"Perfect Paluda?" Chen Ze was a bit bewildered, as this was his first ti seeing a dish of perfect level and also the first ti he had made one.
But to say that he had made it himself was sowhat problematic, as Chen Ze had of course seen the system’s prompt, as well as the remark behind this Paluda.
Chen Ze scratched his head as he looked at the two orphans with their eyes fixated intently on him, and he wasn’t entirely sure why this Paluda had reached the perfect level.
Maybe these kids were the system’s illegitimate children, but of course, Chen Ze also knew that this was almost entirely impossible, as the system couldn’t possibly have illegitimate children.
So that left only one reason.
Chen Ze pushed the two cups of Paluda in front of the wandering children, then turned back to the kitchen; he needed to continue making sothing to eat.
Paluda could only quench thirst and cravings—if one expected this to fill a stomach, they would probably need to consu several cups.
Chen Ze planned to make a pot of vegetable and lean at porridge, rembering news stories saying that people who had starved for a long ti shouldn’t eat food directly at first, but should start with porridge or liquid food.
anwhile, Elena pushed a serving of Paluda in front of her brother, rembering that he hadn’t eaten for three days, and didn’t even have snow to eat.
Andrew struggled to hold the spoon, specially prepared by Chen Ze as he had co to know that guests from other worlds were not familiar with chopsticks.
But after three days without food, surviving only on dirty water from the ditches, Andrew was very weak, his hands shaking as he dropped the spoon onto the table.
"Brother, please eat sothing quickly, this seems to be hard bread." Elena urgently handed her brother a softened piece of French hard bread.
She certainly knew why her brother was like this, as he had given her all the food he had found over the past three days.
Andrew opened his mouth and took the hard bread into his mouth.
Without the hard texture scratching his throat, this piece of hard bread tasted exceptionally delicious; the rich flavor of milk and the sweetness that reached deep into his soul gave Andrew a bit of strength.
He had never tasted sothing so delicious before, not even the assistance al distributed by the Church of Light—the bland soup that was so diluted it seed to cast human shadows—tasted as good as this.
Andrew, struggling to hold the spoon, scooped up a spoonful of the still-steaming milk and sago and put it into his mouth.
Is this the Kingdom of God... Andrew squinted his eyes in enjoynt. This was the taste of milk, a luxury that an orphan like Andrew had no right to indulge in.
In the City of Holy Glory, milk was usually sothing only nobles were privileged to enjoy; even the worst quality Buru milk cost 1 silver coin per small can at the market.
A silver coin! Andrew rembered that at Jack’s Bakery in the slums, popular among the poor, a silver coin could buy more than thirty hard and blackened loaves of bread.
Although those loaves had to be soaked in water before eating, lest they chip your teeth, but for a street urchin like Andrew, it was still precious food.
"Sister, eat quickly; eat more. We’ll have to work for the nobles later!" Andrew urged Elena, who was still holding the cup and savoring the aroma, rembering that the noble lord called manager had said they could work off their debt.
By the God of Light! As long as he could survive this winter in such a warm room, he was willing to do even the hardest and most tiring work.
After all, Andrew had seen several of his companions frozen to death in the piles of straw, and then carried off by the city guard to feed the wolves.
"Alright, brother." Elena reluctantly put down her cup; this white substance was the most delicious-slling food she had ever encountered.
"You should eat it like this, it tastes better this way," Andrew said as he picked up a piece of hard bread, soaked it in milk, and then scooped it up with a spoon and swallowed.
Following her brother’s thod, Elena also ate a piece in the sa way; the deliciousness overwheld her so much that she couldn’t help but close her eyes and let out a contented hum.
When she opened her eyes again, she found several pieces of hard bread in her cup. She quickly turned her head, only to see that Andrew had already finished his portion and was asking Chen Ze if there was anything to be done.
Elena looked down at the hard bread in her cup, her big eyes blinking, and before long, the calm surface of Paluda was baptized by a gentle rain.
"Are you done eating?" Chen Ze asked, surprised, as he looked at the little boy in front of him. While the boy seed a bit more spirited, he still looked malnourished.
"Yes, noble sir, is there anything I can do for you?" Andrew asked, bowing his head respectfully, looking at the floor. He was a bit worried about what kind of strange request the nobleman might make.
"Go sit outside for now, I’ll have sothing for you later," Chen Ze waved his hand dismissively, not planning to employ child labor, even in another world.
"Alright, noble sir," Andrew bowed and retreated to the dining room.
Chen Ze glanced over and continued to tend to the pot in front of him, which was simring with a vegetable and lean at porridge.
It was just a simple vegetable and lean at porridge, which Chen Ze could make without consulting a recipe. However, to verify his recent thoughts, he used so unique ingredients.
Soon Chen Ze turned off the heat; the porridge was ready.
[You have made a barely acceptable vegetable and lean at porridge. Ho cooking experience increased by 3 points.]
Chen Ze shrugged, unconcerned, before calling Betty to bring out the pot of porridge and two bowls.
Chen Ze followed beside her, intending to see if things were as he had thought.
[The barely acceptable vegetable and lean at porridge has gained a temporary effect.]
[Better Vegetable and Lean at Porridge (Exclusive to the Nafi Siblings)]
Chen Ze nodded with satisfaction, everything was as he had imagined.
When he was getting ready to cook the porridge, he wondered why Paluda beca the perfect Paluda. He felt the biggest difference was using hot milk to warm up the two cold little ones.
Similarly, might the two hungry little ones need so salt and glucose replenishnt?
Then Chen Ze made this pot of vegetable and lean at porridge. The facts proved Chen Ze’s conjecture was correct; the barely acceptable at porridge had its effect enhanced, though it wasn’t perfect.
"This is the vegetable and lean at porridge I prepared for you. Don’t overeat," Chen Ze said, a bit worried the two little ones would eat too much and hurt their stomachs.
Doing so would turn his good intentions into bad actions.
The Nafi siblings exchanged a look, astonishnt in their eyes.
"Noble sir... I won’t sell my sister," Andrew hesitated for a while, but still spoke up.
"..." Chen Ze’s face contorted with frustration.
