The next morning, Chen Ze yawned and gradually climbed out of bed, feeling like he finally had so energy again. He didn’t even rember falling asleep the night before.
"So sleepy... Let’s see, what do I need to do today..." Chen Ze scratched his head, and after a quick wash, he headed to the kitchen.
"Tomorrow is Starfall School’s anniversary celebration, I need to prepare so ingredients for roasting ahead of ti... and get the sauces ready too." Chen Ze stretched, pulling the leftover tentacles out of the freezer from yesterday.
One had to admit that magic was an amazing thing—at least after Chen Ze chopped up a whole bucketful, he discovered that only one third of the tentacle was gone, which reaffird this belief.
With any other squid, a bucket that size would be enough for the tentacles of hundreds of squids, maybe even not enough.
"I rember that vampire loli said these tentacles automatically fall out of their water sphere after a certain period, right?" Chen Ze touched his chin, pretty sure he rembered correctly, that’s what Lafra had said.
"Then I really struck a bargain. I just wonder how long she ant by ’a certain period’..." Chen Ze shook his head, picked up the knife and continued to cut tentacles. He needed to skewer them later, and the thought alone made him realize there’d be no rest for him today.
"%¥?" Hearing the unintelligible language and familiar accent, Chen Ze peeked out to see Betty already standing at the dining room entrance dressed in maid attire.
Chen Ze pressed his hand against the stone slab engraved with ’Arcane Wisdom’ before speaking, "Betty, you’re back. Co over and help out."
Chen Ze felt that Betty’s return was impeccably tid, at least he could relax a bit now. Even though he would be without mobile signal, it was still much better than being busy alone.
Betty obediently walked in, only to see a full bucket of tentacles and a pile of bamboo skewers.
"Boss, what do you need to do?" Betty had a bad feeling about this.
"I’ll show you, watch carefully. Your job will be what I’m about to teach you." Chen Ze picked up a tentacle and a skewer, threading them together before placing them in another bucket.
After placing it in the bucket, Chen Ze looked at Betty, "Betty, this is what we’ll be doing next in our shop. Got it?"
"I... I’ve got it, but boss, I feel that I’m better suited to warming your bed or giving you a massage or sothing." Betty put on a mournful face, rarely having done any physical labor, especially this kind of monotonous and tedious task.
She found it easier to accept indecent proposals from Chen Ze rather than such tasks.
Chen Ze ignored Betty and continued to cut tentacles, "I’m not interested in flat chests. Hurry up and cut. We might get custors later."
Betty pouted but complied and began to skewer the tentacles by the bucket.
When you’re busy, ti flies, and soon it was noon.
Chen Ze wiped his sweat and flexed his wrists. Having cut tentacles all morning, he finally finished. If chopping could earn experience points, Chen Ze felt like he would be constantly collecting 1s above his head.
Turning around, Chen Ze saw Betty quietly sitting on a small stool, her hands swiftly skewering tentacles, with only the last bucket to go.
"Boss, do you think we can really sell all these tentacles?" Betty looked disgusted, feeling like she slled of seafood today as if she were a naga that had crawled up from the sea.
"What do you think about Riesel and Sebastian’s appetites?" Chen Ze didn’t answer but posed a question.
"They’re huge. But those are dragons... Boss, do you plan to sell these things to Riesel and them?" Betty had an epiphany, thinking that for Riesel’s appetite, these many tentacles just might be enough to fill the gaps in his teeth.
"No, these tentacles have a different use. But don’t worry, I think we might not even have enough." Thinking about his appetite from high school days, Chen Ze was sowhat worried.
The adolescent years of humans are always accompanied by an appetite so huge that it’s hard to believe, with the peak of this hunger striking right around middle and high school.
"Manager, if you... sell these to humans, this is really too much," Betty shook her head, rembering that Count Rose would eat only a small amount when dining.
"Manager, do you have any recomnded dishes this ti?" Before Chen Ze could answer Betty’s question, Lafra’s voice appeared in Chen Ze’s mind.
Chen Ze tied on his headscarf and felt the fatigue in his body ebb away, replaced now by a surge of strength.
"Betty, go take care of the custors!" Chen Ze walked out; the nu was still not ready, and he had to attend to the custors personally.
It seed that after the busy school anniversary, he would need to find so ti to work on the nu with Betty.
Lafra was still wearing that blood-red dress, her short legs wobbling as she walked. She looked up at Chen Ze, "Manager, I’d like a parfait and another dish that you recomnd."
Chen Ze fought the urge to ruffle Lafra’s head, feeling that if he did, sothing very unpleasant might happen.
"Alright, custor, please wait a mont," Chen Ze took a deep breath to calm his emotions before returning to the kitchen to start preparing the dishes Lafra had asked for, leaving Betty, who was still shaking slightly, to attend to the little Vampiric Countess.
Before long, Chen Ze had prepared a parfait. Looking at it, he once again fell into thought, considering that today might be his lucky day. Maybe he should buy a lottery ticket?
[You have made an ordinary parfait, and your dessert making experience has increased by 4 points.]
[Dessert Novice effect triggered.]
[The ordinary parfait has gained a Sensitivity effect.]
Another dessert with a low chance effect triggered, another random effect on a dessert.
Chen Ze hesitated for a mont but still called Betty over and asked her to serve the parfait.
Lafra looked at the parfait in front of her with a hint of disappointnt, not feeling the taste of the previous parfait, that holy aura that made her feel uncomfortable all over.
It looked like this trip was in vain. Lafra shook her head but still scooped up a spoonful of the parfait and put it in her mouth.
The taste was very ordinary, with no noteworthy qualities, not even coming close to the sensation of the second serving of parfait she had last ti.
Lafra ate the parfait with an expressionless face, deciding to never co back again after finishing the dish Chen Ze would serve later.
Soon enough, Betty brought out a dish, steaming hot and exuding a tantalizing aroma.
"This is the manager’s recomndation for today —mapo tofu. Please enjoy it with so rice," said Betty as she set down the dish and then stepped aside.
The sight of the vibrant red dish lightened Lafra’s mood a bit, but just a bit.
Lafra picked up her spoon, scooped up half a spoonful of the mapo tofu, and ate it together with so rice.
"Ding dang" was the sound of the spoon dropping on the table.
