"It’s drinkable."
After An Ning said this, Mrs. Yan finally felt relieved and poured the water.
Once An Ning drank it and cald down a bit, she finally felt like she had co back to life.
Then, she ntioned that there might have been an earthquake outside.
That statent startled Mrs. Yan.
In so places, earthquakes happen frequently, but in Cuishi Town, there has been only one such event in history.
She had heard it from her ancestors. It’s said that many people died, and both human efforts and resources suffered great losses. It took several years of recuperation to finally recover sowhat.
Now, hearing An Ning ntion such a thing, her first concern was the safety of the villagers.
"No, Ningning, you and your brother stay here, let go out. I need to go back to Taohua Village to check on your uncle’s family and Xiaoniu. They are all outside, and if it really is an earthquake, we don’t know how they are now..." Mrs. Yan said urgently.
Upon hearing Mrs. Yan say this, An Ning rembered Xiaoniu and the Yan family.
In her heart, she was naturally very worried as well.
But she wasn’t assured of letting Mrs. Yan go out alone.
An Ning: "I should go out first to take a look. I just ca in after hearing a noise. Maybe, the situation outside isn’t as severe as I thought."
"No, you are just a child, you shouldn’t take the risk..."
Mrs. Yan was about to argue, but An Ning said, "Even if we can hide in here, as long as I don’t go out, the outside will always remain the sa. Mom, we can’t stay in here forever."
No one wants their child to face danger, but An Ning’s words left Mrs. Yan unable to argue.
Because, equally, no one can live forever in such a small space.
"If you go out, be careful, very careful. If you encounter any danger, co back imdiately. Don’t try to be brave..."
As she spoke, tears started streaming down Mrs. Yan’s face.
It was her own cowardice and incompetence, otherwise, she wouldn’t have let An Ning, a child, stand so steadfastly in front of her.
An Yu agreed, "Mom is right. If you run into any danger, co back quickly, we can think of other ways. Don’t try to handle it alone..."
"I know." An Ning smiled, but it couldn’t hide her full exhaustion.
Mrs. Yan and An Yu watched An Ning disappear with reluctance. If they could, they would want to face the danger in her place more than anyone, but unfortunately, they couldn’t.
When An Ning went in, it was the mont the first explosion sounded. By the ti she ca out, continuous explosions were already resounding.
She couldn’t move at all while lying on the ground, hugging her head with both hands, feeling a bit dizzy from the shock.
But now she could be sure that the sounds she heard were not from an earthquake, but more like explosions.
After the sounds subsided for a while and confird there wouldn’t be a subsequent wave of explosions, An Ning finally dared to move her body, still not daring to let go of her head while climbing up from the ground.
Unfortunately, her head was buzzing, her ears temporarily deafened, and she was so dizzy that she didn’t know where she was.
"Awoo..."
The sound of wolf howling ca from ahead, and An Ning tried to squat down. It was only after a long while that she finally felt a bit recovered.
