed cold water on it, so it dimd, extinguished all at once; even the fiercest fire cannot withstand the brutal quench of water. I think, from the mont you ntioned ’divorce,’ my heart couldn’t love you as before, craziness can’t continue after the madness."
He spoke the cruelest words tenderly, his fingers caressing her face, his tone so calm and rational, each argunt fitting perfectly yet chilling to the bone, making every cell in one’s body freeze and tremble, leaving no room for hope.
Ye Lu stared at him blankly, her chest suffocating as if she had gone numb, tears gradually welling up in her eyes.
Then they rged into streams, trailing down her fair cheeks.
She wailed inconsolably.
She shook her head desperately, tears scattering as she cried hoarsely.
"I don’t believe this; you’re lying to . I won’t believe your words."
Again and again, she murmured to herself, her tear-filled eyes still stubbornly fixed on him, clutching his hand, questioning sharply.
"Are you lying to , aren’t you? You have a hardship, afraid it will drag down, afraid I will be in danger following you, right? That’s why you are pushing away, it must be so! But I’m not afraid, I’ve decided to be with you; I fear nothing, be it danger or difficulty, even if we beco beggars, I’ll still follow you, to be a beggar couple. We’ll face all difficulties together; we want to be together forever, okay?"
Her eyes blurred with tears, she pleaded in a choked voice, hoping for a flicker of response, hoping to revive a bit of his love.
"Say sothing, Jun Huang, promise !"
She clutched his clothes, crying like a figure made of tears.
Third Young Master Jun saw her crying so heartbrokenly in front of him, gasping for air, nearly convulsing.
His heart was suddenly pierced with unimaginable pain as if a long knife had brutally stabbed him; the pain was beyond description. He desperately wanted to hold her, to comfort her gently in his arms, to tell her not to cry, not to be sad.
He didn’t an to hurt her; he just wanted sothing better for her.
She was willing to be recklessly with him, her courage and love so profound; he was moved. Yet, the more she was like this, the more he had to let her go.
If just parting now was so painful for her, then how could she face the despair of a life-and-death separation in the future, how could she continue to live?
