Chen Ze had returned to the kitchen. The monster before him, a societal vengeance-seeker, was of an ingredient Chen Ze wasn’t quite sure about. However, this did not stop him from wanting to attempt it himself. After all, if future culinary tides brought over more unfamiliar ingredients, Chen Ze couldn’t just be at a loss, not knowing what to do.
"This grilled sausage, the flavor is really... indescribable." Chen Ze glanced at the sausage he had cut into, finding its taste could best be described as "peculiar."
Chen Ze had originally thought his developed grilled sausage recipe, even if not delicious, wouldn’t end in disaster. However, once completed, he realized the taste was beyond what he had imagined.
With a marinated flavor that had been further caralized by grilling, the skin tasted burnt and unpleasant. Moreover, the entire sausage didn’t taste good; Chen Ze could only conclude this experint was an outright failure.
Chen Ze wasn’t overly concerned, though, as he had already cured another batch of sausages following the traditional thod, just in case. Now, it seed a good ti to start grilling them.
As he placed the sausages on the grill, Chen Ze grabbed a cleaver and extracted a large dragon tail from the storeroom rock, cutting a small slice off.
Indeed, it was a dragon, and quite an ugly one at that, which made Chen Ze seriously wonder if this beast was a Shiny White Lightning Dragon that had burrowed its way out of Monster Hunter World?
"No strange flavors... But this..." Chen Ze’s mouth twitched involuntarily; it had to be said that the suspected White Lightning Dragon flesh felt incredibly disgusting.
Of course, it wasn’t the flesh itself that was revolting—once cut open, it felt similar to beef—but the white skin was truly unacceptable, and since the storeroom rock preserved freshness, the at still felt like slimy rubber to the touch.
Chen Ze glanced at the grill. Because the sausage wasn’t too large, it was cooking quickly. To avoid any negligence that could lead to burning, Chen Ze decided to set aside the dragon at for the mont, focusing instead on cooking the sausage just right.
Chen Ze sniffed the air. A pleasant aroma wafted about, quite satisfying indeed, but the System’s notification didn’t pop up, indicating the grilled sausage hadn’t earned its recognition.
But this was within Chen Ze’s expectations, as making grilled sausage was quite simple, and he didn’t count on the System’s approval. So, he called Betty over and had her serve the grilled sausage to Moriarty.
"So now, it’s ti to experint with this piece of at..." Chen Ze sighed. Honestly, he didn’t want to continue handling it, but he had no choice at this point.
To determine if the skin would affect the at’s quality, Chen Ze cut a piece from the middle, then plated it. He began washing both pieces of at thoroughly.
After confirming they were clean, Chen Ze placed them on the grill to start cooking.
Surprisingly, the suspected rubbery skin reacted quickly to the flas, changing color and releasing a unique scent that was sowhat intoxicating to Chen Ze.
"This sll..." Chen Ze paused for a mont. He had expected a rubbery odor or sothing else entirely, which wouldn’t have surprised him.
However, the aroma now emanating was of an alcoholic nature, heady and strong as if the air itself contained alcohol.
"Could it be that this thing contains alcohol naturally?" Chen Ze wondered, recalling a similar ingredient from Gourt Hunter that was quite special.
Without dwelling on it, Chen Ze focused on the task at hand; the at was changing color swiftly, and if he didn’t flip it soon, charring was only a matter of ti.
But within two minutes, Chen Ze had already placed the two servings of grilled at onto plates.
The grilled at with skin on it now looked like burnt rubber stuck to the at, while the other slice of grilled at appeared much more normal. If it weren’t for the faint scent of alcohol in the air, Chen Ze would have thought it was just an ordinary piece of grilled at.
"Let taste this," Chen Ze said, picking up his chopsticks and grabbing the slice of normal-looking grilled at before stuffing it into his mouth.
As soon as he bit down, Chen Ze was t with a rich aroma of liquor, as if the at itself was made from alcohol. Grilling didn’t ruin the flavor of the at; instead, it released the full aroma.
Chen Ze wasn’t much of a drinker, but after graduating from college, with all the team building and socializing, he had had his fair share of alcohol. Therefore, he quickly identified that the scent was that of brandy.
However, compared to the brandies he had drunk before, this one had a more exquisite fragrance, but it wasn’t as intoxicating.
The alcohol aroma was underlined by the robust flavor of the at; although the liquor taste was llow, it didn’t overshadow the flavor of the at but seed to complent it instead.
"I rember now, isn’t this the Bacchus Dragon at from Gourt Hunter?" Chen Ze imdiately recalled this thing that he had seen once.
On one hand, it was very ugly and lacked the majestic aura of a dragon, and on the other, it was said to be a delicacy only for adults—those not yet twenty years old were forbidden to taste it.
This left a deep impression on Chen Ze at the ti. At the very least, he had been very curious about what flavor would be considered an adult’s taste.
"Manager, what delicious food are you making now~" Betty sauntered in, eyeing Chen Ze with great expectation.
"Eh, trying out so ingredients?" Chen Ze glanced at Betty and then the other slice of grilled at on the plate.
The appearance of this grilled at wasn’t appealing, but still, it emanated the aroma of a top-quality brandy.
"Can I try it?" Betty also noticed the plate of grilled at in front of Chen Ze.
"I don’t mind, after all, I have plenty of it," Chen Ze nodded. Naturally, it could be tasted, although he wasn’t sure about the flavor.
"Manager, how does it taste?" Out of caution, Betty asked Chen Ze.
"Great, the at is fantastic," Chen Ze nodded. The grilled at was, indeed, perfect; the ingredient itself was top-notch.
"Okay, I’m going to dig in!" Betty picked up her chopsticks and stuffed the remaining grilled at into her mouth.
"But the skin, I don’t know about that..." Chen Ze added.
