Chapter 447: 447 was lost right under my nose

At this mont, Ye Wenzheng was in the courtyard, just in ti to see Prince Jing falling from the sky, which scared him to his knees imdiately, “This humble one greets Your Highness.”

“You may dispense with the formalities,” Prince Jing said imdiately, waving his hand, then asked, “Where is Ye Jiu?”

“The young miss has just returned to her room. If Your Highness is looking for her, please wait a mont. This humble one will go and call her,” Ye Wenzheng scrambled to his feet to answer.

Prince Jing first nodded and then asked, “Did she return alone, or did she bring soone with her?”

Without being specific in his inquiry, Ye Wenzheng took a mont to understand and then replied, “Your Highness, the young miss returned alone, riding on Ye Bai.”

“Ye Bai?” Prince Jing furrowed his brow.

Thought to be a person, Ye Wenzheng imdiately explained, “Ye Bai is the pet that the young miss has raised, a male eagle.”

At this point, Prince Jing finally understood that the girl he saw riding the eagle was indeed Ye Jiu.

However, Ye Wenzheng said Ye Jiu didn’t bring Sikong Mo back with her, which Prince Jing found hard to believe.

Yet, upon careful observation, Ye Wenzheng’s expression did not seem deceitful.

Though Prince Jing often appeared carefree, he believed in his own judgnt; at least, mixing in the court year-round, his ability to read people had never been wrong.

Thus, there were only two possibilities: either Ye Wenzheng was indeed telling the truth, and Ye Jiu hadn’t brought anyone back with her, or the lad’s acting skills were too good, and Ye Jiu did bring soone back, but he was helping to conceal it.

Regardless of whether it was true or false, Prince Jing decided to et with Ye Jiu first before anything else.

A few days ago, he had just received news that Northern Qi was quietly amassing troops, and with Nanchang’s covetous eyes, Sikong Mo absolutely could not have any problems at this mont.

Prince Jing was utterly convinced that if Sikong Mo had truly disappeared, Northern Qi and Nanchang would likely soon attack Dongyue!

With that thought, Prince Jing spoke, “Go and have your young miss co out, tell her this prince has sothing to discuss with her.”

“Yes,” Ye Wenzheng said, and turned to trot towards Ye Jiu’s room to knock on her door.

“Young Miss, Prince Jing has co to seek you…” Ye Wenzheng knocked several tis emphatically, but there was no response from inside.

Ye Wenzheng turned back, looking at Prince Jing with a puzzled gaze.

Following that, he continued knocking on the door.

A flash of unpleasant premonition crossed Prince Jing’s mind, so he stepped up to take Ye Wenzheng’s place and knocked twice, “Ye Jiu, are you there? I’m coming in,” he said.

Half a day passed and still, there was no response from inside.

Prince Jing frowned, and he grabbed Ye Wenzheng to take a couple of steps back before forcefully kicking the door open.

Fearing he might see sothing improper, Prince Jing, after kicking the door open, did not rush in but waited a mont.

Yet, there was still no movent within the room, which clearly did not suggest the presence of a person.

Prince Jing beca more cautious and stepped into the room.

He searched the bed, behind the door, inside the cabinet, and even under the bed but found no trace of anyone.

Turning his head, Prince Jing asked Ye Wenzheng, “Are you certain she returned? Or is it possible she left again without you noticing?”

“Impossible, after the young miss entered the room, I have been in the courtyard all along. If she had left, I could not possibly have missed seeing her,” Ye Wenzheng grew equally anxious, “Moreover, we all live in the sa courtyard, and the young miss usually ntions when she goes out.”

This is the advantage of living in the sa courtyard; a slightly louder shout, and everyone in the courtyard would be aware, eliminating the need to run out or call soone deliberately.
