Chen Ze was a bit out of sorts, not that anything particularly bizarre had happened yesterday, but simply because he had been preoccupied with the question of whether or not Lafra had been awake.
In the morning, Chen Ze had asked, "Lafra, what ti did you fall asleep yesterday?"
Lafra responded with a beaming smile that gave Chen Ze a stomachache, and he still had no idea what she ant.
There’s no denying it, for most n, trying to guess what their girlfriend is thinking is a truly painful affair.
"What do you want to eat?"
"Anything."
"How about grilled fish? I know a Chongqing grilled fish place..."
"No, I’ve been getting pimples on my face recently..."
"Then how about a clear broth beef hot pot, it’s nourishing."
"Forget it, the weather’s too hot, I don’t feel like having hot pot."
"So, what do you want to eat?"
"Anything." And usually, this sort of thing ends with the guy internally bleeding.
While Lafra wasn’t that extre, and she was pretty, and exceptionally cute, she was also much too clever.
"So did she realize it...or did she not..." Chen Ze scratched his head, then changed into his chef’s uniform and went downstairs.
This ti, Chen Ze decided to make sothing very traditional, a dish that most Chinese people can cook – egg fried rice.
Chen Ze always thought of egg fried rice as a national dish, from elderly to primary school children, it was sothing everyone found approachable.
He had also heard that so chefs made egg fried rice where the egg completely enveloped the rice.
But Chen Ze wasn’t planning to do that; he intended to make a traditional egg fried rice.
Chen Ze unlocked the rice cooker and peeked inside—there was still so leftover cold rice from yesterday.
"Indeed, for making egg fried rice, leftover cold rice is the way to go." Chen Ze tied on his headband and scooped out a large bowl of rice to prepare.
While Chen Ze did plan to make egg fried rice, this wasn’t going to be just any egg fried rice; the difference lay in the bits of diced Moonlight Mushroom that he added to it.
Soon, a steaming bowl of egg fried rice was ready. Chen Ze couldn’t help but swallow, the aroma was enticing, blending the scents of egg and Moonlight Mushroom.
He scooped up a spoonful and chewed slowly; it was indeed a dish of fine quality, tasting much better than ordinary egg fried rice.
However, Chen Ze wasn’t satisfied; after all, this egg fried rice had been achieved with a bit of a shortcut. If he were to make it again without the Moonlight Mushroom, it was uncertain whether it would receive the sa praise.
"So, in the end... it’s still because my culinary skills are lacking, right?" Chen Ze sighed. It seed the road to becoming a master chef was still long.
"Manager~" Betty burst in cheerfully, clutching the Switch that Chen Ze had bought her.
Chen Ze had had enough of the pain of his ga saves being overwritten, so in the end, he had bought Betty her own Switch, effectively safeguarding his own data.
"Betty, write a line and put it at the entrance of the restaurant." Chen Ze moved a blackboard over; he had written the Chinese, English, and Japanese text following translations from Baidu.
"Eh? Okay, let see..." Betty leaned over to take a look, and then she saw a line of text written above.
"As long as it is within the capacity of our restaurant, you can freely order according to your own requirents," Betty read out softly.
"Manager, what does this an?" Betty was a bit puzzled.
"It ans that today’s custors can make their own special requests, like wanting sothing saltier, or wanting to eat so special dish — as long as I can make it, it’s all doable," Chen Ze replied while he was chopping vegetables.
It was a thod he had thought of to exercise his culinary skills. After all, making dishes that satisfy each custor’s desires is the mark of a god-tier chef.
No problem, that’s exactly what they did in Food Wars and Cooking Master Boy; it’s just that later on it turned into using superpowers to cook.
At the very least, Chen Ze didn’t think he was capable of cooking with the Yangtze River, but...
Chen Ze looked at the kitchen knife in his hand thoughtfully. Considering his restaurant, who’s to say he wouldn’t be able to do just that in the future?
By then, cooking fish with the Yangtze River, making shaved ice with the Himalayas, or making hot pot with Mount Fuji?
As Chen Ze thought about it, a mischievous smile appeared on his face. If such a day really ca, he could tell Betty, "Betty, I quit being human!"
Betty, observing Chen Ze’s expression, shuddered subconsciously. She rembered that every ti Chen Ze showed this expression, he was plotting sothing particularly tricky, like that ti he had her try his dark cuisine creations.
Just the thought of those dark dishes Chen Ze had made was enough to make Betty shiver uncontrollably. She decided then and there that if Chen Ze asked her to taste test later, even if she had to be hung up and beaten by Lafra, she’d still run away.
"Betty?" Chen Ze glanced at Betty. What was this succubus doing? If she kept dawdling like this, the custors would start coming in.
"Okay!" Betty imdiately took the small blackboard and went out.
As for whether the custors could understand it, Chen Ze wasn’t worried about that in the slightest. The custors from other worlds generally understood it, those from Japanese manga understood Japanese, and there was English for those from Europe and Arica.
Soon, the first custor walked in under Chen Ze’s expectant gaze.
"Welco to Dream Restaurant, Lord Stan~" Betty imdiately welcod him, as Stan was a regular.
Stan looked at the blackboard in front of him and then glanced at Betty, who was making exaggerated gestures at him. "What’s going on?"
Betty sighed, it seed the first victim had arrived.
"Lord Stan, what would you like to eat?" asked Betty, following Chen Ze’s instructions.
"Buffet." Stan looked doubtfully at Betty and then at the kitchen.
If it weren’t for the familiar Magic Circle and familiar soul fluctuation, Stan would have thought this restaurant had changed hands.
"Do you have any special requests? Like sothing to add to the Buffet or a specific sweetness level?" Stan’s expression beca even stranger. What was this all about?
How long had he been coming to this restaurant? After the first ti, they never asked so many questions.
"Sa as usual," Betty breathed a sigh of relief and quickly inford Chen Ze, who was in the kitchen.
Chen Ze nodded; he had heard Stan’s words. The sa as usual? It seed there was no challenge.
But Chen Ze still decided to make so changes, knowing how much Stan enjoyed his Buffet.
After a while, Betty ca out with a huge cup of Buffet, and Stan’s spoon almost dropped at the sight.
